Description: SCP-CN-2141 is a broadcast signal originating from the territorial waters of the Philippines, active between 2024年08月31日 and 2024年09月28日. Triangulating the origin of the broadcast indicates that its latitude and longitude coordinates are [17.306471, 134.108136]. Over the 28 days between the initial broadcast and the last recorded broadcast, the signal was received 5 times. Based on the frequency band of the signal, it can be determined that the source of the signal is the Royal Pearl cruise ship, call sign HB-9273A, which set sail from the Philippines on 2024年08月20日.

The full content of each broadcast does not contain any information regarding the identity of the sender; however, analysis of the content indicates that the sender is likely to be the ship's captain, Leonard Branch. The broadcasts are in English, and primarily consist of calls for help. The first two broadcasts revealed some information relating to the ship's condition, but due to the transmitting person's state of panic, this information is not clear. In these broadcasts, the speaker continuously repeats that he is unable to leave the room he is in, and that he can hear screaming from behind him. In the third broadcast (18 days after the initial broadcast), these points are no longer mentioned, and instead the speaker repeatedly orders all engines to be set to maximum power so as to approach land at maximum speed, indicates that the vessel's supplies have run out, and requests help. In the fifth broadcast, only static noise, the sound of waves, and the sound of metal colliding can be heard. This broadcast is the longest recorded, lasting about 2 h 34 min.

However:

  • While the sender repeatedly states otherwise, attempts to locate the source of the transmission have shown that it had not moved significantly between the first and last broadcasts. Subsequent searches revealed that the location of the final discovery was no more than 1 nautical mile from the coordinates.
  • While it is possible to call for and contact the source vessel, it can be determined from its response and subsequent transmissions that it did not receive the message.

In addition to the above-mentioned points, it was discovered during followup exploration that all doors aboard the ship had been closed and permanently sealed, requiring specialized equipment to force open. As such, the first rescue mission was unable to enter the vessel's hull.

A total of approximately 34 cadavers were discovered in the control room and in rooms near the ship's bow. Most of these personnel had died of hunger, some of which succumbed even after resorting to cannibalism. The remaining personnel had committed suicide in various ways. All cadavers were in a state of advanced decay.

No traces of human presence were found in the remaining rooms, despite the fact that the passenger list consisted of over 3000 people. Most of these rooms were likewise devoid of contents to the point of being completely empty. Objects and furnishings in the remaining rooms appeared to be heavily damaged, and showed signs of corrosion or carbonization. The vast majority of rooms had waterlogged walls.

At discovery, all mechanical and electronic systems aboard the vessel had stopped working, and could not be restarted. Inspection indicated that these systems had not encountered any errors, power shortages or any other theoretically possible causes of failure; electronic devices functioned normally after being removed from the ship. The communications system was found to be fully functional. In addition, a rock 30 m3 in volume was found at the bottom of the vessel's hull, which appeared to have caused slight damage to the bottom of the ship, but was not severe enough to cause it to sink. The reef the rock belongs to has not been recorded on any maps. Investigation into the reef revealed that the bottom surface of the rock had two cylindrical protrusions; testing of surrounding seawater indicated that it contained a large volume of human DNA originating from multiple specimens, as well as metal, wood and plastic dust.

When SCP-CN-2141 was initially identified, the Foundation was in the middle of covering up an incident in which an obscure cult had obtained information about and successfully carried out SCP-3406 in a plaza in Shenzhen. At the same time, the Foundation continuously received the SCP-CN-2141 transmission, but was unable to muster personnel to carry out rescue. There is no evidence indicating that any other paranormal organization received SCP-CN-2141 or carried out any countermeasures. After the effects of the ritual and subsequent cleanup had progressed, the Foundation proceeded to investigate SCP-CN-2141's origin, but was too late to carry out rescue.

Followup investigations into the object led directly to the currently ongoing investigation into the actual range of the effects of the abovementioned SCP-3406 ritual. The object is currently considered to have self-neutralized and has been archived.
