SCP-CN-203
rating: 0

Item #: SCP-CN-203

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-CN-203 is contained in a Standard Small Organism Containment Chamber at Site-CN-03. A strong constant unidirectional magnetic field is to be present in the containment chamber to prevent the object from using its anomalous properties to escape. An additional isolation room is installed at the door of the containment chamber. When providing food to the object, the following procedure is to be followed:

  • The exterior door of the isolation room is opened
  • A remotely controlled device is placed into the isolation room
  • The exterior door of the isolation room is closed
  • The door linking the isolation room to the containment chamber is opened
  • The remote controlled device deposits the food
  • If SCP-CN-203 enters the isolation room, a blastproof robot is to chase it back into the containment chamber
  • The exterior door of the isolation room is opened
  • The remote controlled device leaves the isolation room, ensuring that the inner door is closed and that SCP-CN-203 is within the containment chamber
  • The exterior door of the isolation room is closed
  • Process complete

All images captured by the security cameras within SCP-CN-203's containment chamber are to be synchronized by artificial intelligence to ensure that the region corresponding to SCP-CN-203's eyes is heavily pixelated.

Description: SCP-CN-203 appears to be an orange-yellow feline measuring 42 cm in length, with a white underbelly and light green eyes.

SCP-CN-203's eyes possess a cognitohazardous, mind-altering effect. Direct visual contact with the object's eyes will lead to hallucinations, such as:

  • Constant auditory hallucinations of cats meowing
  • Degree 6 - 8 pain in the head
  • Fainting within 10 to 12 minutes, during which the subject's eyes remain open

In addition, SCP-CN-203 will maintain constant visual contact with affected entities. Memory analysis of affected personnel indicates that the object uses its anomalous effect to retrieve and alter affected subjects' memories. Continued exposure to this effect will cause affected personnel to suffer necrosis of the frontal lobe; if this continues for 2 hours, the subject will eventually lose vital signs.

The Foundation discovered the anomaly's existence while investigating a series of murders in ████, Hainan, China in December 2017, in which at least 19 people were killed by damage to the frontal lobe. Foundation personnel discovered the anomalous qualities of the incident and took over investigation.

Incident Log MI-203:

Date: 2017年12月22日

Personnel Involved: "Keep Warm" group of agents

Note: At 10:21 on the 22nd, Agent "Florence Flask" successfully located SCP-CN-203 in the outskirts of █████, Hainan. Agents "Kettle", "Induction Stove" and "Shutters" established a low-frequency sound emitter broadcasting a memetic agent to prevent civilians from approaching the area. At 10:24, Agent "Security Door" attempted to use a high-fidelity anesthetic syringe gun againts SCP-CN-203, but made eye contact with SCP-CN-203 through the scope of the syringe gun and was immobilized by its effects. Agent "Electric Blanket", standing behind SCP-CN-203, immediately fired his syringe gun, successfully immobilizing SCP-CN-203.

Following Inciden MI-203, SCP-CN-203 was contained in a standard small organism containment chamber at Site-CN-03.

Date: 2018年12月24日

Preface: This incident was caused by attempting to contain SCP-CN-203 without a complete understanding of its effects.

Description: At 8:12 AM, when Oliva Fute, director of Site-CN-03's "Myriad Borders" project, was having breakfast in their private quarters when SCP-CN-203 suddenly manifested in front of them, causing Director Oliva to make direct eye contact. SCP-CN-203's Class 8D cognitohazardous effect subsequently took effect on Director Oliva, whose mind-protection system was inactive at the time. The effect propagated from Director Oliva through the telepathic network, causing the cognitohazard to affect 80% of Site-CN-03's senior researchers, 90% of Site-CN-03's tactical response teams, and 40% of Mobile Task Forces stationed at the Site. Of note is that as the effect originated from within the network, it bypassed the mind-protection systems of Mobile Task Force 丙寅-16 ("Mind Palace"), Site-CN-03's resident response team for psychological and mind-affecting anomalies. At 8:23, all above-mentioned personnel entered a comatose state.

At 8:17, Researcher "Yichen" received a request for help from one of the survivors, and proceeded to Zone B-1 from Zone A-4.

<Begin Recording>

[Researchers "Yichen" and "Zuoxu" look into the camera in the laboratory]

Yichen: Anyone in? Open up!

[No sound]

Zuoxu: We're trapped!

Yichen: Let me take a look at the CCTV feed… ████! Eighty percent of personnel are missing!

Zuoxu: There's no signal here! This is a signal-isolated lab!

Yichen: Anyone here?

[30 minutes later]

Zuoxu: I'm thirsty.

Yichen: You'll be fine. Someone's coming to rescue us.

Zuoxu: I don't know about that.
[30 minutes later]

Yichen: You okay?
Zuoxu: I'm gonna die of thirst.

Yichen: Anyone there? Hurry up!

[20 minutes later]

Announcement system: Anyone there? Yichen? Zuoxu?

Yichen: I'm here! What happened?

Announcement system: I don't know, I'm just an assistant. Oh, right! It seems like the people linked to the telepathic network have all fainted, including the people who control the laboratory doors. That's why you were locked in!

Yichen: ████! I knew that system would come back to bite us! And they didn't believe me!

[Door opens]

Announcement system: Go, hurry up! I just saw the records, it looks like CN-203 is loose! Based on the document, you only have half an hour before the effects are permanent!

Zuoxu: So, what do we do?

Yichen: With so many people going out at the same time, the source has to be Director Oliva. I'll go save them. You coming?

Zuoxu: I…

["Yichen" leaves the laboratory and proceeds to Zone B-1.]

<End Recording>

At 9:54, Researcher "Yichen" entered Zone B-1 and used an explosive charge to break open the door to Director Oliva Fute's private quarters, before making eye contact with SCP-CN-203.

<Begin Recording>

[Researcher "Yichen" runs through the open door. SCP-CN-203 directs its gaze away from Director Oliva's eyes and makes eye contact with SCP-CN-203. "Yichen" clutches his head.]

Yichen: ████! That hurts!

[Surveillance footage records that "Yichen" falls to his knees.]

Yichen: If Oliva and the others felt thai kind of pain… ████████████! What the hell did you do?!

["Yichen" clutches his head with one hand and stands up]

Yichen: The others may have deserved it… but this is my friend! I'll make sure you pay!

[SCP-CN-203 produces an 80-decibel scream. "Yichen" falls on his knees again.]

Yichen, SCP-CN-203: [screams of pain]

[Director Oliva Fute stands up clutching their head, before picking up the pot on the tea table and brings it down onto SCP-CN-203's nape. SCP-CN-203 stops screaming, and falls to the ground. "Yichen" likewise falls to the ground as well.]

Oliva: God… I feel so dizzy… Wake up! Yichen! Get up, please… Medic! ████, where are they? They're here, but too late!
<End Recording>

Afterword: Following this incident, inspection revealed that in addition to the personnel involved in the incident, SCP-CN-203 itself also suffered damage to the frontal lobe. It is thought that Researcher "Yichen" reversed the effects back onto SCP-CN-203 through direct eye contact, causing the anomaly to affect SCP-CN-203 itself.

Addendum:
Following Incident SG-203, SCP-CN-203 was discovered to possess the ability to pass through microscopic gaps by splitting apart at the atomic level, walking through the obstruction unperturbed, and then reconstituting itself on the other side. The only known way to prevent this appears to be the use of high-strength magnetic interference to prevent SCP-CN-203 from moving while atomized.

Addendum 2:
