Special Containment Procedures: SCP-CN-1767 is contained in Medium-Threat Object Containment Unit W-07, located in the third underground layer of Site-CN-82-α. Owing to the possibility that SCP-CN-1767 may possess reality-warping abilities, all tests involving operating the object must be approved and supervised by management.
Description: SCP-CN-1767 is a ██████████ brand cassette tape recorder manufactured in 2010. The object measures 20 ×ばつ 8 ×ばつ 1.9 cm, and has a plastic exterior casing. Out of 100 identical tape recorders manufactured by ██████████, none were found to have similar anomalous properties.
Within SCP-CN-1767 is a small magnetic tape of unknown capacity, containing audio data for the song "Jiazuge" (Family Song). All attempts to copy data off the tape have failed. The object's anomaly does not occur when other non-anomalous tapes are played.
When this anomalous cassette tape is correctly inserted into the object, the object will enter an active state. While the object is active, human subjects pressing the "play" button will immediately cause one of the following effects to occur:
- The object plays the cassette normally. No anomalous effects manifest.
- The audio stops in the middle of the track, produces a jamming noise and begins repeating a single word. At this point, the lights in the room will dim and the subject's heart rate will increase. Anomalous effects cease when the subject is no longer in contact with the object.
- The tape is ejected and the object is unable to play it. No anomalous effects manifest.
Experiments involving operating SCP-CN-1767 are currently underway.
