SCP-CN-1720 is a cognitohazardous anomaly. The clothing itself does not exist.
The country "Hermetia" is named for the divine trickster Hermes in Greek mythology.
Due to a spatial anomaly, the clothing has transferred from the Middle Ages to the modern day.
The story itself does not have that deep a moral. I just wanted to express the origins of the clothing. Perhaps this is just a description of war driven by profits and greed, but this is not enough.
If the article doesn't have the weight to express that, then I'll turn it into a Tale.

SCP-CN-1720 in a contained state. |
---|
Special Containment Procedures: As of May ██, SCP-CN-1720 has been transferred to Site-CN-10. SCP-CN-1720 must be contained in a 4 x 4 x 4 m containment chamber with walls made of steel plating no thinner than 16 cm. Every 5 seconds, a thermal imaging apparatus is to be used to determine whether SCP-CN-1720 is still within the containment chamber. All relevant measures are to be taken to ensure that SCP-CN-1720 does not breach containment. If containment does fail, there is an extremely high chance of an AK-Class "Mass Hysteria" scenario.
Description: SCP-CN-1720 is a piece of clothing composed of an unknown fabric. Due to the thinness of the fabric, touching the object does not produce any tactile response. It was initially thought that the object is alive, as it slowly moves along the walls of the room when unobserved. SCP-CN-1720 will autonomously decide whether or not it produces a visible or tactile response.
Personnel who are unable to perceive SCP-CN-1720 will manifest the following symptoms 12 hours after expressing that they "do not see anything":
- Symptoms of inferiority complex, believing oneself to be stupid or inferior due to their inability to perceive SCP-CN-1720.
- Symptoms of anxiety, social impairment and paranoia.
- Abovementioned symptoms worsen and the subject begins to self-harm to release psychological stress.
- Bodily convulsions, mania, and speaking in tongues. Subject begins to attack personnel it believes to be "superior, intelligent and able to see it".
It has been confirmed that SCP-CN-1720's anomalous properties will affect all personnel who appear to be unable to see SCP-CN-1720. Class A amnestics are only slightly effective in removing this effect; personnel still affected are to be executed.
SCP-CN-1720 was discovered in March 20██ in an abandoned factory in Tianjin, China. Locally stationed Foundation agents took note of the area due to the emergency of small-scale spatial anomalies and subsequently discovered SCP-CN-1720.
Addendum CN-1720
Experiment Log SCP-CN-1720-A
Date: 20██/4/27
Experiment Lead: Dr.V.H.Wells
Note: Based on this test, personnel who cannot see SCP-CN-1720 will experience serious psychological problems.
[Begin Recording]
D-10243 enters SCP-CN-1720's containment chamber.
Dr. Wells: So, answer me: Can you see this beautiful clothing?
D-10243: I don't see anything.
Dr. Wells: Can you really not see it? The magnificent garment, the tantalizing patterns… tell me, from the bottom of your heart, can you really not see it?
D-10243: I have no reason to lie to you, Doc. I cannot see any clothes.
Dr. Wells: Alright. Please return to the containment chamber.
After returning to the containment chamber, D-10243 slowly develops psychological problems. Foundation psychologists failed to assist the subject, and tranquilizers did not have a significant effect.
Following this, D-10243 was sent to a steel-reinforced isolation room and watched over by four guards. 32 minutes later, D-10243 began to self-harm.
After one hour in the isolation room, D-10243 began to strike the door of the room repeatedly and requested to leave. This request was denied by the guards. Dr. Wells reported this situation to the Department Head, Dr. Zenerry.
Following this, D-10243 was amnesticized and returned to a normal state. Further monitoring revealed no further anomalies.

1720-1 Research Note
██/█/10: It's been eight days since SCP-CN-1720 was transferred to Site-CN-10. Based on the experiment with D-10243, SCP-CN-1720's effects can clearly be removed with amnesticization. Further [REDACTED] testing shows that personnel with higher emotional intelligence seem to be more able to see SCP-CN-1720.
██/█11: Based on Experiment ████-█, I conjecture that SCP-CN-1720 may possess some degree of intelligence and sapience. The four personnel confirmed to be able to see SCP-CN-1720 were given intelligence tests and their IQ was average for adult humans.
██/█/13: Based on Experiment ███, I conjecture that SCP-CN-1720 can "feel" the presence of people who can see the object, and will attempt to leave the containment chamber.
██/█/16: SCP-CN-1720's containment status is currently excellent. No containment breaches or risks of such have been found, and research on its anomalous properties has been fast-tracked.

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom known as Hermetia.
The emperor enjoyed wearing beautiful clothes, and spent much of the kingdom's money on buying and making clothes.
Whenever the people of the palace mentioned the emperor, they would always say, "His Majesty is in the changing room."
The emperor's ancestors built up a powerful nation, boundless wealth, a great army, and diligent ministers…
But the emperor cared not for it — he only cared for his immense wardrobe.
His ministers sought to please him, searching for all of the nation's best tailors to fulfill their leader's every wish.
The emperor was overjoyed that he had such a loyal and wise cabinet of ministers.
One day, two tailors came to Hermetia, claiming that they could create the most beautiful clothes in the world.
Upon hearing this, the emperor brought them to his palace, and asked them what kind of clothes they could make.
The two tailors proudly said,
"We will sew the world's most beautiful clothes,"
"using the world's most magnificent magic,"
"and we will allow Your Majesty to see the true will of his people."
"We will weave clothes that will allow Your Majesty to tell the stupid from the intelligent;"
"We will weave clothes that will allow Your Majesty to tell the diligent from the lazy."
The emperor laughed.
He gave the two tailors gold, riches, the finest silk and dye in the world.
He said, "I want to know if the world really has such an item of clothing. I have a feeling you will not let me down."
The two tailors laughed.
They began their work. One day and one night.
Clack-clack, went the sewing machine.
Click-click, went the sewing machine.
The emperor was curious while waiting. What kind of garment could be this magical?
He asked one of his ministers to check on the tailors. He trusted that his ministers were loyal and wise.
This minister went to see the two tailors,
hoping he could see a glimpse of that "world's most beautiful clothing."
The minister clasped his hands, walking down the red carpet, every second feeling like hours from the pressure.
Squeak, went the opening door.
Clack-clack, went the sewing machine.
The two tailors, though they were busy, let the minister have a look. The magic came down, and the beauty of the embroidery left him in awe.
The minister, in shock, looked at it, a chill went down his spine. Myriad fears went down his spine, and he waved his hands and stuttered.
Squeak, went the closing door.
Click-click, went the sewing machine.
The minister rubbed his eys and ran back to the throme room. He told the emperor everything he saw.
The emperor patted his belly, feeling happy, and filled with expectations he waited.
They continued their work. Two days and two nights.
The sun rose over the horizon. Everything was good.
The shut windows opened just a crack. The people within were pretending to sew together a veil.
The emperor did not change his clothes again, and merely waited for that heavenly garment to be completed day after day.
Clack-clack, went the sewing machine.
Click-click, went the sewing machine.
They continued their work. Three days and three nights.
The emperor kept waiting, as if he had lost his freedom.
The ministers kept waiting, as if they had no advice to give.
The generals kept waiting, as if they had lost their meaning.
The weavers kept waiting, as if they had lost their reward.
In the end, the emperor could not wait any longer; the ministers could not wait any longer; the generals could not wait any longer.
Eventually, the sewing machine stopped spinning, the clothes stopped coming together, and the tailors had finished their work.
The emperor made his way down the red carpet, and the two tailors kindly showed him their work. The emperor could not believe his eyes. He showered the two tailors in the ultimate praise.
That was the beginning of prosperity; the emperor no longer changed his clothes. The two tailors put the new garments over him, and prepared to have him paraded throughout the kingdom.
The people were all in awe at the beauty of his clothing.
The emperor thought that life was good, as if he would never have any regrets in his life. He became prouder and prouder.
Suddenly, a young boy shouted:
He's not wearing anything!
His father stared at him in shock. The people stared at him in shock. The ministers and the generals, too.
The boy regretted what he said, and asked for forgiveness from the people, but none would forgive him. That night, as the owls were cawing, after who knows how long, the boy took a knife and stabbed his father to death.
The emperor clenched his fists. The people would kill him.
As if the world had gone dull, the people dug a hole so deep the bottom could not be seen, shouting: "None can mock the world's most beautiful clothes."
Still wearing his new clothes, the emperor started to execute him.
The universally hated patricider was thrown into the pit, and the people cheered in the fields.
The emperor laughed.
He had finally sealed away the crazy ones.
The two tailors laughed.
They took their bags of riches and left Hermetia.
…
Many years later, the emperor died, and he and the empress-consort had not left behind a single heir. The empress was not fit to rule—
and so the clothes had lost their owner.
The people of the kingdom began to fight over the clothes. They killed, stole, and plotted.
"I was His Majesty's favorite minister! They belong to me!"
"I was His Majesty's most trusted general! They belong to me!"
And so the kingdom broke into civil war, and the people felt the cold of war. They feared, they starved, and they died.
And when the last general killed the last minister, he choked up blood, and fell in front of the world's most beautiful clothes,
and with everyone in the kingdom dead
the clothes, too, disappeared.
