SCP-CN-1129
Item #: SCP-CN-1129
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-CN-1129 and the facility in which it is located have been abandoned and blocked off. Use of the anomaly requires authorization from the Head of Containment. Updating of Chinese Branch facilities completed in 1986.
Description: SCP-CN-1129 is a crematory oven, constructed as part of Site-CN-01. Once a human corpse is placed in the object and cremated for more than 10 minutes, the corpse will expand to 1.5 times its original volume and become covered in a light caramel-colored shell. Upward-facing parts of the shell will appear darker and possess vertically-running cracks. After cremation, the corpse will be soft and easy to break apart; where visible, the interior will be changed into a loose, porous ash-gray sponge-like structure. Analysis indicates that the primary component of the outer shell is starch, and the interior is composed of proteins and various fats; the entire body is edible, and those who consume it report that the taste is slightly drier than white bread and tasteless.
Other crematory ovens of the same make have not been found to possess any anomalous properties.
Addendum: Further inspection reveals that a round yellow sticker bearing a spinning smiley face, 1 cm in diameter, is pasted at the deepest part of the object's interior. All attempts to remove or damage the sticker have failed. In addition, based on the Site's logs, the anomalous effects of the object manifested on the 777th corpse cremated with the object.
