Item #: SCP-CN-1066
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The ownership rights to the storefront where SCP-CN-1066 is located has been bought out by a Foundation front company; the anomaly is concealed as a mobile phone store. Level 2 personnel have been assigned to act as store employees, and products are to be sold at relatively high prices to reduce customer traffic. The door leading to the anomaly is to be fitted with a password and fingerprint lock; all experiments are to be conducted in the presence of the Containment Manager and recorded for archival purposes. All electronic devices retrieved from SCP-CN-1066 are to be given to the Refined Electronics Research Department for research purposes, and may not be personally kept by personnel.
Description: SCP-CN-1066 is a second-hand mobile phone store, located in an anomalous space within a store in ████████ Development Zone, Guangdong, China. The anomaly can be accessed through the storeroom door.
The anomaly's interior appears to be a standard "phone repair shop". There is a board behind the counter bearing the characters "华曦Huaxi", glass cases and shelves with phone cases, screen protectors, and other phone accessories. Based on observation, these products are used for early 21st-century mobile phones; it is theorized that these are decorations that vary based on the era from which the customer originates.
Within SCP-CN-1066 is an Asian male, appearing to be an unkempt middle-aged man, and is capable of fluently speaking standard Mandarin Chinese (with a southwestern accent). This entity is designated SCP-CN-1066-1. When a customer enters SCP-CN-1066, SCP-CN-1066-1 will be sitting behind the counter. SCP-CN-1066-1 does not respond to any questions unless they relate to the purchase of second-hand phones, and asking too many questions will lead to the entity displaying irritation. Customers that attempt to use violence will be ejected from SCP-CN-1066 by an unknown force (the largest recorded instance being 678.3 N of force). Following this, SCP-CN-1066's entrance, if it is open, will shut. Once again attempting to enter SCP-CN-1066 will lead to the door opening into the storeroom as usual.
Personnel may purchase any second-hand phone from SCP-CN-1066, even if the phone's model is discontinued or unreleased. The buyer must provide SCP-CN-1066-1 the brand, model and condition. This information must be specific; simply requesting, for instance, "an Apple iPhone from 2026" or "the Huawei flagship phone released in 2029" will not receive a response. If the buyer attempts to purchase a model that has not yet been released yet, they will be required to pay an additional "technology acquisition tax", which is proportional in value to the difference in technological advancement between the requested phone and present technology.
On 2018/0█/██, the local police station in ████████ successfully captured and arrested a group of petty thieves. Among the stolen items was a smartphone labeled "Xiaomi Note 4", which attracted the attention of Foundation agents embedded in the police force; following this, a separate investigation was made into its owner, which revealed the existence of SCP-CN-1066. Following this, the criminal was amnesticized and the relevant information regarding SCP-CN-1066 was reported to the Foundation. Containment was successfully established shortly after.
