SCP-CN-026
rating: +3

Item #: SCP-CN-026

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The carrier of SCP-CN-026 is currently contained in a standard small safe at Site-CN-██, and the code is to be changed weekly. Experimentation with SCP-CN-026 requires the approval of a person with level 4 security clearance or higher. UPDATE: Since Incident CN-026-01, experiments with SCP-CN-026 are prohibited.

Description: The carrier of SCP-CN-026 is a piece of paper torn from a notebook with the words "Mud Doll, Mud Doll, a Mud Doll, I'm its dad, I'm its mom, love it for all long" written in scribbled handwriting. When the paper is soiled, the paper will slowly return to its original state depending on the degree of soiling, the process takes 5 seconds to 20 minutes (see experimental record CN-026-01 for detail).

The anomalous properties of SCP-CN-026 manifest that individuals who read the item (classified as SCP-CN-026-A) will produce anomalous effects when the following conditions are met simultaneously within the next two hours:

  1. The individual chants the contents of SCP-CN-026 twice without error;
  2. The individual maintains physical contact with an item throughout the chant;
  3. The individual has full ownership of the item;

Upon completion of the chant, the item will transform into an SCP-CN-026-B instance with the consciousness equivalent to a 12-year-old human child, with random gender. The object will regard the individual as its most important "parent", and the individual will also regard the object as his or her most important "child", no matter how many descendants the individual has before. It is important to note that both the object and the individual are aware of the physical properties of the individual. The same SCP-CN-026-B can only trigger the SCP-CN-026 effect once in a lifetime.

Experimental Log CN-026-01: The purpose of this experiment is to test the damage limit that the paper can withstand.

Experiment Action Recovery Time Result
Wrote on the paper 5s The written word faded away.
Crumpled the paper into a ball 30s The paper spread out on its own and finally returned to its original state.
Teared the paper in half 1min One half of the paper faded and disappeared, and the other half gradually appeared.
Teared up the paper 5min Fragments of paper faded and disappeared, and after 5 minutes the intact paper appeared on the laboratory bench.
Burned the paper 20min The ashes faded and disappeared, and 20 minutes later the intact paper appears on the bench.

Note: Nothing special.

Experimental Log CN-026-02: The purpose of this experiment is to test the anomalous properties of SCP-CN-026-B.

SCP-CN-026-A-03: D-5832

SCP-CN-026-B-03: A copy of "University Physics" textbook assigned to D-5832.

Date: ██/██/20██

Result: D-5832's time spent reading books increased significantly, and the book explained the material to the individual word by word. The two sides had a lot of talk to each other. The book had been comforting the individual and persuading him to accept his current situation. After 10 days of observation, D-5832 was terminated, and the book was incinerated. No further exceptions occurred.

SCP-CN-026-A-05: D-7461

SCP-CN-026-B-05: A ten-yuan note assigned to D-7461.

Date: ██/██/20██

Result: The SCP-CN-026 effect was not triggered.

Note: The presumed reason is that paper money belongs to the state, and citizens only have the right to use it.

SCP-CN-026-A-08: D-7461

SCP-CN-026-B-08: A doll assigned to D-7461.

Date: ██/██/20██

Special Request: Experimenter instructed D-7461 to neutralize the doll.

Result: The doll reprimanded the experimenter for ten minutes, including [REDACTED]. The experimenter reminded D-7461 that failure to comply with the order would result in immediate termination. D-7461 then cried and cut off the doll's head. The doll was neutralized, and the individual suffered a nervous breakdown. Following the experiment, D-7461 was terminated, and the remains of the doll were incinerated. No further exceptions occurred.

On ██/██/20██, former Site Deputy Director ████ used SCP-CN-026 privately after learning of SCP-CN-026's anomalous properties, transformed a photo of his wife who died in a car accident into SCP-CN-026-B-19. After the photo was transformed, it continued to persuade ████ to forget her and start a new life of his own. ████ cried for █ hours after recalling numerous past life events with the photo until the photo neutralized itself (through unknown means into a shredder). ████ voluntarily accepted discipline, was downgraded to Level 2 and transferred from Site-CN-██. Experimentation with SCP-CN-026 has been suspended, and containment procedures have been updated.

SCP-CN-026 Recovery Log: On ██/██/20██, a child abuse case occurred in [REDACTED], China. Neighbors reported to the local police department that the victim's parents were blocked by "a porcelain doll" in front of the victim, and the information was intercepted by hidden Foundation agents. When Foundation agents arrived at the scene, 10-year-old child victim ███ was dead, clutching the paper SCP-CN-026 was written on, and the floor beside him was covered with fragments of a porcelain doll. Agents immediately gave Class-B amnestics to those present and those receiving police, disguising the case as a common child abuse case of death, and recovered SCP-CN-026. The parent of the victimized child were later prosecuted for intentional homicide and sentenced to death.

Afterwards, when agents sorted out the victim's belongings, they found a disassembled letter, presumably written by the creator of SCP-CN-026, with the following content:

Compared to your parents,

Your heart is as pure as a diamond,

And your singing is as beautiful as a nightingale.

You are worthy of this gift,

It will give you a long-awaited companionship,

And a heart that will keep guarding until death.

May you no longer be alone,

Looking forward to your growing up soon,

Welcome to the family of Nirvana.

- Favourite your big sister Sagittarius

Tracing and research into "Sagittarius" and "Nirvana" are ongoing.

Addendum CN-026-01: Following the occurrence of Incident CN-026-01, a piece of written paper appeared next to the shredder, with the following contents, in the same handwriting as on the front of SCP-CN-026.

Please stop

Even if your wife is no longer alive

Even if I'm just a photo

You should also guard her last wish

May you no longer be alone
