Special Containment Procedures: Each piece is stored in its own safe class standard containment storage to prevent damage. Forcibly affected personnel are tranquilised with large mammal tranquilising agents and rescued. If the victim has reached orgasm, the following protocols should be followed:
1. If the victim is satisfied with the pleasure, wait until disabling and recover the remains.
2. If the victim is not satisfied with the pleasure, secure the victim's body and retreat within 1 kilometre from the instance. After this, secure the instance.
Description: SCP-998-KO consists of thirteen porcelain statues shaped like roaring black panthers. All instances possess the same anomalous traits, which manifest even when they are away from each other. Multiple instances can focus on a single person, with their effects increasing as the number of artefacts increases. In contrast, a single artefact cannot affect multiple people.
To manifest 998-KO's anomalous traits, the "master" and "offering" are needed. The "master" assumes a sadistic role, while the "offering" assumes a masochistic role. Multiple "masters" can claim joint ownership of a single "offering." The "offering" becomes physically sturdier and more pain-sensitive in joint ownership.
The two roles must be within a three-metre radius from the instance to manifest the anomalous trait. The "master" then places a part of the "offering"'s body inside the maw of the instance and says the activation incantation. The incantation reads: "I am the devil, and I am here to do the devil's deed."
Subsequently, the "master" will hear the roar of a panther. Simultaneously, their sadistic tendencies drastically increase during the activation phase, primarily focused on physical torture. If the "master" was not a sadist before, they become abnormally sadistic during this phase. This change is permanent, even after the instance's deactivation. This also allows people unable to feel sexual pleasure, such as those with hypoactive sexual desire disorder or impotence.
The "master" cannot resist the progression of their own free will, as the sadistic tendencies increase more as time progresses. Foundation experiments revealed that the "master" cannot resist the progression for over 38 hours. However, it is possible to escape the effect if they fall unconscious for 13 hours. However, due to the "master"'s psychological and physiological enhancements from 998-KO's effects, they are harder to stun or tranquilise, making it difficult to subdue them.
In situations where the "master" is conscious but physically restrained and unable to proceed to the next step, a 13-hour time limit is imposed. 998-KO recognises the "master's" restrained state about 1 hour later. About an hour after the onset, the "master" continuously hears growling sounds. These sounds seem to move around as if leopards prowl nearby. After the time limit expires, the person's genitals suffer severe injuries, as if bitten by an unseen force. Furthermore, the phrase "Unworthy are the weak" is etched onto the "master's" face.
The "master" can abuse others who aren't the "offering". However, as they are more satisfied when abusing the "offering", the "masters" seem to prefer abusing the "offering". When the "master" reaches orgasm by abusing others, they progress to the next phase.
If the "master" is satisfied with the orgasm, 998-KO turns into an actual creature. This creature can pass through objects, making it immune to physical impact. The activated instance(s) murder the "master(s)" violently, not stopping until the "master" is dead. It then returns to its original position and falls into a 13-day dormancy.
If the "master" is not satisfied, they fall unconscious. Then, 998-KO turns into a creature. At this stage, it is hypothesised that the "master's" mind connects with the instance. The reasoning behind this is as follows:
- Brain wave scanning showed the brain activity of the "master" that matches 998-KO's actions.
- Muscle movements of 998-KO and the master are identical.
- After returning, the "master" has a clear first-person memory of 998-KO's actions during the phase, claiming they were 998-KO.
Therefore, it is plausible that the "master" is psychologically connected to the instance.
The sadism within the master/998-KO seems to go into overdrive, backed by the "master's" brain wave, pulse, and hormone secretion. This leads the instance to attack every organism around it for pleasure. It rarely kills the victim instantly. Instead, it toys with the victims, injuring them until it reaches orgasm. When it reaches orgasm, it finally kills the victim and devours it. The orgasm continues until the consumption is complete. After consumption, the "master" regains consciousness, and 998-KO returns to a statue, going dormant for 13 hours.
If the "master's" body is further than one kilometre from the instance, the body ceases all biological functions, and the instance becomes deactivated. This also applies when the "master" is dead.
