An instance of SCP-778-KO where seven individuals resided.

Item #: SCP-778-KO

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-778-KO should be brought to Foundation custody through acquisition or other means. All individuals formerly residing in SCP-778-KO are to be detained and amnesticized.

Description: SCP-778-KO refers to shared living spaces that display physical and spatial anomalies. SCP-778-KO can accommodate more individuals than is typically possible for a non-anomalous space of the same size. The extent of the effect varies from one or two additional occupants residing in multifamily residential units to a large number of people living in a typically uninhabitable location.

Individuals living in SCP-778-KO tend to have augmented physical and mental capabilities. They can sleep in typically unsuitable environments without physical distress, suffer from lower emotional distress when living in a confined space, and the desire for personal space and privacy diminishes significantly. A decrease in the understanding of the local environment and minor hallucinations typically accompany such effects.

SCP-778-KO tends not to be recognized as anomalous to its users or observers. The AIL level testing displayed a result akin to normal shared living spaces. In addition, users or observers of SCP-778-KO do not exhibit uneasiness or displeasure towards its non-anomalous issues, such as small private spaces or a severely poor sleeping environment.

It is uncertain when SCP-778-KO initially manifested, but certainly, the sightings of homeless or poor people decreased dramatically in several countries due to its influence.

The Foundation first spotted a definite case of SCP-778-KO during a large fire at Seoul Station in 2037. During that time, many homeless people were collectively residing in SCP-778-KO instances that manifested across the metro station. These individuals failed to escape the accident, and their bodies were later found during recovery efforts at the site and were reported to the Foundation. Likewise, many SCP-778-KO instances reported to date tend to contain large amounts of deceased residents during discovery.

Even in cases where the residents were discovered alive, they lack the social and economic foundation for living in the non-anomalous world, leading to difficulties in applying the standard disinformation protocols for amnesticizing and returning them to the non-anomalous world.

Exploration Log 778-KO: The development of protective agents against SCP-778-KO's cognition-hindering effects was completed. As a result, it has been discovered that SCP-778-KO is affecting multiple Foundation facilities. Below is the exploration log for the Class D dormitory at Site-█.

Begin Log

The exploration agent enters the Class D dormitory. A fake ID card has been given for the mission. The exploration agent scans the ID card at the terminal and enters the dormitory. Once he enters, the door closes behind him.

Site-█ incorporated several integrated technologies during the late 2020s, fully automating the Class D dormitory. A Class D-managing robot slides by the exploration agent.

The Class D dormitory is not very large. Around 120 Class D personnel live in Site-█, but the entire dorm corridor is only as big as a shipping container, or even smaller, most of which are passageways for the managing robots. The width is barely big enough for two people to pass by.

Each door for the rooms in the dormitory is about half the size of a regular door, and almost a square in shape. Room doors line up on each side of the hallway on two floors. The doors are locked with screw-type locks designed for robots, unable to be unlocked with bare hands. The exploration agent takes out a multi-tool and attempts to open a door.

A managing robot inserts liquid through a device on the Class D room door, presumed to be liquid food. The intruder detection system was deactivated beforehand, but coming into contact with a managing robot will likely lead to the exploration attempt being detected. The agent pauses his attempt to unlock the door and steps aside.

The managing robot stops inserting liquid food and disappears through a small exit in the dormitory. The exploring agent attempts to unlock the door again. After several attempts all screws on the door are successfully removed. He opens the door slightly and inserts an endoscope camera.

About a dozen Class D personnel are evenly stacked up inside the room. The Class D personnel are physically altered to be systematically crammed into a small space. Physical alterations due to SCP-778-KO tend to be disordered, hinting that SCP-778-KO was manipulated to manage a large number of personnel systematically. The Class D suits all include a tube presumed to be for waste removal. The liquid food injected by the managing robot flows through the other tubes.

The managing robot reappears from the small exit. The exploring agent carefully removes the endoscope camera and re-tightens the screws. The managing robot inserts a device to open the door, then swiftly unlocks it. Class D personnel altered in the shape of a box exit through a sliding device within the room. The Class D personnel placed upon the floor slowly unfold themselves. A faint smell of disinfectant spreads.

The managing robot opens the doors for three rooms, placing about 30 Class D personnel across the corridor. The managing robot slides aside, and the Class D personnel march outside the dormitory in unison. The exploring agent steps back to the end of the corridor and watches this from afar.

The exploration agent exits the Class D dormitory. Fortunately, he appears not to have been discovered. He uses the freight elevator to head to the main building on the site.

The exploration agent switches to the passenger elevator. The elevator leads to the on-site agent dormitory. Walking into the dormitory, he notices the lockers lining the room doors.

The exploring agent opens his room door and checks the inside. He does not understand. He thought we would be different from you.

He collapses.
