SCP-668-FR upon recovery.

Item #: SCP-668-FR

Threat Level: Orange くろまる

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-668-FR is currently stored in locker #16 #17 of the West Storage Wing of Site-Aleph. Any use for testing requires Dr. Tagnon's approval is forbidden pending new orders.

Foundation web crawlers must stay on the lookout for the series of keywords related to SCP-668-FR in order to identify any anomalous individual, organization or phenomenon that could be related to the item, to PoI-SCP-668-FR-A, or to the UoT itself.

Description: SCP-668-FR is a two-face audio tape of the TDK brand with the handwritten inscription "Face A" on a piece of green adhesive tape. The audio tape on this side consists of the recording of a masculine voice stating for around 5 minutes a list of survival rules in forest areas in a speech supposedly adapted to children, followed by a discussion with a second voice. The audio tape on the second side consists of the sped-up recording of a melody played different types of unidentified wind instruments accompanied by human voices during around twenty-eight seconds ; its origin could not be traced as its existence seems to be limited to SCP-668-FR.

For some individuals, listening to the musical tape induces a trance-like state, characterized by a general paralysis of the limbs and an acoustic hypersensitivity. After listening to the entirety of the sped-up melody, the subjects affected by SCP-668-FR suddenly disappear, leaving behind them wet moss remains whose origin could not be determined.

SCP-668-FR was recovered on 05/06/2022 on the island of Jersey, among the belongings of Benoît █████, a civilian of 24 years old. Local Foundation assets had been alerted of the potentially anomalous disappearance of the young man on the previous day, who had vanished without leaving a trace, except a carpet of wet moss at the center of his room in the home of his parents. Benoît █████ being an urbex fan, he is believed to have found SCP-668-FR during one of his expeditions ; however, as he has the habit of not telling anyone his destination, the local Foundation assets have thus far been unable to find the location explored by the young man, which could be the original discovery location of SCP-668-FR.

MALE 1, with a monotonous voice

Hello and welcome in this little survivor's guide. If you're listening to this tape, it means that you're part of the…

[2 seconds of silence, followed by a sigh.]

…incredibly lucky guys that have been chosen to participate to a very important step of your life and of the life of the community: the Adventure in the Great Outdoors. And if you hear my voice, it means you correctly inserted the first side. Congratulations! The odds of you having a good time in the Great Outdoors will have greatly increased once you will have listened, understood and learned my instructions.

When you arrive in the Great Outdoors, your head may hurt a lot. Don't panic: breathe in, then breathe out slowly. Take the time you need to calm down. Feel the Great Outdoors that surrounds you, its wet smell that fill your nose. You are not alone, you are never alone in the Great Outdoors: listen to the things that live and crawl and hunt and die there. Feel the pounding of all of these hearts that follow yours when you breathe, learn their rhythm and resonate with them. The Great Outdoors is not your enemy, it is only a sanctuary. You now belong to a great whole with its inhabitants and you need them as they need you. Evern if the Sun will never shine on those like you who committed the First Sin…

In the Great Outdoors, every objective that you may undertake may seem so far that it is unattainable, every step you take may seem so painful that giving up is an option, but you must always try to give it your all and to go further, for longer, with more bravery. When you want to eat, you must find the food you need, not that which is given graciously to you. When you are tired, you must find the shelter that reassures you, not the one your body craves so badly that your muscles shake. When you are lost, you must listen to your instinct and look for the path that looks inaccessible, not the path laid down and shown by someone else. When you are in danger, you must run away up the hill, not down.

Because in the Great Outdoors, many dangers await you and nobody really knows all of them. The hunters have their own beasts, their own demons, and we have ours.

The Master of the Vestibule already knows where you are and will never be far from you. It doesn't like people like us who have been able to find the Great Outdoors, but it doesn't see very well: if you encounter it, cover your ears and close your heart to the world around you, or its scales scratching against the trunks will leave you unable to see the light of day again. Never forget that it will follow you tirelessly, wherever you go. Always stay on your guard, but do not forget your Quest.

Sometimes, when comes the hour that should be morning if the sun wanted to show itself to you, the fresh air currents bring familiar voices to your ears and whisper secrets of the world to you. They call you to the top of the pines and invite you to join the Great Wind with them. You will have to be strong and reject the temptation of the easy option, resist their tall tales and keep going on your path without stopping, else you risk becoming one of the specters that haunt the riverbanks and make the trees and their roots weep.

In the Great Outdoors there are still myriads of other creatures that you will have to learn about and to live with, as nobody has seen it in its entirety.

As you know since you are old enough to listen, you are in the Great Outdoors because you have a Quest within you. It must obsess you and become your reason to live. Whether noble or not, you must dedicate each of your movements to it, each of your footsteps must bring you closer to it and each of your words must honor it. When you are in doubt, keep your Quest close to your heart: if you are here, on these sacred lands, if you belong to the whole that lives and crawls and hunts and dies, it is by and for it. There is nothing more beautiful to us than to see your Quest through and…

[2 seconds of silence.]

…come back among your own, triumphant, blessed, grown up and loved by the Great Outdoors and its inhabitants.

[5 seconds of silence.]

After you have seen your quest through, the Great Outdoors is yours and lives in your heart, but you do not belong to the Great Outdoors anymore. Seek the Spire that Splits the Sky, listen to its sizzling and threatening melody directly in your gut, and go towards it. You will-

[A door opens, followed by the rustling noises of sheets of paper.]

MALE 2

Jonas, what are you doing? The others are waiting for you for the ceremony, and without the Voice Bearer…

MALE 1

I know, I know, I was checking that it worked. I let it fall, so…

MALE 2

Do not let the Elder hear those words, you fool. You have already said more than enough on our undertaking to rouse his suspicion, let's hope he doesn't take back from you the privilege of leading the children to their salvation.

MALE 1

I know, Jeremy. It's just that… It's absurd, isn't it? Why start again now, so suddenly, and why them, why is it always them? When they took my Ivan, it was the same excuses, the same prophecies and the same lies.

MALE 2

You know very well why.

MALE 1

No.

[A sigh.]

I'm coming…

[A door closes.]

MALE 1, whispering

I am sorry for what I am about to do, know that I had no choice. I never had a choice and will never have any. But I am the only one that has the honor of touching the Way and to give it to you, so I had this idea to give you a chance… I really hope you could hear my words and that you understood and memorized my instructions… And for pity's sake, if you come across other lost children, tell them of my advice as the winds tell you the wail of my sorrow… I beg of you, I beg of you all… Bring him back to me…

Surprisingly, the self-proclaimed "guide" of this tape does not really include survival advice, outside of cryptic warning and precautions against the apparently anomalous fauna and flora inhabiting a place the listeners are supposed to know. A part of the content even looks more like a motivational tape.
However, the end of the recording and exchange suggest that the individual recording the advice knows the anomalous properties of the tape and that the people that disappear when listening to it are taken to a place they call "the Great Outdoors". The mentions of trunks, pines and river suggest that this "Great Outdoors" is located in a forest or could potentially be an entire anomalous forest.

Incident SP-668-FR-20230118:
On 17/01/2023, an intruder was detected on the 3rd floor of the West Storage Wing of Site-Aleph. The security agents sent there discovered an unconscious child wearing tattered clothes in front of the locker of SCP-668-FR. Its door seemed to have been torn apart by a tremendous force coming from within and the intruder was holding the object in its hand at the time of its discovery. He showed deep cuts on his arms, shoulders and face, as well as a layer of mud, grime and dried blood all over his body.

The individual was carried to the infirmary of Site-Aleph and woke up the following day. He stated his name was Julien D██████████, but could not give any more information on his appearance due to his state of panic. After an assessment of anomalous risk level to "Minimal", he was placed under the supervision of Dr. Aloices for interviews in order to understand his potential link with SCP-668-FR, and is henceforth designated as Person of Interest PoI-SCP-668-FR-A.

Log of interviews with PoI-SCP-668-FR-A:

Date: 19/01/2023
Interviewed: Julien D██████████, designated PoI-SCP-668-FR-A below
Interviewer: Dr. Aloices
Foreword: N/A

Dr. Aloices: Hello Julien. I am Doctor Ariane Aloices, I was sent to care for you and check up on your condition. Are you alright?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Hello miss. I think I'm okay, but where am I? Who are you?

Dr. Aloices: Nobody told you where you are? Here, it's a bit like a hospital for people who have experienced strange or anomalous things. And I guess you do have lived such things, right?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes miss…

Dr. Aloices: Then you're in the right place! I will begin by asking you some questions, you can take the time you need to answer, and then we can look together for a way to bring you back home. Tell me, how old are you and where do you live?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I am ten! No, eleven… I think. And I don't know where I live…

Dr. Aloices: Very well… Do you remember how you arrived here with us, at least?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A thinks for a while. He appears visibly frustrated.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I think I fell off a cliff when I was trying to escape the giant serpent. I just fell, fell, fell, for such a long time, and when I woke up I was here…

Dr. Aloices: A giant serpent was chasing you? Where?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Well, in the forest, duh! It's super dangerous, so well I ran to not listen to it, but I ran very fast, and I wasn't seeing very well in front of my feet but I still climbed up the highest hill I saw, as the Bearer said in the tape, but I didn't see the edge.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A starts fidgeting and appears to be nervous. Dr. Aloices lays a hand on his shoulder.

Dr. Aloices: Don't worry, it's going to be okay, there's nothing to be afraid of anything here.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A calms down, but appears to remember something and becomes agitated again, searching for something on his person.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Oh no, the figurine… Where is it??

Dr. Aloices: The figurine ? What are you talking about?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: But, the old man's figurine! He gave it to me so that I could bring it back to his home, and now that I'm back I lost it! Oh no no no…

Dr. Aloices: "The old man"? Was there somebody with you?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, he was… sniff a super old, really tired, sad man. At first he didn't like me, I think, I was disturbing him because I was talking a lot and he little, so I followed him for a while, but from far away, you see. He was hiding all the time to not see the animals, even though they are not all mean. It's the Bearer on the tape that says it! But the old man, he didn't listen to me, he said that he didn't need a tape to survive! When I told him what to do to eat well, because what he ate was really not good, he was grumbling… So uh I went off on my own, and someday I went alone a bit too high and too far, and when I came back he said he had found a hut and it was a huge toad that… that…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A sobs again and starts crying without interruption for several minutes, ignoring the attempts of Dr. Aloices to calm him down.

Dr. Aloices ends the interview.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A was installed in a room of the medical wing of Site-Aleph to be treated by Dr. Aloices while waiting for his family to be found and for a new interview to be carried out. The tape mentioned by the subject referred to SCP-668-FR, and thus this interview was definitively appended to the file and a second interview is planned to try to learn more about the object and its functioning.

Interviewer: Dr. Aloices

Dr. Aloices: Hello Julien. How are you today?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Hello miss. I'm better… But the last night, I had nightmares where I see the forest again…

Dr. Aloices: Actually, it's that forest that I would like to talk about with you today. If that's okay with you?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, that's fine…

Dr. Aloices: Good, thank you Julien. Can you describe to me the forest you're talking about? This is where you went while listening to the tape, isn't it?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, that's it… It's a forest with very tall trees, pine trees I think? And lots of hills and valleys, and many dangerous animals and super weird things that aren't really animals, and not much to eat, and many people that are weird too…

Dr. Aloices: Oh, there were other people, apart from that old man and you?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, I came across people after I lost the old man, but not all of them were nice. There were hunters, most often, but I also was with a group of adults that weren't hunters but that were really very weird…

Dr. Aloices: Alright, that's a lot of people… Listen, Julien, I am a bit lost. I do not understand what you were doing in this forest. Could you tell me everything from the start? Take your time so that I understand well, and if there are things that are difficult to say, we can talk about it later. Okay?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A seems hesitant.

Dr. Aloices: If you do not know in which order to tell it, I can keep on asking you questions, if you like.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Alright miss, yes, I would like that.

Dr. Aloices: Very well, thanks! Well, first, maybe you can tell me how you ended up in the forest?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I didn't have a choice. Where I live, they decided that the boys had to go there as soon as we turn 10, so when it was my turn to go, the man we all call the Voice Bearer gave me a tape. My parents were very sad, but me, I didn't understand why. We were always told that it was cool, to go in the Great Outdoors, that it was the place where we were all destined to go someday and that the children went first to grow up there and become brave and proud? So when they took me to the room where I would listen to it all alone, I told them not to be sad and that everything would be okay. Then, I listened to the tape all alone while making sure to begin by the first side. I heard the voice of the Voice Bearer that explained things on the Great Outdoors, so well I tried to remember everything he said. When I put the second side on, I heard forest noises, as if there were trees, wind and birds in the room with me, then nothing all of a sudden. When I lifted my head, I was laying on the ground in the mud, in a forest with giant pines that were looking at me.

Dr. Aloices: I see, so it's to "the Great Outdoors" that the tape sends people to when listening to it. Had you heard about it before?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, sometimes we talk about it where I live, because there are lots of adults that already went there and that are all eager to return there. But the Elder said it should be the children first, even if one day we would all go together forever.

Dr. Aloices: And this Elder, whom you're talking about, do you know his name? Or do you know where he lives, where I could find him? Perhaps this would help us bring you back home…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: We call him the Elder but sometimes we also call him "You Who Brought Us the Voice", because according to the adults, he is the one that made it possible for us to go to the Great Outdoors. But he lives with us all and I already told you I didn't know where it is…

Dr. Aloices: Our teams are currently trying to look for where you could be coming from, feel free to tell us if you remember anything. What about we stop here for today?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes…

Following this interview, Dr. Aloices decided to talk daily with PoI-SCP-668-FR-A in order to know more in a more natural way about his time in the dimension of SCP-668-FR, now designated as "Universe of the Trees (UoT)". Research to determine the origin of the child and the identity of the people mentioned in the interviews is currently ongoing.

Dr. Aloices: And so, this "old man" you told me about when you arrived here, did you meet him right away when you arrived in the "Great Outdoors"?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Almost, yes… I came across him after spending a long time fleeing from this "Master of the Vestibule". Even if I ran and tried to put some distance between the serpent and I, I still felt he wasn't very far away from me. And then I stumbled on something on the ground. He was picking up roots to eat them… I was so happy to finally meet someone I didn't even notice right away that the serpent had stopped hunting me down.

Dr. Aloices laughs.

Dr. Aloices: Ah yes, you told me he ate awful things, but roots?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, it really didn't taste good! But at that time I didn't tell him that, I asked him who he was and what he was doing there. He looked… very sad all of a sudden and he said "Like you, I imagine, judging by your face", with a look as if he knew why I was here! He finished picking up his roots and started to leave, so I followed him and as he wasn't saying anything, I kept on following him. He lived in a not even really well-built old pile of wood…

Dr. Aloices: He had a place to live? Wasn't he worried about the serpent?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: He told me he had already killed "his", but I dunno, he often said silly things… But yes, he was living in an old pile of wood, all rotten up. He let me live there with him as I didn't really know where to go and we were "the same" according to him…

Dr. Aloices: Did you live with him for a long time? How did you do to survive?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Me, as I remembered the tape, I went searching things on hilltops whenever I was hungry. He didn't believe the Bearer and ate his roots, but when I brought back berries and leaves that smelled good, he changed his mind, eh! We spent a lot of time together, I tried to show him how to look for food and he told me his stories about the Great Outdoors, well mostly on the animals he had seen… he had been there for a really long time so he didn't even remember his life from before, but he had lots of small wood men that he had carved with a knife he picked up one day and he told me it kind of reminded him of the people he knew before arriving here.

Dr. Aloices: Is that the figurine you were talking about when you returned? We didn't find anything on you when you appeared, Julien…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: It doesn't matter… He gave it to me because he said "I guess you can return someday, not like me who gave up", so I had to bring it back to his family if I managed to get out, because they would recognize that it came from him, but as he was very old, I think they are already gone…

Dr. Aloices: Couldn't he have gotten out with you?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I don't know, he was all tired… Anyways, he was eaten, I saw him…

Dr. Aloices: Oh yes, by… a toad, right?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes! A giant toad! But he didn't see it because the toad was all flat on the ground and it had a hut in its mouth! The old man, he was all happy, he said the tape was right and the trees were magical and the forest had given up a hut without him needing to build it!…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A falls silent for a minute.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: After that, I ran away holding the figurine very tightly, I climbed up the highest hill I could find, and when I arrived at the top I suddenly saw a great blue sky and the sun, and I was on the edge of a cliff and I saw the forest up until really far away! I felt really weird, and then there was lots of sounds, scary birds and animals, and even a big head turned towards the sun that sticked out of the pines, so I sat and cried…

Dr. Aloices: The sun, you say? But the tape says "the sun will never shine on you", right? Is that an expression?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I dunno, but it's true that I never saw the sun when I was with the old man… After I left, it was then that I had days and nights…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A falls silent for a minute again.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Miss, can we stop here for today..?

Dr. Aloices ends the discussion.

[…]

Dr. Aloices: According to you, what was it that caused you to suddenly see the sun, that day?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I don't know… There are lots of things I didn't get in the Great Outdoors, and even the hunters that explained some stuff to me later on, well they had never heard of a place in the forest where there was only night or even of a tape that brought people there… However, when I told them about a Quest, they said that it's not exactly the same for them but that they come here too with a specific goal for each of them, else it would be useless to come. And by the way, they call this the "Great Hunt" because they come there to hunt lots of beasts, sometimes some that they bring themselves just for them, they said.

Dr. Aloices: Ah, so there are also hunters that roam the Great Outdoors. But without using the tape? Now that's interesting… Did you come across many of these hunters?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: As soon as I could be in the sun and climb down from the cliff, yes, I started to see several, but I didn't stay for long with them. Actually, many of them scared me with their eyes, they grunted almost like animals and it was obvious they were here just to kill. There is even one who was covered in blood and wounds and I think that if I had been just a bit smaller he would have hunted me down too with his long knife… But sometimes some were nice, and even if I couldn't come with them, they explained stuff about the trees and the forest to me.

Dr. Aloices: And so, what did you learn?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Mostly to avoid the most dangerous animals. There are many more than the tape says, when there is sun and not only night, even if some come out at night. Once, we were eating grilled dried meat with some hunters that were a bit old like my father, and they got up real quick and carried me while running. One of them fell but his friends didn't even wait for them, and he was laying down on the ground and he suddenly became even older and he slimmed down until only bones remained… We heard loud bird cries but we were already far, and his friends they told me they had no choice because it was "just him or him and us"…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A stays silent for a minute.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: It was him who explained the thing with the hills and cliffs to me…

Dr. Aloices: The "thing"?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A, gesturing with his hands : Okay then! Actually when the man of the tape says you need to go further and longer and all, it's because even when you go up a hill or just a slope because you need to go to the other side or there's something that's interesting you on it, there will always be something better if you climb down and go to another hill that seems farther and higher or more difficult to climb. Do you see?

Dr. Aloices nods.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: And so, the hunters they use that to find animals to eat, take shelter at night and stay longer in their "Great Hunt" and track their weird beasts. Well, it doesn't prevent them from getting killed sometimes…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A stays silent briefly, staring into space.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Once I saw a giant skeleton dragging the bodies of three hunters while hitting trees with them, and when he saw me he smiled…

Dr. Aloices ends the discussion.

Dr. Aloices: Last time, you told me about the times when you met hunters, but I believe you also mentioned adults who weren't hunters?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Ah yes, they are called the "lost children".

Dr. Aloices: Are they children or adults, then?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Adults, but… I think they are children like me who stayed too long in the Great Outdoors and who became… weird…

Dr. Aloices: Ah! And do they come from the same place as you?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I think some do and others don't, because some understood when I told them about the tape. But even those, they said there wasn't any message on it, for them it was just the tape with the forest sounds that sent them there.

Dr. Aloices: I see… That's an important piece of information! Maybe one detail they mentioned can help us find where you're from. Try remembering all of the details, alright? Did you stay for a while with them?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: At first when I met them they were nice, they understood we arrived here for the same reason. I told them my story and they told me most of them had forgotten their previous life, like the old man. Some asked me how some people I had never met were doing, and I think that's when they really understood they had been gone for too long for anyone to remember them. They said that at their time already, children were sent to the Great Outdoors to prepare for an "eggsodus" and that it was them who had been chosen.

Dr. Aloices: An exodus, yes, it is when a people or a community all move from a place to another at the same time.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Ah well that's it then. They said adults should have come to live here, but they never saw them and now it was them who were adults. Anyway, they were kind, they brought me to their village and suggested that I stay with them. It was some sort of wooden houses but on the side on the cliff! At night we could see the tops of pines until the river and it was pretty with all the Orbs that float among the branches, but we also heard the howling and laughter of weird dogs and we were all the happier to be higher up. And at least the serpents could not come chase us that high up.

Dr. Aloices: So far, nothing weirder than what you've already told me about your stay.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Actually, sometimes they disappeared early in the morning without telling me where they went, and only when they came back, they told me they had followed the wind to find some lost comrades. But they never came back with extra people, so I asked them if I could come with them once, just to see. They said yes and the next day we left just before sunrise. We walked a lot and they looked like they followed a certain path to avoid hills, and sometimes they stopped to listen to the trees by pressing their ear on it. Finally, we stopped to a place that didn't look really special, and one of them got out a really long knife and got closer to a tree he listened to just before. And they all started singing…

Dr. Aloices: Singing a particular song? Do you remember the lyrics?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: No, they weren't any lyrics, but rather sounds… sobs, sounds like owls, teeth chattering and very quick breaths. And then, the forest started to sing with them… The trees seemed like they answered them, that they had only one heart and that it was beating at the pace of their sounds. There was wind, lots of really strong wind, lots of bird cries, and then suddenly the one that held the knife drove it into the tree. The trunk started to bleed a lot on the blade and on the ground, like a waterfall that formed a river on the earth, and we heard noises of wood cracking and twisting everywhere around, then nothing. There wasn't even any bird sound anymore, just silence…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A stays silent for a while.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: They told me that when they leave like that, it's to look for their lost comrades, and that when they find them, they return them to the Great Wind, this way they're happier and less alone… I still remained with them but I never came again in the morning…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Once, I asked several of the "lost children" if they ended up finding their Quest or if that was what prevented them to leave. They all told me that this Quest thing was nonsense the adults told us to reassure us and ensure we listen to the tape without crying even when we won't see our parents again. But then, I understood my Quest!

Dr. Aloices: Ah yes, and what was it?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Well, if this is all nonsense, it means we can choose whatever we want, right? In the Great Outdoors, we need to always aim further, so then I, at this moment when they were mocking me, I told them that my own Quest was getting out of the forest and bringing back the old man's figurine to his family!

Dr. Aloices: That's very courageous. And what did they say?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: They kept on laughing and saying that it was idiot, that anyways if their family wasn't there anymore to wait for them on the other side, then Ivan's was obviously not there anymore either and-

Dr. Aloices: Hold up, Ivan?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Yes, Ivan..? That was what they called the old man, because they too knew him before getting out to the sun.

Dr. Aloices: Ivan, it's… the name mentioned by the Bearer in your tape, right?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A thinks for a while.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Maybe..? He never told me what his name was and I don't know if the lost children still really had a sound mind…

Dr. Aloices: Anyway, and so you still finally managed to get out, even if you didn't have the figurine on yourself. You tried to tell me how you escaped, but it looked very hazy. Do you remember more clearly now?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: A bit, I can try to tell you…

Dr. Aloices: Please.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: Hum, well… I remember it happened the day it rained, because everything happened because of it. I was with the lost children in their huts and all of a sudden there was a sound as if the entire forest was tearing apart and howling. It shook the cliff and all of the trees we could see, and several huts fell down. But the worst, it's that right after, it started to rain, but blood! It was everywhere and made some other huts crumble as well, we couldn't see anything, it smelled really bad and many people started to cry and say that it was a punishment, that we never should have harmed the forest, that we were not welcomed here, it was a real mess…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A stays silent for a minute.

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: But everyone started shouting when the serpents arrived. Or maybe they were already here and it was why everyone was in a panic? Well I didn't try to understand, I just ran away very far and high up. I didn't know where to go, I couldn't see a thing, the forest wasn't like usual and I had loud sizzling in my head… At first, I thought that it was the serpents that make us go mad, but the tape talked about the sizzling, so I tried to follow where the noises were the loudest to look for the Spire he talks about, I saw big wooden chunks from afar and I didn't see an edge, that's how I fell and came back here…

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A starts sobbing.

Dr. Aloices: Do you have any idea of what could have caused this rain of blood? Something that the lost children did?

PoI-SCP-668-FR-A: I dunno, but the forest didn't like that at all… The trees screamed, and if the serpents came out in the sun, it's because something that they didn't like at all happened…

Dr. Aloices ends the discussion by PoI-SCP-668-FR-A's request.

At the date of this recording, no additional information about the identity of PoI-SCP-668-FR-A could be found, and he is still housed in Site-Aleph.

In the light of the information gathered by Dr. Aloices from PoI-SCP-668-FR-A on the functioning of SCP-668-FR, the Universe of the Trees must be considered as a Extradimensional Place of Interest of priority 3/5.
A protocol of experimentation is currently being implemented in order to try to send and bring back D-Class personnel and/or field agents in the UoT.

Log of tests made with SCP-668-FR:

Foreword: As the trance-like state induced by a sensibility to SCP-668-FR can already be detected during the first seconds of the listening, it is possible to select D-Class personnel on which the effect of listening, and so the travel to the UoT, is guaranteed. The non-receptive subjects are made to leave the room and removed from the tests.

[Dripping noises.]

[A male human voice whines weakly.]

FEMALE, accompanied by a continuous sizzling

These lands are not for you, sinners. You try to bring your colors, your arrows and your armors here, but your blood is shed on Karassukand even before your dirty feet even tread its sacred ground. The beings that live and crawl and hunt and die there abhor your conspiracies and the filth you bring tear the quietness of their bones. Leave the Forest be and perhaps its trees may grant salvation to the souls that you forsook there. But I hear them grow impatient and their roots slip through the Voices to squeeze your bowels and pick them up like rotten fruit.

[Cracking noises.]

Last update on [12 Oct 2025 18:30]: No response from MTF-668-FR

Following the communication received on April 19th, 2023 from MTF-668-FR, all experiments aiming to send subjects in the Universe of the Trees are cancelled and the location has been reclassified as a Extradimensional Place of Interest of priority 1/5.
A bibliographic research protocol is ongoing in order to learn more about the UoT before resuming the testing.
