Author: ©︎ginger3738 ginger3738
Year: 2016
Item #: SCP-465-JP
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: A Fence A soundproof wall and a monitoring cabin are to be established around the SCP-465-JP manifestation area, where security guards are to be stationed. The guards are to patrol and monitor the area, in the guise of the Japan Fisheries Cooperative's wardens; any civilians approaching are to be addressed in accordance with the cover story "Appearance of Bears".
Description: SCP-465-JP is a mechanical entity that irregularly manifests on the riverbanks around the upper course of the ██████ River, which flows through Mt. ██████ in ██████ Prefecture, Japan. While its appearance resembles an obsolete drum-type washing machine manufactured by ██████, it bears no markings or logos indicating its manufacturer or distributor.
At random intervals, SCP-465-JP manifests by unknown means between 10:00 and 16:00. The active period before demanifesting is approximately 1 hour, although it disappears immediately if a human enters within a 10 m radius or if it is subjected to external interference such as the throwing of pebbles or the approach of a drone.
While SCP-465-JP has a mechanical appearance, it appears to be able to operate similarly to a normal washing machine, despite the absence of a power source in the surrounding area. Water used for washing is reported to be pumped from the river by a blue hose approximately 1 meter long connected to its main unit, although the presence of a pump or similar equipment has not been observed. A constant rattling noise of approximately 70 dB can be heard between manifestation and demanifestation of SCP-465-JP. Binocular observations from the monitoring cabin have revealed that SCP-465-JP is washing the azuki beans that spontaneously appear inside it, which is believed to be the source of the noise.
Since the establishment of containment by the Foundation on 2015/█/█, a pile of azuki beans weighing roughly 152 kg placed on a straw mat approximately 5 m in diameter, as well as a piece of piece of what appears to be washi paper with a text on it, have appeared at the SCP-465-JP monitoring site. The exact materials of the mat and paper remain unknown, as they disappear immediately upon human approach. A portion of the azuki beans that appeared are to be collected while the rest is to be stored in the monitoring cabin. The following is a transcript of the text on the paper.
My respect for your tireless work. Enjoy the treats if you'd like.
Addendum: Currently, SCP-465-JP has been reported to start taking the form that resembles a large grain washing machine, 3 m tall, with a noise level that has increased to nearly 110 dB during washing.
The amount of azuki beans provided by SCP-465-JP has also been increasing on a daily basis, and in parallel, there have been several reports of azuki beans disappearing throughout Japan one after another. Based on these facts, it is believed that the azuki beans being washed by SCP-465-JP have been stolen by unknown means; the reason why this went previously unnoticed is assumed to be because they were procured from various sources in very small quantities.
Due to price fluctuations caused by the disappearance of azuki beans in various locations, as well as the potential for containment breach and harm to nearby residents caused by noise, SCP-465-JP was reclassified as Euclid.
