Welcome: Dr. Robert

Item #: SCP-3942-JP

Object Class: Keter Safe (provisional)

Special Containment Procedures: It is believed that SCP-3942-JP is currently residing at Site-467. In case any dead person is found outside of Site-467 who is suspected to have been killed by SCP-3942-JP, its Object Class is to be updated to Keter and the former Special Containment Procedures are to be re-applied.

Entry to the Site-467 residential area is restricted between the hours of 1-2:00 AM. Personnel are prohibited from viewing surveillance camera footage taken during this period; an AIC has been tasked with reviewing the footage in case of any unforeseen circumstances. During this period, all personnel other than the SCP-3942-JP Target are prohibited from leaving their quarters and/or observing activities outside of their quarters.

The area where SCP-3942-JP is believed to reside is to be placed under surveillance by Foundation agents. Relocation of the inhabitants of the area in question are to be secretly suppressed, as it may cause SCP-3942-JP to relocate as well. In case any dead person suspected to have been killed by SCP-3942-JP is found outside the area, surveillance is to be transferred to the region where the body was found.

Description: SCP-3942-JP is a humanoid entity composed of body tissues from multiple humans and is believed to exist as a replacement for a specific individual. It should be noted that this is a hypothesis based on the integration of several fragmentary documents and testimonies, as the details are undetermined due to its properties, which are described below.

The true nature of SCP-3942-JP can only be perceived by an individual residing next to its place of living (hereafter referred to as the Target). To the non-target, SCP-3942-JP is perceived as the original person it has replaced. There have been no confirmed cases of SCP-3942-JP causing changes in relationships with non-targets or in its workplace.

If the Target communicates information about SCP-3942-JP to others or is perceived by others to be the SCP-3942-JP Target, the Target immediately dies. The person who becomes an SCP-3942-JP Target becomes aware that they must not share information about SCP-3942-JP with others, regardless of their knowledge of SCP-3942-JP. Generally, the Target shows gradual depressive tendencies following awareness of SCP-3942-JP, which has been determined to be a non-anomalous psychological response.

SCP-3942-JP replaces the former Target after their death, and an individual residing adjacent to their place of living becomes the new Target. If multiple persons meet the target criteria, one of them is selected at random. If there is no person meeting the target criteria, SCP-3942-JP relocates from the area, causes the death of a random person on Earth, and replaces them.

When the aforementioned anomalous properties cause the death of the Target, the SCP-3942-JP related information that they communicated, that they attempted to communicate, and that was perceived by others, as well as their corpse itself, acquire potent antimemetic properties. While the antimemetic properties gradually fade, it takes a minimum of one year before the affected information becomes observable. These properties render it difficult to pinpoint the exact geographic location of SCP-3942-JP, which is currently only roughly estimated.

Addendum: SCP-3942-JP is currently presumed to reside at Site-467. For approximately five years since 20██/██/██, when the last victim suspected to have been killed by SCP-3942-JP was found in the Site-467 residential area, no new bodies have been discovered on or off the site. Since no cases of SCP-3942-JP induced antimemetic properties persisting over five years have been confirmed, it can be assumed that no new deaths attributed to SCP-3942-JP have occurred.

    Subject: Regarding SCP-3942-JP

First and foremost, this is being sent to all staff. If you are not the SCP-3942-JP Target, please close this message and resume your duties.

To you, the SCP-3942-JP Target, I hope you have already checked the updated Special Containment Procedures. Between 1:00 and 2:00 AM, all personnel except you will retreat to their assigned quarters. Please come to Room 503, B wing of the residential area during this time as quietly as possible.

When you enter that room, you will find a computer. If there is anything you want, just type it in there. Just make sure not to leave anything on there that could identify you, otherwise we will do our best to accommodate your wishes. The next day or two after submitting your request, you will receive what you want in the room.

There will be a medal next to the computer. It is from us.

Unfortunately, though, it is an unofficial one. Apparently they won't give a medal to someone whose name is unknown.

So there will also be a fountain pen nearby. Please use it to write down your name on the medal, the name of a hero whom we will never know.

Thank you so much for your kindness. I've never received a medal like this before.

But I can't accept it. It's not that I haven't told others about it for the sake of containment.

    I'm just scared.

I'm not scared of dying. Well, maybe I'm afraid of dying, but I'm more afraid of losing it, SCP-3942-JP.

Maybe I'm just seeing an ideal in it, even though I know it's just a monster.

You know what, its appearance is totally wrong, but its behavior retains some semblance of the original.

The way it prepares coffee. How it gestures when it talks. The brown eye dangling over its cheek. And that oddly romantic style of writing.

Even though I know it's only an illusion, I can't help but think of you.

George. Please come back to me.

    Deletion completed.
