SCP-333-JP
rating: +4

Item #: SCP-333-JP

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-333-JP is to be contained in a dome-shaped containment facility with no flooring material, which was constructed around its original location. Construction of any structure, including other Foundation facilities, within a 200m radius of SCP-333-JP containment facility is prohibited. Since the internal environment of this containment facility simulates a forest, soil and plants should be maintained. Papers and pens are be placed inside the containment facility to communicate with SCP-333-JP; specific questions must be addressed in accordance with Manual 333-JP.

Description: SCP-333-JP is a humanoid entity whose head appears to be buried in the ground.

While SCP-333-JP's body is visually consistent with a normal human, it does not have any internal organs. Furthermore, it displays visual and auditory perception through unknown means and is able to communicate in writing. Gravitational force on SCP-333-JP seems to act in the opposite direction; the gravity has no influence on its movement, despite the fact that it is physically upside-down. SCP-333-JP can only move where exposed soil exists, and mainly prefers forest and grassland environments.

When SCP-333-JP encounters a threat that affects itself and the ground within a 30m radius (including underground), it causes supernatural phenomena to occur in its surroundings. Since this occurs independently of SCP-333-JP's intentions, and SCP-333-JP itself is not affected, it is presumed to be a reflexive reaction to protect itself. It is also known that SCP-333-JP enters a dormant state following the manifestation of anomalous properties.

# Cause Phenomenon
A A landslide. Trees around the location in question grew unusually fast and held back sediment.
B Burrowing by a rabbit. A localized, weak tsunami was produced on the shoreline about 800m away from the location in question.
C Logging. A hurricane with winds of 60 m/s developed at the location in question and remained for about 30 minutes. After the hurricane dissipated, the surrounding flora grew rapidly to regenerate the forest.
D An accident during transfer by D-Class personnel Hailstones, approximately 30cm in diameter, fell in a 100m radius.
E An experiment using Class D staff to determine the range of effects. [DATA EXPUNGED]

Testing has been prohibited since Phenomenon Record E.

Addendum-1: The existence of SCP-333-JP was first confirmed by the Foundation agents who had investigated the phenomenon that a village at the foot of Mt.████████ in ██████ Prefecture was saved from a landslide by trees that suddenly grew enormously. After SCP-333-JP was discovered dormant in a nearby forest, a researcher conducted an interview, which revealed the existence of other instances.

Interview Log 333-JP-1

Interviewee: SCP-333-JP

Interviewer: Researcher Hatanaka

Foreword: This interview was conducted after the temporary containment site was constructed and SCP-333-JP was briefed on the current situation; SCP-333-JP responded to the interview in writing.

<Log Begin>

Researcher Hatanaka: Nice to meet you. I have a few questions to ask you, but first, please state your name.

SCP-333-JP: I don't have a name. No one ever called me.

Researcher Hatanaka: I see. So, may I start asking questions?

SCP-333-JP: [Makes the "OK" hand sign.] I will answer as much as I can tell.

Researcher Hatanaka: Where have you been up to now?

SCP-333-JP: I was in the forest all the time. I love it. Plus I would get into trouble if humans found me.

Researcher Hatanaka: So you have lived here since your birth?

SCP-333-JP: [Scratches the ground] I don't know when I was born. When I noticed, I already existed and I was in the forest.

Researcher Hatanaka: I see. Then, how can you hear and see me without a head?

SCP-333-JP: [Emulates the gesture of sitting cross-legged in the air.] What are you talking about? My head is firmly placed on my neck.

Researcher Hatanaka: I don't see anything there.

SCP-333-JP: My head is under your feet!

Researcher Hatanaka: You mean your head exists in the underground?

SCP-333-JP: [Crosses its arms to make "X".] Totally not. You must be able to see my head right now. My head is so huge, extending far and wide.

Researcher Hatanaka: So… your head is the Earth?

SCP-333-JP: [Rubs the ground with its fingers] I don't know what the earth? thing is, but my head is under your feet.

Researcher Hatanaka: Alright. That will be all at this t-

SCP-333-JP: I'd like to ask you one thing.

Researcher Hatanaka: Yes?

SCP-333-JP: I guess you guys are protecting the oddballs like me? And you have great influence, right?

Researcher Hatanaka: Well, sort of.

SCP-333-JP: Would you please help me out a bit?

Researcher Hatanaka: For what exactly?

SCP-333-JP: There are other guys who are using my head. I'd like to meet them and discuss who this head belongs to.

Researcher Hatanaka: Are you suggesting that there are other entities like you?

SCP-333-JP: [Thumbs up] Exactly. I vaguely know where they are, but they're all across the ocean. I can't cross the ocean so I'm gonna need your help.

Researcher Hatanaka: I understand. But to do so, we will need a better understanding of your abilities. Would you care to come to our facility for that?

SCP-333-JP: I don't mind. I just want to make things right with them.

<Log End>

Addendum-2: Investigations after Interview Log 333-JP-1 led to the discovery and containment of four additional instances.

# Description
01 Discovered in the forest located in Mt. ████████, ██████ Prefecture, Japan. Medium-built male of Asian descent, wearing a typical business suit.
02 Discovered in a grassland area located in ██████████, UK. Obese male of European descent, wearing a kilt.
03 Discovered in Everglades National Park, USA. Slightly obese female of African descent, dressed in peasant's clothing circa 1800s.
04 Discovered in the mountainous forest area of the Himalayas, located in the state of ███████████, India. Slightly slender female of Asian descent, wearing a baju kurung.
05 Discovered in ██████ National Park, Australia. Muscular male of Indigenous Australian descent, dressed in a traditional Aboriginal clothing.

Each instance of SCP-333-JP is aware of the existence of other instances and their approximate locations, and uniformly claims that the Earth is its own head. While all instances have desired to make contact with other instances to discuss the ownership of their "head", they are unable to cross the ocean due to their inability to leave the ground. Therefore, it is currently believed that SCP-333-JP instances are virtually impossible to contact each other.

Currently, SCP-333-JP instances are contained in a form of partnership with us. But we certainly should not let them sit around a round table. Sure, SCP-333-JP instances may find a peaceful and reasonable conclusion through discussion. However, we must never overlook the possibility that they will decide to slice the Earth like a pie. Fortunately, SCP-333-JP instances are all obedient and gentle by nature. As long as we keep telling them that we haven't found the means to cross the ocean, they will believe it. We can effectively contain them at this time; therefore, we should maintain the status quo.
We cannot afford even a single failure. - Dr. ██████
