Item #: SCP-CN-1999
Object Class: Safe Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-CN-1999-1 through -8 are stored in a Large Vacuum Suspension Chamber located on Earth's surface. Research personnel are to wear levitation devices when interacting with the object and may carry out non-destructive experiments on the object.
Description: SCP-CN-1999 is a type of entity composed of a special material, formed from human fantasies regarding the sky (that is, the space above Earth's surface). On 3091/█/██, SCP-CN-1999, which had not manifested for five Earth years, manifested in large quantities at an altitude of 100km above the Earth's surface and began to fall to the surface. ████ instances were recorded, all of which were in forms that had previously manifested. While falling, SCP-CN-1999 continuously dispersed, and many instances manifested upon reaching the ground; when different instances touched, they intersected and combined to form a new entity. The Foundation rapidly mobilized 8 large levitation devices to contain eight different entities designated SCP-CN-1999-1 through SCP-CN-1999-8; all other entities dissipated either in the air or upon touching the ground.
SCP-CN-1999-1 through -8 are compound entities, each of which is approximately 5 to 10 km wide. Although these entities have been contained in suspension chambers, they are still slowly dissipating, and are expected to fully disappear at the beginning of the 36th century. SCP-CN-1999-1 through -8 are as follows:
SCP-CN-1999-1: 10 km x 5 km x 7 km. Appears to be a horizontally cut open blue whale, with a floating city embedded in its top. The city contains many old-style robot figures. The whale's mouth, fins and tail have chains attached to them, connecting to a large door located on the bottom.
SCP-CN-1999-2: 6 km x 6 km x 9 km. Appears to be eight horizontally flying wild geese, of which two have been mechanically modified, with their necks and torsos mechanized; their wings have been equipped with mechanical rotors connected to their original feathers. A large amount of metal tracks and steam locomotives are embedded into the torsos and wings of the geese at a 20° angle to the vertical.
SCP-CN-1999-3: 7 km x 7 km x 7 km. Appears to be three ray fish and a large mechanical orrery. The orrery's axles and the orbits of various planet models pass through and connect with the fish. Not all the planets are round, and there are rhombus-shaped and pentagonal planets, which produce a faint glow.
SCP-CN-1999-4: 10 km x 7 km x 6 km. Appears to be a fantasy creature, possessing three heads of different birds, a fish-like torso, and a long tail, with two pairs of bird wings and one pair of insectoid wings. A large flying ship is embedded in its belly, which is structurally incapable of flight.
SCP-CN-1999-5: 10 km x 10 km x 10 km. Appears to be a combination of clouds and aurora, which produces a green light; this effect is produced by the special material; physical contact causes the material to dissipate. In the lower half of the object, the clouds slowly change into a fixed solid, which appears to be a large stack of thin sheets.
SCP-CN-1999-6: 6 km x 6 km x 8 km. Appears to be three hot air balloons of different sizes, of which one of the balloons has been replaced with a human eye. An animal skeleton bends and passes through all of the balloons. This skeleton does not match any known animal, but is similar in shape to a horizontal fishbone. Near the front of the skeleton is the head of a fantasy animal, which corresponds to the dragon from ancient Chinese mythology. The head is complete, and part of it extends backward.
SCP-CN-1999-7: 7 km x 7 km x 7 km. Appears to be a 22nd-century gas-expulsion aircraft facing upward. A large number of fir trees grow from the underside of the plane's wings and body, forming an inverted forest. In addition, a large volume of water flows from the top of the plane, abruptly stopping at 7 km.
SCP-CN-1999-8: 5 km x 5 km x 9 km. Appears to be an alien spaceship from a 19th century audiovisual work and a 25th century commercial flying device intersecting, with a large ring composed of an unknown metal. As the door of the ship is open, access to the interior is possible. The ship's control systems consist of 21st century style buttons, 23rd century touch controls and 28th century floating taskbars. The interiors of the spaceship and flying device contain fantasy creatures, which primarily consist of imaginative figures of various extraterrestrial organisms.
As SCP-CN-1999 no longer manifests, it is thought that the currently contained SCP-CN-1999-1 through -8 are the only remaining SCP-CN-1999. All attempts to slow the dissipation of the entities, including the installation of reality anchors, have failed. The anomaly will be automatically reclassified Neutralized upon complete neutralization. All instances have been destroyed or manifested. SCP-CN-1999 has thus been reclassified Neutralized. See Proposal CN-1999-Alpha.
Proposal CN-1999-Alpha
Summary: Conserve containment costs and accelerate research into SCP-CN-1999's material
Content: SCP-CN-1999 has essentially been neutralized, but continues to occupy a large space. Although the Earth's atmosphere has not been fully filled, we should not use so much effort to contain eight large objects that are essentially the same except in shape, especially since they will cease to exist in 500 years. Understanding their form is not our primary work; rather, it is determining the composition of these objects.
As such, I propose:
1. Leave one instance of SCP-CN-1999 as a sample;
2. Further research remaining SCP-CN-1999 instances, allowing destructive testing as needed.
Postscript: This proposal was approved. CN-1999-Alpha testing has not produced any possible results. SCP-CN-1999-2 through -8 were destroyed. As of ER 3548, SCP-CN-1999-1 has dissipated.
