Welcome, Guest. Are you new to Oneiroi? If you are, I suggest you start reading from the bottommost section.
Foundation Collective — often shortened to FC in formal documents, and simply called the Foundation or various other names based on urban legends and rumors in informal settings — is a collective consciousness reconstructed on the human subconscious network with the same functions, purposes, principles and psychology as the Foundation in reality.
Its main activity is to suppress, manage, and control the disorder, chaos, and anomalous factors brought to Oneiroi networks from all possible sources, including reality. Most of these activities involve the securing, containment, and protection of conceptual Anomalies/Eldritches/Objects in dreams. Their treatment and research activities are also conducted in a largely similar manner to the real Foundation.
While the states under FC jurisdiction are widely distributed around the world, many of them are disguised and hidden as highly localized small collectives, or as underdeveloped areas under the control of large collectives such as Oneiroi West. There is a rumor that undercover agents, ostensibly acting as oneiromancers, are deliberately lowering the property values in these areas in order to maintain this status; no official response has been given by FC government.
Most of the subconscious that encompasses their key facilities, major cities, and capitols are either placed in local area environments that are separated from all Oneiroi networks, or behave as if they are hazardous zones (for example, the areas under the control of Oneiroi Collective), thereby preventing the intrusion of any group. In many of these jurisdictions, the positional coordinates are not disclosed to anyone except FC members assigned to them. Likewise, the actual existence of the FC's area of origin, as well as the cities and capitols where their ruling governments are located, has not been made public to date.
The main FC activities described above are performed by approximately 32% non-corporeals (pure Oneiroi) and 20% corporeals (dreamer shadows). It should be noted, however, that not all corporeals are Foundation personnel in reality. Some of them subconsciously join FC during their sleep to conduct research and missions; and upon awakening, they forget all about the events in their dreams (while in a few cases, some have been under the protection of the real Foundation, and others have been recruited as research advisors to it).
As for the entities composed of dream element, which are the largest part of the ethnic group in FC (approximately 35%), a portion of them are effectively utilized as defense and disguise functions, or as drones for reconnaissance and surveillance. As in previous examples, it is unknown which ethnic group the FC government officials fall under. It is also occasionally pointed out that the actual proportion of ethnic groups may not match the officially announced percentage, although this is mostly ignored.
Members newly welcomed into the collective are assigned to various positions, such as Mobile Task Forces, Containment Specialists, Research Teams, System Engineers, depending on their knowledge and aptitude. In several cases, however, their duties may greatly differ from those in the real Foundation, due to their self-awareness, autonomy, and other qualities as Oneiroi. It is not uncommon for some personnel to be unaware of their double life in two Foundations that exist in both dream and reality.
When corporeal members expire, a certain number of them are re-employed into the collective as non-corporeals. In recent years, the number of FC-related corporeal shadows descending as pure Oneiroi has steadily increased. Although it has been rumored that there is a mechanism to provide a certain level of directionality in this matter, FC government officials have denied it.

Currently listing partial disclosable information on Foundation Collective …
Collective Overview: Foundation Collective (FC) is a collective consciousness that serves as the Foundation in the dream world. Its purpose and ideology is largely similar to that of the real Foundation, contributing to the maintenance of normalcy in reality by securing and studying anomalies that manifest, lurk, or cause harm in the human subconscious.
No official statement from the government regarding the origin of the collective has been made to date. While it is rumored that access to relevant information requires a certain level of authority (equivalent to a high-ranking government official), the truth is unknown.
For other details, see additional reference files. However, please keep in mind that many of them are often suggested to be either inaccurate or dummies/disinformation.
Ruling Government: The governmental structure of FC is believed to have an organizational form that bears many similarities to the real Foundation. In addition to that, it has also been announced in the past that the government leadership overseeing the collective is the O5 Council.
However, it is unclear whether these leaders are the shadows of actual O5 Council members, or Oneiroi without physical bodies in reality. Likewise, it is unknown if there are separate O5 Councils in dream and reality. Any attempt to perceive the actual situation is strongly discouraged.
The foundation/basis of FC government has been confirmed as strongly demonstrating a secretive nature. While this serves as a robust security within the territory, it may be to the detriment of some of its members.
Jurisdictional Cities: FC covertly maintains jurisdictional territories in a variety of subconscious areas around the world, which contain clusters of cities with various uses, such as relay points, monitoring stations, storage facilities, shelters, containment facilities, and research facilities.
Among them, the cities that serve as the main and important bases for FC activities are constructed only in subconscious areas that meet stricter selection criteria. Once a city is established, it is not rare for the host that encompasses the territory to be taken under the protection of the real Foundation.
Although there is a theory that a jurisdictional territory exists in every Foundation personnel's subconscious, it is considered to be unreliable. On the other hand, many FC members support the hypothesis that all Foundation personnel' subconscious is safeguarded in order to prevent information leakage through Oneiroi networks.
Their own local networks, established by connecting only their jurisdictional territories, are commonly referred to as FC Network. In most cases, however, a certain level of clearance seems to be required to travel between these cities.
Personnel Composition: It is believed that the majority of FC members are Shadows/Oneiroi who are/were actually Foundation personnel in reality.
However, it is not yet announced how many of them are/were able to recognize that they are/were participating in FC in their dreams. Similarly, there are frequent cases where Shadows/Oneiroi originating from non-Foundation personnel are/were employed or cooperated with FC, though the exact total number of such cases has yet to be calculated.
When a corporeal dies in reality, they have a certain chance of being re-employed by the FC as a non-corporeal. However, the exact probability and process of this is apparently still unknown. Although rumors suggest that some personnel have been active for over ███ years, their authenticity is not certain due to the secretive nature of the collective and its members. Nor will it ever be.
Do you think there are too many abstract and vague explanations? Perhaps, but we are in a dream, after all. It might be better not to think too much about it.

By the way, would you like to know more about Foundation Collective?
About This Canon
Based on the concept and worldview of "Subconscious Internet" originating from Oneiroi Hub, this canon is a collection of works describing stories related to "Foundation Collective", which is the SCP Foundation in dreams, developed independently by SCP-JP Branch.
As has already been explained in several sections, the goals and ideology of Foundation Collective are similar to those of the Foundation in reality. They contribute to the maintenance of normalcy in reality through activities such as securement, containment, research, and concealment of anomalies and supernatural phenomena in the subconscious of humanity. That being said, their background and origins are shrouded in mystery, just like the real Foundation.
In SCP-EN Oneiroi related articles, on which this canon is built, there are also Foundation agents secretly working in dreams called Mobile Task Force Omicron-Rho (The Dream Team). However, when compared to the era/world where only the Dream Team exists, the world where Foundation Collective was established has a noteworthy difference in that the Foundation's oneiric technologies have dramatically developed, either through simple technological advancement over time, or due to rapid progress caused by some mutational factor.
Originally, these differences arose from my considerations about the Subconscious Internet mentioned above: "With the existence of human subconscious all over the world, how can the Foundation monitor, contain, and conceal anomalies and disturbances arising from the subconscious with only the Dream Team and other limited resources?", or "If Oneiroi can travel between the human subconscious, could they infiltrate the Foundation personnel's subconscious and cause an information leakage?" — These questions inspired me with an idea: "Maybe the Foundation with highly advanced oneiric technology exists in our dreams?"
Therefore, if you want to write an article based on this canon, you may be able to distinguish your article from other Oneiroi-related ones by keeping this aspect in mind. Another advantage is that you can make the most of the "Foundation in dreams" situation and portray the anomalies contained in the real-world Foundation from the perspective of the dream-world Foundation or in the form of their reports. For example, the Foundation may be able to interfere, negotiate, and contain some conceptual and psychological anomalies if they are in the dream.
As stated before, due to the fact that this canon is founded on specific concepts and worldviews derived from Oneiroi Hub, the articles created here will be tagged with "oneiroi" in most cases.
Oneiroi Network
Many articles on the Oneiroi say that during sleep, people become entities known as "Shadows" or "Oneiroi" and operate in the subconscious, which is our personal dream. They also inhabit the subconscious of waking people, and can travel freely from one person's subconscious to another.
This state of Oneiroi freely moving between human subconscious areas, as well as the interconnection between multiple individuals' subconscious, is called the "Subconscious Internet" or "Oneiroi Networks" as mentioned above.
To simplify things, let's replace sleep with "logging into a VR chat room," Oneiroi with "avatars," our subconscious with "servers," and Oneiroi Networks with "Internet connections". You sleep to log in to a VR chat and experience the environment, scenery, and events in a server through your avatar. And then you can go to another server via your Internet connection and interact with other avatars.
However, anomalies do manifest even in the subconscious, and it is not surprising that various types of chaos and disorder are introduced through the interconnected network. These can be Oneiroi who possess unusual properties, nightmares brought to us due to the nature of the real-world anomalies, or non-corporeal invaders from higher planes of existence.
One of Foundation Collective's main objectives is to secure, contain, and protect them in the same manner as the real-world Foundation, as well as to maintain the normalcy of Oneiroi Networks, thus minimizing their negative impact on reality.
Unlimited Technology and Members
As described above, the technology possessed by Foundation Collective is extremely advanced and difficult to understand, not only compared to that of the Foundations of parallel universes, but also to that of most of Oneiroi communities.
Just to name a few: visualizing dreams, turning humans into Oneiroi, containing metaphysical entities, taking over physical bodies with Oneiroi, becoming pure Oneiroi by giving up their biological form, and so on. The list goes on and will continue to grow. On the other hand, it should be noted that in almost half of the cases, it remains unclear how the technological basis was acquired or discovered (although of course there are many technologies based on research results).
Foundation Collective personnel utilize these technologies to infiltrate the subconscious of various individuals around the world. Their job roles are similar to those of real-world Foundation, such as researchers, system engineers, field agents, directors, and many more. However, there are many positions that have not yet been given official titles, or are not even known to the general personnel at all.
— The point I've been trying to say so far is that each author can freely introduce new technologies and job roles, and can construct stories about their origins without any restrictions whatsoever.
Likewise, you are allowed to freely choose how Foundation Collective members look in reality. A lowly janitor in reality may be an elite researcher in dreams, or a university professor in reality may unwittingly join the collective as a research advisor in dreams. It would also be a good idea to write stories about what happens after someone has lost their physical body in reality.
Hidden Territories
Within the vast Oneiroi networks throughout the world, Foundation Collective utilizes numerous subconscious areas as its own jurisdictional territories. Many of them are hidden and disguised from other Oneiroi and collectives by their own technology. You can safely assume that this thoroughly secretive attitude is basically the same as the real-world Foundation.
Because of their secrecy, they do not disclose the locations of FC capitol and major cities — the subconscious areas where the collective's Administrator/O5 Council is supposed to reside — or any other important territories related to their origins. However, this is also one of the aspects that can be freely interpreted by each author and depicted in the articles.
Not only that, it is possible that the subconscious of the real-world Foundation personnel may have been protected by Foundation Collective in order to prevent them from leaking information to Oneiroi. If you would like to describe a jurisdictional territory established in an ordinary person's subconscious, one way to go is to consider the advantages and disadvantages to this person who is the "host" of the subconscious.
Given this opportunity to set the stage for storytelling in the subconscious of all ages and genders, it may help you to write articles for this canon if you keep in mind the secretive stance and various aspects of Foundation Collective that I have mentioned so far.
Relationships with Other Collectives
On the human subconscious Internet, there are many other collectives of Oneiroi besides Foundation Collective. These are made up of dream-world entities that have come together for a variety of purposes, such as hobbies, information gathering, entertainment, killing time, beliefs, religions, or for no apparent reason. Smaller ones act like fansites, while larger ones are more like social media platforms.
Foundation Collective does not actively seek to associate or connect with these various collectives. And at the same time, most of these collectives are not fully aware of the existence of Foundation Collective and its normalcy maintenance activities.
However, it is also true that the existence of Foundation Collective continues to be rumored by many Oneiroi in the form of a kind of urban legend or myth. Furthermore, FC could have some kind of contract, secret agreement, or transaction with the governments of several major collectives including Oneiroi West.
As a matter of fact, Foundation Collective has infiltrated several external collectives with their operatives, and has re-employed several members of these as "insiders" or "observation sleepers". Anyway, we never know the actual situation, and no definite setting is disclosed (which means that this is another subject open to interpretation by each author).
And then there is Oneiroi Collective, a particularly alien collective among all the others; FC's relationship with them is also unclear. While OC is registered as a Group-of-Interest by the real-world Foundation, most of the information about their objectives, origins, scale, and technical capabilities is vague and obscure, even in dreams. On the other hand, however, we can think positively that because most of them are shrouded in mystery, this is an opportunity to explore the relationship with Foundation Collective afresh.
Dreams / Subconscious
Literally, this term refers to the "dream world" that each individual experiences during sleep. In many of the Oneiroi-related articles, it also means the "subconscious world".
Each dream/subconscious world keeps existing even while the individual who hosts it is awake. Oneiroi seem to travel around the oneiric networks connecting nearby humans as if they were surfing the web. This is what gave rise to the concept of "Subconscious Internet".
In some cases, collectives of Oneiroi have built "cities" in the subconscious of individuals; the hosts may experience some positive or negative effects as a result of this.
Shadow / Oneiroi
Each individual has an "avatar" in dreams. During sleep, many people become Shadows/Oneiroi, and can interact with their own and other people's subconscious worlds.
However, there seem to be various types and natures of Shadow/Oneiroi. Many people are not aware that they can exist in dreams, or do not remember any of their activities as an Oneiroi after awakening.
Similarly, not all Oneiroi have the above-mentioned ability to travel between human subconscious networks. Despite the risks involved, the travel ability can be acquired through special training and techniques.
Oneiroi Hub does not explicitly state the difference between a Shadow and an Oneiroi; if we assume that a Shadow is literally a "shadow/aspect of a real-world physical body," we can interpret it to mean "corporeals" among Oneiroi.
Corporeals / Dreamers
The term "corporeals" refers to organism-based Shadows/Oneiroi who are dreaming through sleep. Essentially, they are those who are logging into dreams while leaving their physical body in reality.
There are cases where the "dreamers" is used with a similar meaning; it may be a term that more directly describes the real-world people who access the subconscious.
Because of such background, corporeals appear to have some limitations and disadvantages in their dream-world activities compared to "non-corporeals" described below. There are cases in which the effects on a Shadow also impact on its subconscious, and even on its real-world mind and body. Similarly, if a Shadow is improperly separated from its host, it can lead to coma or other symptoms.
Non-Corporeals / Pure Oneiroi
In contrast to corporeals, it refers to those who have abandoned their real-world physical bodies for some reason and descended into the subconscious world. They can be described as avatars that are always logged in to the dream and walk around on their own.
A similar term, "pure Oneiroi," can also be found in some cases; this may be a different way of describing the state of having completely abandoned the physical form and entered the dream world.
They have more freedom of activity in the subconscious networks than corporeals, and seem to be basically immune to death, although it is said that some have grown tired of their immortality. It is unknown how many corporeals can become non-corporeal Oneiroi after their death.
Dream Entities
As the name implies, this term refers to "entities in the dream-world". Unlike Shadows/Oneiroi, they are born in dreams, and can be described as AIs or NPCs derived from their hosts' subconscious.
In most cases, their nature is linked to the host's subconscious and mental state, which may determine whether they are hostile or friendly. There are also situations where anomalies affect the dream entities and greatly change their nature and properties.
It should be emphasized that there are currently no articles that clearly define the details of dream entities; you should be mindful that this term may simply be used to encompass all Oneiroi or beings born in dreams.
Collectives
Collectives are groups of Oneiroi in the subconscious world. Apparently, any group of minds can be a Collective, and they are commonly referred to by names of the form "XXX Collective". While there are several instances where the name does not contain the word "Collective", it is still a Collective in the context of a group.
They vary in scale, from a few dozen members like a hobbyist club to tens of thousands of Oneiroi. If we apply the concept of " Subconscious Internet", we can say that they are various community websites (just like our SCP Wiki) established by people who share the same interests.
Note that the Group-of-Interest "Oneiroi Collective" and the concept of "Collectives of Oneiroi" are not the same thing.
Oneiroi West
The largest and most coherent Collective of Oneiroi in existence. Its members include both corporeals and non-corporeals, all of whom are capable of traveling through subconscious networks, and are aware that they are in dreams.
Observation sleepers and Mobile Task Force agents from the Foundation/FC appear to have infiltrated OW as members and operate in the dark. Meanwhile, it is unclear how extensive OW's knowledge of the existence of the Foundation/FC is. As a group with the widest network, it is often used as a stage setting in many tales.
Oneiroi Collective
A mysterious and massive group of Oneiroi. They appear to be an enigma not only to the Foundation, but to the other Oneiroi as well, and much remains unexplained. It should be noted that this is the only group of Oneiroi that has been designated as a Group-of-Interest by the real-world Foundation.
It is generally considered to be a collective consciousness located in metaphysical space, and is known to manifest in physical space as inanimate objects or organisms that can interact with the dream-world (i.e. anomalies that would be secured and contained by the Foundation).
OC's objectives are unknown, and its behavior in related articles and its relationship with other Oneiroi and the Foundation/FC is extremely obscure. Recently, however, it seems to have a growing tendency to attempt to bring dreams into reality, even if only in a pseudo-realistic way. Its origins are also still unclear, but there are some rumors that it is a group originating from outer space or a parallel universe.
OC is often confused with "Collectives of Oneiroi" mentioned above, but they are completely different concepts. From a meta-perspective, multiple authors have agreed that things got really complicated by the fact that the group "Oneiroi Collective" was first mentioned in the articles, and then the "Oneiric Internet" setting was developed.
So far, I have explained the worldview and terminology of "Oneiroi" and "Foundation Collective". As you may have already noticed, I have basically told you that you can freely add or change the setting to suit your articles.
This is because there are very few existing Oneiroi-related articles that have detailed descriptions or explanations of each term, setting, and background. As a result, authors have to write their articles in settings that depend on their own headcanons.
On the positive side, freedom means that you can create new things as you please and your headcanon can become a major setting in the future. On the other side, it is also true that this freedom may be a major obstacle if you intend to conceptualize a related article for the first time, or if you intend to create one based on the previous settings.
In this section, I will provide a few examples of how to interpret the "dream-world," which can be confusing even for authors who have read/written some related articles.
Example 1: A Dream is a Subconscious Experience
Every human being has a unique subconscious; when you sleep, your own Shadow is created in there. In the subconscious, there is a dream-based ecosystem composed of dream entities, and sometimes other Shadows/Oneiroi visit. And if you are skilled enough, you can move your Shadow into the other person's subconscious.
However, not all people are able to clearly perceive and remember experiences and events in the subconscious. In many cases, human completely forget the dream entities and temporary visitors who they witnessed and interacted with in their subconscious upon awakening, or think that they were just random characters in a dream.
Furthermore, most of those who lack the proper qualities to be an Oneiroi can only experience flashbacks based on their own identity and real-life experiences, along with an accompanying disordered and chaotic collage of subconscious elements during sleep. As such, they usually do not pay attention to, or are not even aware of, the other Shadows/Oneiroi that travel and reside in their subconscious.
Or maybe, when a host cannot understand that they are experiencing a dream, their subconscious may not be a suitable place for other Shadows/Oneiroi to interact because it is a highly unstable area where the landscape and structure frequently switches or where dream entities repeatedly appear and disappear according to the contents of flashbacks. In such a case, it would be rare for transients to attempt to communicate with the host's Shadow, or possibly they would leave early to avoid encountering the host's Shadow when they goes to sleep.
Example 2: Dream World in Different Layers
Every human being has a unique metaphysical space, the "dream world", and everyone creates/emerges their own Shadow into this space during sleep. Its interior and structure change in response to the owner's identity, real-life events, and subconscious factors, and dream entities are created or deleted accordingly. Humans perceive the events experienced within this space during sleep as dreams upon awakening.
Several Shadows can travel from their own dream world to that of other layers, namely the "collective consciousness" composed of multiple individuals interconnected by "Oneiroi Networks". Only a very small number of Shadows acquire this mobility, and the majority of them never leave their host-specific dream world.
A host-specific dream world is a completely independent realm that is rarely visited by other human-based Shadows/Oneiroi. Conversely, the fact that many non-mobile Shadows are secluded in their own space may be the reason why other Shadows/Oneiroi are able to freely travel to and from each individual as a relay point or as a temporary residence.
This tab provides a simple list and explanation of terms that frequently appear in Oneiroi-related articles or are strongly associated with Foundation Collective, for the purpose of reference, citation, and usage in writing articles based on this canon. Please note that the terms and their explanations listed below are partially derived from/dependent on the respective authors' headcanons and are not guaranteed to be accurate.
For related terms throughout the articles tagged "Oneiroi", you may find this helpful (Note that it is an external Japanese wiki, and that these are also descriptions derived from/dependent on personal headcanons).

- Dream Element - Roughly synonymous with Noncon. It seems to refer to elements composing dreams, or purely dream-based entities unlike corporeals originating from reality. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Dream Entities - A term that literally refers to entities in dreams. Unlike Oneiroi, they are born in dreams, and can be described as AIs or NPCs derived from their hosts' subconscious. Their nature may be linked to the host's subconscious and mental state. It should be noted that there is currently no article that clearly defines them, and this term may simply be used to encompass all Oneiroi or beings born in dreams. (Source: SCP-2876, etc.)
- Dream Team - Alias for MTF Omicron-Rho. (Source: Black Lotus, etc.)
- Dream - Synonymous with the subconscious world. (Source: SCP-2876, etc.)
- Dreamer - Roughly synonymous with corporeals. It more directly describes the real-world people who access the subconscious by sleeping. (Source: Sleeping Under the Stars, etc.)
- Eldritch - A word meaning "supernatural," "creepy," or the like. In Oneiroi-related articles, it is used as one of the terms for "paranormal beings". Not all of these are hostile in dreams (if you disregard the fact that they differ greatly in description and nature from general Oneiroi/dream entities), but the highly dangerous ones are subject to FC containment. (Source: SCP-1936-JP, etc.)
- Emmigration Status - One of the basic Collective information. It indicates whether or not a person can leave a Collective. Usually the status is stated as "Closed" or "Open". (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Ethnic Groups - One of the basic Collective information. The percentage of entities that comprise a Collective. Major types include "Noncon", "Free Consciousness", "Corporeal", and "Transitory"; see each section for details. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
F~J
- FC SUBNET - A network that serves as a standard search scope within Foundation Collective. Presumably, it covers the subconscious of Foundation personnel, which is Foundation Collective's sphere of control. (Source: #Aeliana, etc.)
- FC Local Area Network - A network that connects only a limited territory (local area) within Foundation Collective. Considering that Foundation Collectives deal with a variety of oneiric anomalies, it is no wonder that there are narrow/limited networks for each research team. (Source: A Well-Kept Child is a Well-Slept Child, etc.)
- Foundation Collective - A Collective composed of Foundation personnel Oneiroi. It mainly deals with anomalies that affect and appear in the human subconscious. The existence of FC is concealed from other Collectives as it seems to constitute a closed, local Oneiroi network. (Source: amamiel's Proposal, etc.)
- Foundation News - A news page that is accessible exclusively within Foundation Collective. Unlike other collectives' news pages, its content seems to be more about disclosure, dissemination, and reporting of information about anomalies related to Oneiroi and the subconscious, perhaps because it is only available to Foundation personnel. (Source: #Aeliana, etc.)
- "Foundation" - The name of an unknown Collective, mentioned on an oneiric website. While this seems to refer to Foundation Collective or the real-world Foundation, it is unclear to what extent Oneiroi and their Collectives outside the Foundation understand or are aware of its existence and activities; they may merely consider it to be an urban legend like the Men in Black. (Source: #Mausolus, etc.)
- Free Consciousness - A type of ethnic group that comprises a Collective. The term is generally used to describe Oneiroi, but probably refers to non-corporeals in this context. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Government - One of the basic Collective information. It describes the political system within a Collective. Some Collectives may deny the existence of a government or system, or may have its own unique political structure. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Hoot - The equivalent of a "Tweet" in an oneiric Twitter-esque SNS. It represents the call of an owl; owl-like symbols can often be seen in the dream world. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Host - A term that, from the perspective of Oneiroi, refers to a real-world entity, in whose subconscious they reside or their Collective's territory is located. Given that the dream-world is often associated with networks, it could be a play-on-words with "host computer". (Source: #Xiupania, etc.)
- Immigration Status - One of the basic Collective information. It indicates whether or not a person can apply to join a Collective. Usually the status is stated as "Closed" or "Open". (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Isolated Area - An area where the interconnection between the hosts' subconscious areas has been disconnected for whatever reason, making Oneiroi unable to travel or communicate with each other. Research teams at Foundation Collective are working on developing related technology and studying this, as a means of containing and isolating dream-based anomalies. (Source: SCP-1936-JP, etc.)
K~O
- Largest City - One of the basic Collective information. It seems to refer to the name of a host, whose subconscious is the most populated or the largest area in a Collective's territory. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Mobile Task Force Omicron-Rho - A Mobile Task Force organized by a few mentally hardened individuals who successfully underwent rigorous training to become Oneiroi. As they use their talents to investigate the dreams/subconscious, their codename can also be found in various dream-related articles, even when the anomalies have no explicit relation to Oneiroi. While they seem to have some connections to Oneiroi Collective, the details are unknown. (Source: Black Lotus, etc.)
- Nightmare Collective - A kind of calamity/disaster with no capital or largest city, having a negative impact on Oneiroi, their territory and their hosts. It seems to be formed when an event occurs in reality that has a significant impact on the mental state of a large number of people. Although it is suggested that there are several types of them, the details are unknown. (Source: Restless Dreams, etc.)
- Noncon - A type of ethnic group that comprises a Collective. Although this term is treated as synonymous with "dream element," it does not specify what exactly it means. If we assume that it is a component of dreams or a dream-based entity, it may stand for "non-conceptual" or "non-consciousness". (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Non-Corporeals - Oneiroi who have abandoned their real-world physical bodies for some reason and descended into the subconscious world. They can be described as avatars that are always logged in to the dream and walk around on their own. They have more freedom of activity than corporeals, and are basically immune to death, although some seem to grow tired of their immortality. (Source: Number 27, Oneiroi Station, etc.)
- Noosphere - A term used to describe the sphere of human thought. It is sometimes metaphorically referred to as the collection of concepts accessible to the human brain and their interactions. It is used in several Oneiroi-related articles, presumably because of its context. (Source: Project Morpheus, etc.)
- Observation Sleepers - Agents that stay or hide in one or more specific subconscious areas to conduct continuous surveillance. They are the equivalent of security personnel stationed in front of containment cells, or a kind of autopiloted drone. (Source: #Aeliana, etc.)
- Official Languages - One of the basic Collective information. A list of languages used in a Collective. While most languages listed actually exist, there are a number of abstract phrases as well. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Oneiric Apparition - A type of Oneiroi that is capable of manipulating and altering the dream-world. In this canon, this term is considered to be used to describe Oneiroi that have the ability to freely reproduce and exercise the state of being able to destroy and create things at will in their dreams while lucid dreaming. It comes with classifications such as Class I/II/III, and the intensity of their properties seems to change with it. (Source: Project Morpheus, etc.)
- Oneiroi ArchiveTM - An oneiric archive website operated by Oneiroi West. Within the collective territory of Oneiroi West, all interactions are basically archived according to regulations, and can be viewed by anyone who follows the terms of use. (Source: A Well-Kept Child is a Well-Slept Child, etc.)
- Oneiroi Collective - A mysterious and massive Collective of Oneiroi. It is described as a collective consciousness located in the metaphysical space, and is known to manifest in physical reality as inanimate and organic anomalies that can interact with the dream-world. Despite the fact that the Foundation has registered it as a Group-of-Interest and has discovered related anomalies, OC remains enigmatic even to the other Oneiroi. Its purpose and origins are unclear, and some theories even suggest that it originates from a parallel universe. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Oneiroi Network - A network of Oneiroi; a direct term for the oneiric Internet composed of multiple subconscious areas connected to each other. (Source: amamiel's Proposal, etc.)
- Oneiroi West - The largest and most coherent Collective of Oneiroi in existence. It consists of dreaming humans, and pure Oneiroi who have abandoned their bodies completely; these members supposedly have autonomy and self-awareness. As the largest Collective of its kind, OW is often used as a stage for stories. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Oneiroi - A term that generally refers to a being that can be described as an individual's "avatar" in the subconscious/dreams. Their appearance is related to their personal identity. They drift freely from human to human, forming disorganized collectives that spread across the Earth. Be careful that some articles may use this term as an abbreviation for Oneiroi Collective. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Oneiromancer - A term usually used to describe the profession of divination through the interpretation of dreams. In this canon, it refers to one of the rare official positions in large-scale Collectives that conducts independent research, assessments, evaluations, and reviews within individuals' subconscious areas. Their assessments are used by their respective Collectives for urban development planning, as well as for determining whether an area is safe or not, and whether it is a comfortable place to hide out. (Source: Oneiromancer Re-Orientation, etc.)
- OW Subnet - A network that serves as a standard search scope within Oneiroi West. Considering the membership size of Oneiroi West (both corporeal and non-corporeal), it is considered to have the largest search scope of any Collective. As such, it is sometimes utilized by members of other Collectives as well. (Source: #Xiupania, etc.)
- OWL BOT - A major crawler used in Oneiroi West's network. As its name suggests, it has a characteristic logo of an owl; recently each of its multiple eyes became animated. (Source: #Xiupania, etc.)
P~T
- Pure Oneiroi - Another term for non-corporeals; a different way of describing the state of completely abandoning their physical bodies and descending into dreams. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Query - A search word that is entered and specified when searching something in dreams. Most of Oneiroi GoI-Format articles basically take the form of search results that correspond to the keyword specified as the query. As in the real-world Internet, the results appear to be not always precise or consistent. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- redȊst - A page/website on the oneiric Internet that displays links to websites related to your query. It seems to simply display related entries and archives, or to function as a kind of social bookmarking website. While it may be derived from "reddit", a real social news website that collects and presents links to various other websites, the details are unknown. The name "redȊst" may be an abbreviation of "redistribution" or "redistributable". (Source: #Xiupania, etc.)
- Rehoot - The equivalent of a "Retweet" in an oneiric Twitter-esque SNS. See "Hoot" for details. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Relays - Special spots that are assumed to exist on Oneiroi Networks to connect distant subconscious areas. It can be considered as a kind of portal, or the equivalent of a link on the Internet. (Source: #Aeliana, etc.)
- School Collectives - A general term for small Collectives composed entirely of same-age graduates of a common educational institution. The number of School Collectives is said to be increasing each year. On the other hand, some have suggested that this phenomenon may be caused by anomalies, since it is highly rare for same-age schoolmates from the same school to gain self-awareness and autonomy as Oneiroi at almost the same time. (Source: A Well-Kept Child is a Well-Slept Child)
- SCP BOT - A major crawler used in Foundation Collective network. As its name suggests, it has a simple logo of the Foundation. (Source: amamiel's Proposal, etc.)
- Search - A network designation of the search scope that will be selected when searching the oneiric Internet. The larger the size of Oneiroi network ≈ the more hosts/subconsciousness composing the network, the wider the search scope and results will be. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Shadow - Another term for Oneiroi. If interpreted as "shadow/aspect of a real-world body," it may refer to the corporeals among Oneiroi; this is not explicitly stated. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Small Collectives - A general term for small-scale Collectives composed of a few Oneiroi. It is almost like a hobbyist group on a private website, and members may belong to several other Collectives as well. Unlike large Collectives such as Oneiroi West, they may not have network functions such as search engines. (Source: A Well-Kept Child is a Well-Slept Child, etc.)
- States - A term referring to the connected subconscious areas (and their hosts) owned/controlled by specific Collectives. Occasionally, Collectives fight over territories in order to increase their number of states. (Source: #Xiupania, etc.)
- Subconscious - A term that generally refers to the area of thought that the ego cannot grasp/be aware of. Oneiroi travel between human subconscious as if they surf the Internet. Sometimes simply described as dreams. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Takeover - A term used to describe a situation in which an Oneiroi or dream entity has taken control of a physical body in reality by absorbing/preying on its Shadow. The Foundation has been studying and experimenting with this technique; while it has been mentioned that the higher-ups are already using this method to replace their bodies, the details are unknown. (Source: Overwrite Save)
- Time Economy - One of the basic Collective information. Presumably represents how time flows in the subconscious of a Collective's territory compared to reality; details unknown. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Transitory - A type of ethnic group that comprises a Collective. Presumably those who do not formally belong to a Collective, but stay in its territory only as travelers, visitors, or for the use of crawlers. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
U~Z
- World News - A news site in Oneiroi Networks. While it appears to originate from within Oneiroi West, details have not been provided. It covers a number of topics, including inter-collective conflicts, disasters, evacuation advisories, and information about high-profile individuals. (Source: Oneiroi Hub, etc.)
- Xiupania - A hostile Collective ruled by Grand Emperor Qi Shao. The major Oneiroi within this collective are inferior copies of Qi Shao. The corporeals require government authorization to awaken, and are often treated as indentured servants or second-class citizens. (Source: #Xiupania, etc.)
If you know of frequent or relevant terms that are not included in the list above, or if there are terms you would like to add to it, please make a comment in the discussion page, or in the "#Oneiroi" Channel of the official SCP-JP Discord. If you find any errors or problems in the English translation, please inform the translator on the discussion page as well.
When you write articles based on this canon, there are no restrictions on their content as long as they include the following setting/background.
- The concept of "SCP Foundation in dreams / Foundation Collective" exists, and it has some involvement and interference with the basis of the articles.
Likewise, it is perfectly fine to create articles that rely on your own headcanon regarding Foundation Collective and Oneiroi (e.g., FC's oneiric technology level, its origins, its members and territory, its relationship to other Collectives, its divisions and terminology, etc.). Of course, it may be slightly more advantageous to be consistent in setting and terminology with other related articles, or to keep in mind the central element of this canon hub, which is the "Foundation with advanced oneiric technology", but that is not an absolute rule.
When you create an article, be sure to tag it with "foundation-collective". Articles with this tag will be included in the article list here as soon as they are discovered; you can also add your own articles to the list yourself, or contact us through the discussion page or the official SCP-JP Discord Channel (see below) so that we can respond promptly.
You can add "foundation-collective" tag to any SCP article, Tales, GoI Format, or artwork. Similarly, there are no restrictions on collaborations, etc., and you can even create series hubs with unique shared settings (Examples: series hubs about reincarnation in a world where SCP-001-JP exists, about FC after the destruction of reality, about a universe where FC has been taken over by a conspiracy of Oneiroi Collective).
If you want to write an article for the first time, or have questions about this canon, Oneiroi, or consistency with other articles etc., then "#Oneiroi" channel on SCP-JP official Discord may be able to help you. As the name implies, the channel deals with all topics related to Oneiroi, and you are free to mention FC canon.
Also, I've heard that there are a lot of people who are reluctant to write Oneiroi articles; they decide to do a GoI Format, peek at the page source of a related article, and give up because there's a lot of complicated syntax. In that case, this wiki may assist you. Here you can find templates of typical syntax used in Oneiroi-related articles, and easily cite them in your own articles by just copying and pasting the ones you want to use (but please note that this is also an external Japanese wiki).
