I downvote the original, and still don't see a reason to change it here.
The researchers act more like bunch of clueless students instead of researchers. I think the author got it from Recording Stuff Or Whatever but that tale is suppose to be funny, this one isn't.
Oh, and somehow they're expect to "get used" to CoBG raiding. That doesn't make sense at all.
There's however one thing that's improve from the original. It doesn't has censored cursing, I don't mean something like "Holy [EXPLETIVE].", it's more like" "Holy sh*t.".
