This is a story derived from a folklore song of "Amis people" at eastern coast of Taiwan. Amis is one of the austronesian ethnicities who has lived in Taiwan before Chinese, Japanese and Dutch colonized the island.
The Folk song "馬蘭姑娘 (Ma Lan Gu Niang) describes a Amis girl of Japanese Occupation Era that threatened to commit suicide if her parents didn't allow her romance. The lyrics are translated as below:
Dear mother and father, please forgive me.
Now I'm in love with a young man (not chosen by you).
If you don't recognize our relationship, mother,
Then I'll go to kill myself by laying on the railroad, being broken into three pieces by the train.
Yeah, it's a emotional blackmailing a century ago (lol)
I hope the article is not too confusing despite that it is (inevitably) heavily culture-oriented. Austronesian languages seem to have been absent in SCP community, and I hope this would be a start, as Taiwan is theoretically the origin of this language family.

Hmmm, weak upvote. Seems a lot of what helps this article stand strong is untranslated, which is sad, but even so, the article feels like it doesn't utilize its resources to its fullest: You have an interesting dynamic going on, but all the good bits aren't on the article; we don't see these two develop in a satisfying way.
Past this, the article is solid, fun, culturally significant, and taught about the Amis, who I hadn't heard of before. Good stuff, although it could have been a lot better. +1
