My soul still bears the heavy weight of my love oath, so it seems.
I’ll destroy this frail body of mine to pay my love debt to him.
Then, my face won’t be seen, my voice won’t be heard by the living.
Please sprinkle a cup of water for me as I die from unjust suffering…

The victim in the Mù Cang Chải event was a young woman coming from a poor family. She wanted to make money so that she could raise her younger siblings, and therefore was tricked by human traffickers and sold to the People's Republic of China. She was forced to do sex labor and couldn't stand the humiliation, which led to her committing suicide by cutting into her own arms. But her tragedy didn't stop there — her body was sold to a shaman living near the Vietnam - PRC borders and was used as offerings in a ritual. This shaman was the one that Mr. Hà's father was looking for. Only Mr. Hà's father and the shaman knew of this, and Mr. Hà's father buried the young woman in his farm with his own hands.
With her body still being used as a tool for others' satisfaction even after her death, the young woman was seething with hate and haunted all the peach blossom trees in the farm. Her soul was tied to the trees, so the only thing she could do was haunted Mr. Hà's father to death. The peach blossom branches were later cut down and sold away, so her memories were also fragmented; each peach blossom branch only possessed a fraction of her memories. She used these memories to create dreams and nightmares, attracting the attention of people who could help her finish her revenge, which is the Foundation in this case.
The shaman and the human traffickers still haven't been held accountable. On the other hand, the Foundation has severed the link between the young woman and the farm, making her spirit free. If civilians were driven mad only by a tiny fraction of her memories, then one can only imagine how karma would bite those that should be held accountable.
