"Stage Start"[1] is an atonal ten-note musical jingle composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island , where it plays at the start of every level. It is played solely on percussion.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island marks the first appearance of "Stage Start". It is also included in the official soundtrack album Super Mario: Yossy Island Original Sound Version .
In the Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 , an arrangement of "Stage Start" arranged by Taiju Suzuki plays for the same purpose as in the original game.

In Mario Kart World , an arrangement of "Stage Start" is incorporated in the game's arrangement of "Athletic BGM" from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island at the end of the A section, which can play in Free Roam during the day, on the route from Dino Dino Jungle to Great ? Block Ruins in the Banana Cup, and on any VS Race route.
