Antarctica (Spanish: Antártida; Chilean Spanish: Antártica; Norwegian / German: Antarktis; French: Antarctique; Russian: Антарктида, Antarktida; Japanese: 南極大陸; Rōmaji: Nankyokutairiku, lit. "Extreme Southern Continent") is Earth's southernmost and least-populated continent. It first appears in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "7 Continents for 7 Koopas".

History[edit ]

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[edit ]

In "7 Continents for 7 Koopas", when King Koopa tries to conquer the real world, he puts Big Mouth under control of Antarctica. Big Mouth uses his magic wand to create an Abominable Snowkoopa to terrorize the penguins. Luigi later restores peace to the continent by snatching Big Mouth's wand, using it to destroy the Snowkoopa and turn the penguins gigantic, who proceed to chase after Big Mouth.

Mario is Missing![edit ]

In Mario is Missing! , Bowser and the Koopalings travel to Antarctica and build a fortress. Bowser plans to steal and sell various artifacts, so he can use the money to buy hair dryers from Hafta Havit Mail-Order to melt Antarctica, flooding the Earth. However, Luigi ultimately foils his plan by recovering and returning the stolen artifacts.

Wario's Warehouse[edit ]

In the E3 2003 edition of Wario's Warehouse, Wario mentions traveling to Los Angeles by fishing trawler "via Antarctica" in order to attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Mario Party DS[edit ]

In Mario Party DS , Antarctica is included on the globe in the minigame Globe Gunners.

Mario Kart Wii / Mario Kart 7[edit ]

While it does not appear in actual gameplay, Antarctica is visible alongside Earth's other continents on the online racing menus for Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 .
