All Coastal Jungle Unique Locations

The Coastal Jungle is a huge sprawling starting area in Windrose filled with a plethora of hidden treasures, secret notes, and unique loot. There are 32 locations to explore with 62 chests to loot. As each one rewards you with XP, visiting all of them will boost your levels significantly before you move onto the Foothills area. In this complete guide, we'll cover all of the islands you'll need to explore, every unique location, the locations of treasure chests, and notable loot you can find to 100% complete the Coastal Jungle.

The Coastal Jungle is filled with lush foliage and sandy beaches. You'll discover tropical fruit, roaming wild boars and dodos, and scurvy pirates. But there's also something supernatural happening in the jungle, with shipwrecks guarded by Thorn Fiddlers and bloated Drowned and Ancient Ruins protected by the undead.

In the table below, you'll see a breakdown of all the points of interest to explore in the Coastal Jungle. Further down the page, you'll find a breakdown for each of the nine islands, including notable loot and side quests to look out for.

Coastal Jungle Island 1 - Pirate Remains

The Blurry Sketch of the Island note will begin the Fifteen Men on a Dead Man's Chestside quest, which will lead you to some buried treasure.

Coastal Jungle Island 1 - Ancient Ruins (West)

The area is guarded by lots of Boars and Sow, so it's a great place for farming some Meat, Animal Fat, and Rough Hide.

The first chest can be discovered by using a Shovel to dig up debris on the eastern side of the ruins. This contains a plan for Decoration: Simple Bed with Headboard.

Go inside the ruins, and check the eastern section to find a dilapidated wall you can break down with your Pickaxe. Loot this Ancient Chest to discover Plans: Leaf Roofs and Triangular Walls.

The final Ancient Chest can be found in the western corner.

Coastal Jungle Island 1 - Ancient Ruins (East)

This ruin is protected by Dodos, and there are nests dotted around the ruins, so you can collect plenty of Dodo Eggs.

The first chest can be found against the wall on the western side of the ruins, tucked behind a bush.

The second chest can be found by heading to the southern side of the ruins. Break through the Thick Vine, and you'll see an entrance to a Cellar.

Head down here, and turn right into the room. It's guarded by two Drowned, so be careful. Clear them out and open the chest in the east.

Coastal Jungle Island 2 - Jungle Cave

Head inside the Jungle Cave, then follow the path on the right (west). You'll come to a Smugglers' Chest.

For the next Smuggler's Cache, turn back on yourself and take the path to the right, heading south. Another Smugglers' Cache can be found in this room. Inside this one, you'll receive Piastre and Officer's Notes.

The Officer's Note is crucial for finding the final chest. It mentions a rustling behind the wall. On the western side of the room, behind the wooden structure, you'll find a wall made of Waste Rock that can be destroyed.

Breaking this down will reveal a cave, with a lot of Drowned, Swollen Drowned, and Armored Drowned inside.

To finish up with this area, you'll need to loot the Old Skeleton that's in the water.

Coastal Jungle Island 2 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp

The second island is actually a collection of two smaller islands and a larger third one. This Blackbeard Pirate Camp can be found in the southern part of the small island in the east. You'll need to visit it as part of the Rescuing the Crew main quest.

The chest can be found in the northern part of the camp, by a tent and goods. You should be rewarded with ammo and armor, as well as other useful resources.

Coastal Jungle Island 2 - Destroyed Buccaneer Fort

The fort, camp, and warehouse on this island are all protected by Boars. You'll also find Charging Boars and Savage Boars, who can hit much harder than Boars and Sows.

First, head to the upper level of the fort and look for an Old Skeleton hidden behind the wall in the northeast. Loot it to find a Torn Hat and Last Letter. This will trigger the Glorious Hunters side quest.

Now, climb up the top in the northwest to find another Old Skeleton slumped over. You should get a Weapon from this one.

To finish up with this location, drop down and look to the east. You'll need to run and jump across the platform to reach a Buccaneer's Chest on a lookout structure.

Coastal Jungle Island 2 - Abandoned Buccaneer Camp

Head up to the second floor, and look for a chest in the north under a plank of wood. In this one, you'll get a Plan for Decoration: Food Preparation.

Now drop down and go inside the camp, turn right, and look in the northern corner to find the next chest. Inside, you should get a weapon.

For the last chest, go to the eastern side of the room and look behind the wall. Inside this one, you'll find aBroken Musket and Marcel Boucher's Diary.

Coastal Jungle Island 2 - Abandoned Buccaneer Warehouse

At this warehouse, you'll have a Savage Boar to deal with. But you'll want to clear the area, so you can head into the warehouse safely.

Turn left and break down the boxes in the north. Turn left, then look on the wall to find a button you can press. This will lift up a wall in the south to reveal a chest. This should reward you with Piastre and Silver Ingot.

To finish up with this location, climb up to the top of the structure to find a Buccanneer's chest in the northeast corner. Inside here, you'll get aDamaged Flask and the final Page from Marcel Boucher's Diary.

Coastal Jungle Island 3 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp (South)

You also need to visit this as part of the Rescuing the Crew main quest. This is another camp that sits on the beach, and the chest is in the southeast of the camp, by a tent. You should be rewarded with a Weapon inside.

Coastal Jungle Island 3 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp (North)

This camp is also part of the Rescuing the Crew main quest, and another that sits on the beach. The chest can be found by a tent in the north, opposite one of the cages. Inside, you should get some Armor.

Coastal Jungle Island 3 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp (West)

This camp is also part of the Rescuing the Crew main quest, but this time, it sits inside the jungle area. This one has the best loot, with Piastre (which you can spend with factions), a weapon, and Blackbeard Crew's First Map , which will lead you to some buried treasure.

Coastal Jungle Island 3 - Smuggler's Cache

To get into the Smuggler's Cache, you need to find the hidden entrance. Look for a load of trees and logs on the floor, in quite an obvious attempt to cover something up. Smash these, then go down the stairs and break through the door. There'll be a Drowned inside.

Once you've cleared the place, you'll notice it's very small. The chests are on the left and right as you enter. The one on the right contains a Weapon and ammo.

The one on the left contains a note called Letter to a Good Friend and some Guinea. Taking this letter will begin the side quest Underground Network.

Coastal Jungle Island 3 - Trial Circle Ruins

The entrance to the ruins can be found in the west.

As you climb down, you'll be able to see the first chest straight ahead. Run and jump across the platforms to reach it.

If you fall down, prepare to meet a couple of Drowned and in the room with the chest, there's Undead. Inside the chest, you can find some Tumbaga Ingot and jewellery.

The next chest is a bit trickier to spot. Leave the room and look at the platforms along the wall on the right. Run across these to find the gap in the southeast corner, where the chest is. Inside this one, you should get some items you can sell to smugglers.

Coastal Jungle Island 4 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp

There's a very bare Blackbeard Pirate Camp on the fourth island, with overturned boats. The chest can be found in the south, by a crate. You should get a piece of Armor and some resources, such as a Combat Repair Kit.

Coastal Jungle Island 4 - Ancient Ruins

Undead will be guarding this Ancient Ruin, and not just underground, so be careful as you approach. If you enter from the south, you can find a chest in the debris, and one straight ahead.

The one in the debris contains Plans for Decoration: Shell Decoration. The one just beyond it contains trinkets that can be sold.

Head west to find a chest that sits at the top of some small stairs, then finally, go northeast and break down the vines to find the entrance to the cellar.

Go into the room on the left when you're in the cellar and take out the undead. Then open the container in the southwest corner. You should find some good items to sell to Smugglers here.

Coastal Jungle Island 4 - Blackbeard Camp Near Shipwreck

The first chest I'd recommend going for is in the shipwreck that's on the very eastern tip of the island, past the camp. Go upstairs on the boat and head north.

You'll find two chests here. The one on the right contains Piastre and a Black Mark, and the one on the left contains Armor.

Head south and then west, to start going into the camp. Turn left and enter a tent in the south to find the next chest. This one contains some resources as well as Blackbeard Crew's Third Map.

Now make your way north into the camp, look out for the next chest in a tent to the left, just beyond a torch. This one contains Guinea and Plans: Woven Pillars and Beams.Plans: Woven Pillars and Beams'

A bit further north from the previous chest, you'll find the next one, again in a tent. Inside this one, you can pick up a weapon.

The final chest can be found by going inside the tent to the south of this one. It's tucked next to the table on the left. This one contains a Black Mark and Piastre.

Coastal Jungle Island 5 - Old Cabin

The Old Cabin is a rundown shack that's protected by Azure Dodos. Inside, you'll find a chest and a skeleton on a bed.

Open the chest for Diary Fragments note, which is Castaway 3, along with armor, and some items that can be sold to smugglers. This begins the Eyes Wide With Fear side quest if it's the first note you collect.

This side quest will take you to the remaining POIs on the island. Be sure to interact with the Protective Amulet outside the door.

Coastal Jungle Island 5 - Shipwreck Site

Head to the Shipwreck Site in the northwest of the island. This is also guarded by quite a few Dodos.

The first chest can be found by the tent. Loot this for another Diary Fragment note -- this time it's Castaway 1.

The second chest can be found in the wreckage, by some boxes.

Coastal Jungle Island 5 - Inhabited Ruins

The ruin is guarded by a Savage Boar and some Sow. One chest can be found in the northeast corner, at the foot of a bed. This also contains Diary Fragments of the Castaway collection.

Now you want to look to the east, opposite the bed to find some boxes. Break these to reveal the chest. This one will give you a Weapon and Ammo.

Coastal Jungle Island 6 - Ancient Grave

Interact with the Ancient Grave, and you'll be visited by a ghost. Equip your shovel and dig down into the grave to find an Old Skeleton, which can be looted to complete the location.

Coastal Jungle Island 6 - Trial Circle Ruins

This Trial Circle Ruins can be entered from the East. It then provides three semi-challenges for you to complete to reach the chests.

Chest 1 is the easiest to reach. When you've climbed down inside, turn left and jump over the spike traps to reach the Old Skeleton.

For Chest 2, you'll need to run straight ahead. The spike trap will start to close as soon as you step onto the stone, so be quick.

You'll be able to make it to the other side, even if it seems like you won't. You'll still want to be careful, however, as you'll start to encounter the Undead now.

Follow the path and break through the rock with your pickaxe.

You'll find the next chest in this room.

Follow the corridor around to the west, jumping carefully over the spikes, and then across the platforms.

You'll reach another room with undead and an Ancient Chest.

Coastal Jungle Island 6 - Ancient Ruins

The area is guarded by Dodos -- both Coastal and Azure. But that does mean that there are plenty of eggs to loot from their nests.

Head to the eastern side of the ruin to find a chest on a small wall.

Then, smash through a wall on the south side with your Pickaxe to find the next container. Inside here, you'll get some jewellery.

Coastal Jungle Island 6 - Undead-Infested Shipwrecks

This area has a LOT of shipwrecks and is swarming with Drowned and Thorn Fiddlers. To unlock the Old Chests in this location (of which there are five), you'll need to find Old Keys. These are kept on the Armored Drown, but you'll still have plenty of Swollen and normal Drowned to contend with.

It's also worth looting every single Old Barrel you find, because these contain Silver Ingots. One of the ships in the south has some Rickety Doors that you can smash through to find a few Old Barrels stuff with them.

Now for the chests. The first chest can be found on the western side of the camp, tucked behind a small piece of broken ship. Inside, you should find a Weapon.

The second chest can be found on the northern side of the area, at the top of one of the boats that's more intact. This one should contain armor.

Head east from this boat to find a larger shipwreck. This one has stairs, but it's the ground floor you'll want to explore. In the north, you can find a locked chest. Inside, you'll get Piastre and Guinea.

Now make your way to the very southeast point of the island. You'll find a locked chest near a very small chunk of boat, just like the first one. In here, you'll get Decoration: Military Wall Decor.

Finally, go south to the boat close to the water. It's fairly small but also quite intact. This chest can be found in the sand beside it. Inside this, you'll get Decoration: Old Chest, Decoration: Pirate Chest, and Decoration: Wrought Iron Chest.

Coastal Jungle Island 7 - Blackbeard Outpost in Ancient Ruins

You'll need to visit this location as part of the Revenge Best Served Cold main quest. Four of the chests need to be unlocked by obtaining Richards' Crew Keys. To get these, you'll need to defeat Muskeeters and Seargants. They should have a key icon above their head.

I'd recommend clearing out the entire area, so you can safely explore.

The first two chests can be found on the eastern side of the outpost. One is to the left of the stairs that take you to the south. This should contain Piastre and a Black Mark.

Head south over the stairs and turn left. You'll find another chest by the bench here. In this one, you should obtain Armor.

The next chest can be found on the western side of the outpost, just by the bridge. This should contain the Plans: Woven Windows and Doors.

You can find a chest near the stairs on the northern side, which should contain a Weapon, ammo, and Gunpowder.

Finally, you can find two on the bottom floor on opposite sides of each other. The one in the east contains some Guinea and Blackbeard Crew's Second Map.

The one in the west should hold a Black Mark and Piastre.

Coastal Jungle Island 8 - Fisherman's Hut

Head to the south side of the hut to find a Fisherman's Chest. Inside, you can pick up some Armor, but also a Decayed Diary page.

Interact with the Remains on the Helm while you're here to begin the side quest Sacrificial Lamb.

Coastal Jungle Island 8 - Smuggler's Cache

I'd suggest visiting the Smuggler's Cache on Coastal Jungle Island 3 first before you get to this one. Looting the chests in there will trigger the Underground Network side quest. Eventually, you'll be sent here as part of it.

Inside, you'll find a chest in the southwest containing a Weapon and some items you can sell to Smugglers.

Coastal Jungle Island 8 - Jungle Cave

Head inside the Jungle Cave, where you'll be met with a tough Savage Boar.

Once you've taken the boar down, you'll be able to loot the Old Skeletons at the back of the cave. You'll get a Weapon from one, and then resources from the other.

Coastal Jungle Island 9 - Ancient Ruins (North)

This Ancient Ruins is another that's guarded by a plethora of Boars, and has the same layout as one that you'll have encountered on the first island.

An Ancient Chest can be found along the wall in the south. This has trinkets that can be sold on to Smugglers inside.

The next one is buried under debris in the north.

Then east of that one, you'll need to break down a dilapidated wall to get the final chest. In this one, you'll get Decoration: Woven Armchairs.

Coastal Jungle Island 9 - Ancient Ruins (Northeast)

For this Ancient Ruins, be prepared to go up against the Undead again.

If you enter from the west, you'll be able to find a container tucked away in the east.

Head into the center, and you'll find a statue with debris at the base. Use a Pickaxe to uncover the next chest.

Now head south and break the vines to access the cellar. There are two chests to open down here.

The cellar splits into two paths: one going west, and one going east. You'll have both Drowned and Undead to deal with. The chest in the west will reward you with Decoration: Clay Lamps.

Coastal Jungle Island 9 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp

This is another little camp, with overturned boats. The chest is in the southeast, by another crate. Inside, you should be given some Armor.

Coastal Jungle Island 9 - Smuggler's Cache

As always, the Smuggler's Cache needs you to break the cover of leaves and twigs that are attempting to hide it.

In this one, you'll find a Swollen Drowned. The chest can be found in the northwest corner by the stairs.

Coastal Jungle Island 9 - Blackbeard Pirate Camp (Boss)

You should visit here as part of the conclusion to the Revenge Is Best Served Cold main quest. But you won't be able to find the chests until you've beaten the boss. After taking down the local threat, you can head west and into a corridor that's lined with chests.

There'll be another one on your right, which contains a weapon, and right of this one, you'll see an alcove with the third treasure chest. This one should have some Armor.

The final one can be found at the end of the corridor, in the west. Inside this one, you'll get Piastre, and Francois Arnuad's Letter.
