Requests for global rollback permissions
Global rollback for Eihel
- Global user: Eihel (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
Hello Community, Vandals and spams hunting is on my Wikimedia schedule and I am a member of SWMT. Global rollback would be useful to me for that. I understand the global rollback policy. Already having this right on a few other projects, I intend to continue patrolling with serenity. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 16:53, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Not ending before 7 December 2020 16:53 UTC
- Hello, thanks for your continued efforts in containing vandalism and etc, however, I had some concerns. I am not impressed with the lack of transparency per Steward_requests/Global_permissions/2019-05#Global_rollback_for_Eihel. I mean, it's best when you applied for a right and get denied, you should had mentioned in the nominating statement. I don't think this is deliberate but it's not ideal not to have mentioned especially given the large amount of comments on that. In addition, you still didn't have the right on Simple English Wikipedia which the concerns in the 1st application still stands. This just pure administrative as it's odd for someone denied local permission to have a global permission, but it's quite a long time since then and I think if you apply now on Simple, it might well be granted and I won't be suprised about that. I just want some clarifications, don't take the above as oppose or whatsoever, as recent reverts might be okay. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:25, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Neutral Neutral I didn't have time to check the reverts but I will take Uncitoyen word for it that they are good. However, it's around 2 days and they didn't respond to what I said above, being a GR is to revert in arcane languages projects and at times, our reverts will be contested and hence, a key aspect is communication, and timely one. This is crucial for local projects to have faith in global users working on their projects. As per 1st application, I don't oppose but also can't support. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:58, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- Other than Camouflaged Mirage's concerns which you should have ideally addressed, it looks fine from my side and you have a decent edit matrix. Hence Support Support. Leaderboard (talk) 21:25, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Global rollback for SCP-2000
- Global user: SCP-2000 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Not ending before 26 December 2020 12:04 UTC
Hello! I am SCP-2000 and a rollbacker in zhwiki, wikidata, and commonswiki now. I usually revert vandalism in cross-wiki (See also my global contribution). I would like to request global rollback permission so that help me revert vandalism rapidly. Thank you!--SCP -20 00 12:04, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
- Weak support On shwiki, hrwiki, huwiki and slwiki, I noticed your cross-wiki spam tagging, which your undo edits was reverted by other user on April 2020. Your undo edits on other wikis seems to current. Local users there didn't intervene for your edits. I also see that some of your vandal reports on enwiki have been completed. Even though you don't have a very active cross-wiki activity, you have a cross-wiki activity for nearly 60 wikis from time to time. --Uncitoyen talk 18:43, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

- Neutral Neutral to make things clearer, and my comments here for another candidate also applies. Global rollback for Jan Myšák

Hi, I'm Jan Myšák and I'm a cswiki sysop. I've been doing RC patrol there for over a year, I revert cross-wiki vandalism using SWViewer and I also patrol on enwiki using Twinkle. Hence global rollback would come in handy for me. Best, --Jan Myšák (talk) 19:04, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose I don't see any cross-wiki evidence? The edit matrix is bad, and your statement mentions work only in cswiki and enwiki (which has its own rollback procedure if you are looking for that). (削除) Neutral Neutral (削除ここまで)While the fact that they are a sysop on cswp prove they are reliable, but to be honest we are seeing very little of crosswiki activity (mainly due to them starting for 1 month only per 1997kB). I am seeing this and the above application as premature, there is no doubt they can be trusted (just as SCP-2000), but then there isn't much use cases (like heavy use of undos until the point a rollback will be preferred - to be honest undos aren't that painful).(削除) GR isn't a very big deal either so that partly negates. I really don't see a real reason to oppose, but doesn't see a real reason to support either. Hence, I am neutral here. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:05, 26 December 2020 (UTC) (削除ここまで)Per the below evidence given by MrJaroslavik (thank you for pointing out the diffs), there seems some problem with reverts which shows a lack of experience which might end up with some problems. I am sorry but to Oppose Oppose this. A few more months of xwiki work will be more desired. - Analysis: 4 is really content changes that seems valid, hence shouldn't be rollbacked (or without a summary undo), 5 the tagging of spam is harsh, undone by a local sysop, well the subject I googled seems valid (some news coverage), tone isn't promotional, but we cannot judge local consensus. Often I also tagged something for spam and some local sysops disagrees, but this one really doesn't seems spammy. 6 is pure vandalism (I agree with Iluvatar - Martin action is just to save the page which only is possible if you know the language) 7 seems valid changing of images, the new one seems better, but anyway this doesn't allow for undos without summary or rollback 8 clearly good faith edit, shouldn't be rollbacked as it is very BITEy (see the birth date and the date added - it's the same) 9 No comments on this 10 Clearly we shouldn't be changing sources, but if we would, the better way is to cite it, but it's nothing to do with SMWT, and in SMWT we do not take care of content, just patent vandalism we handle, so such changing of content is a little worrying.Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:52, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

English Wikipedia blocks open proxies and VPNs locally, so GIPBE has no sense in English Wikipedia context. Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 16:14, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

- Base, yes, I attempted to start to do some translations from Mandarin to English, and I found my proxy IP is forbidden to edit. But Wikipedia is wholly blocked in China and I have to use a proxy to visit. So I wish to have IP block exemption. Thanks! --Zhouii (talk) 12:58, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for ColaziviBot
- Global user: ColaziviBot (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
Hello, I've been automatically updating a couple of self-created plots and maps on commons from a VM. The VM this bot runs on has an IP-address in the 34.64.0.0/10 block, which seems to be globally blocked. Please grant me an IP block exemption.
Block-info: 'You have been blocked from editing.', 'blockinfo': {'blockid': None, 'blockedby': 'Jon Kolbert', 'blockedbyid': 6259789, 'blockreason': '[[m:NOP|Open Proxy]]: Colocation webhost - Request [[m:Steward_requests/Global_permissions#Requests_for_global_IP_block_exemption|an exemption]] if you are affected', 'blockedtimestamp': '2020-02-28T04:44:26Z', 'blockexpiry': '2021-02-28T04:44:26Z'}
Thanks, --ColaziviBot (talk) 13:52, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- @ColaziviBot Could your operator please come here and confirm this request from their own account? Also, it seems your request is commons-based. If that is the case, I would recommend to request a local exemption from Commons administrators (you can include such a request in your request for bot approval). Best, Martin Urbanec (talk) 13:58, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, sure, I'd like to confirm this.
- I've just come here because the error message I got, told me so. If the commons-admins can also exempt me from a global IP-block, this would be fine by me as well. --Colazivi (talk) 14:11, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

I am focused on my work at enwiki and Wikidata. I would like global renamer permissions as I have read and understand both Wikipedia's specific and Wikimedia's global policies (because Wikidata has no specific policies) on global renames and would like to help process global rename requests and help with the backlogs of them. Hello, I am requesting this tool to help processing rename requests on username changing venues. I am afraid I am not bureaucrat or sysop anywhere, but I have been clerking on en:WP:CHUS, en:WP:CHUU and m:SRUC. I have read and understood the Global rename policy. I hope I will use this tool in good way.--Junior Jumper (talk) 16:05, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

- I was not going to pile-on but then I seen your contributions on meta, then I found this, not again?. Please please read through the requirements properly and make sure you meet the requirements before asking. My standard for GR is, as per all my supports/opposes is that this isn't a right that is hard to obtain. A large wiki sysop (I said many times, why not bundle into their toolkit) or someone with decent exposure in the renaming venues and meta and is sort of trusted with intermediate permissions (like patroller, etc) on several wikis is okay. This right isn't a hard to obtain right, and it's really a small deal, but I really cannot support you this time round. I hope you won't ask for any rights you aren't sure, or aren't needed, or aren't qualified for in the next time. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:50, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

- Strong support Strong support What exactly have edit matrix had to do with Global Renamer, they just have to know their local username policy properly that's it, being a sysop proven the point that they are trusted. With the current norms that rename requests should be dealt with by locals, and there is backlog, the reason is obviously credible and valid. There is 0 need for crosswiki experience for GR unless they state they wanted to work for global queues, which they didn't. We should be glad for someone willing to take up the role and is somewhat active on their local project. Thanks for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 11:28, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

In the last 1-2 months, only 2 of them seem to be active. Others may be busy in real life. That's why our global renamers who speak no German have been closing for dewiki requests recently. Perhaps there are points where we can make wrong when job with German operations because we do not know this language/some rules of dewiki. Hello. I am regularly patrolling pages on the English Wikipedia, and can help with Global Renames. I have know-how, having spent time (about 4 months) on Miraheze. While people might consider this a WP:NOTNOW case, I have knowledge, and global rename requests aren't done that fast. The process generally takes about 1 month, and it's slow. I can help speed this process up. I have read and understood all rename policies (local and global), and with global renamer I would help reduce the rename backlog by 100x. Feel free to leave questions, and I will respond as soon as possible, most likely in the 12-5pm, PST range. I know what spam requests look like, and have combated vandalism for a while now. I am trustworthy, and will not abuse these tools in any way. I have knowledge of Native English, as well as some Spanish. BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 22:40, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose Sorry but you only have 107 edits (and ~300 on a previous account) and not nearly enough experience on Wikimedia. --Rs chen 7754 23:10, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose, sorry. You have 10 edits to enwiki mainspace with this account, and under 100 with your previous one, which you retired under a bit of a cloud a few months ago. I simply don't think you have the experience or community trust to hold advanced (global) permissions just yet; I'd focus on gaining those first. Happy editing and best wishes, Blablubbs (talk) 23:14, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

- @Hsilamot Every user can betatest 2FA, however, you need to be aware of the risks (losing scratch codes will lock you out of your account, forever). If you're fine with that, I'm happy to add you to the group. Best, Martin Urbanec (talk) 17:31, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Martin Urbanec oh oh, i see, so the question is if i'm aware of the risk of loosing my recovery keys (scratch codes), yes i'm fully aware, i have multiple backups to not lose this information. -- Hsilamot (Insultos | Contribuciones) 17:53, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Hsilamot: Done then. Enjoy! --Martin Urbanec (talk) 18:04, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
