Egypt Wikimedians User Group/Training/Photographers training
This program aims to train newcomers to be "Knowledge photographers" to contribute high-quality, freely licensed images to Wikimedia Commons, with a primary based on knowledge and culture. The training will introduce participants to the fundamentals of photography, emphasizing techniques for creating clear, informative, and well-documented images that support educational and knowledge-sharing purposes.
In addition to photography skills, participants will learn the principles of visual documentation, including how to identify subjects of encyclopedic value and produce images that effectively document people, places, culture, heritage, nature, and events. The program will also provide practical guidance on uploading media to Wikimedia Commons, organizing files with appropriate metadata and categories, and understanding the role of free licenses in enabling open knowledge.
By the end of the program, participants will be equipped to become active contributors to Wikimedia Commons, expanding the availability of freely accessible, high-quality visual content that can be used across Wikimedia projects and beyond.
