Egypt Wikimedians User Group/Tech Hub
Egywiki Tech Hub A local tech club affiliated with and managed by Egypt Wikimedians User Group, founded in 30 January 2024, which is considered the first tech club in the MENA region, bringing together Wikimedia users From Egypt who specialize in developers, programmers, and technical specialists.
The hub aims to create a community of developers, bringing them together to collaborate on various technical activities and projects, and providing them with support and resources for any activity, including camps and hackathons. The hub also aims to contribute to the Foundation's technical activities, supporting WikiTech and Phabricator projects, supporting MediaWiki software, and supporting free and open software.
The hub also provides technical support to the User group in general, assistance with editorial activity by lists and queries, making statistics, providing editing tools for volunteers, some assistance with regard to the website, and providing lectures and training for new members (for those who wish to join the hub).
Membership
[edit ]The Hub membership is limited to members of the Egypt Wikimedians User Group only. The member must meet the group's membership requirements and be registered with the group in order to be able to join the club. The hub is subject to the management of the group, except for the selection of the team leader, which is done by annual vote of the hub members.

Resources and Support
[edit ]Egypt Wikimedians User Group provides full support and sponsorship to the club, covering any meeting and hackathon expenses, providing tools, servers and paid subscriptions, providing some equipment and devices to volunteers, and renting venues for any training sessions.

[edit ]- WikiMonitor : open-source tool designed to help editors and administrators monitor the Wikimedia "RecentChanges" stream in real-time. The tool aims to facilitate vandalism detection and track complex editing patterns through a flexible and powerful filtering system. (by Gerges)
- ParseWiki: A PHP library for parsing wikitext markup. (by Gerges)
- Musa3id: The tool is translated and developed by Gerges and وهراني as a derivative work and software fork of the Adiutor tool under the GNU license.
Training

A comprehensive training program designed for Arabic Wikipedia editors, aiming to provide them with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to create and operate bots using the Python programming language and the Pywikibot library.
Participations

- Some members from the user group (online and in person) participated in the Wikimania 2025 Hackathon in Nairobi, which they participated in several activities like (Admins/Functionaries and Moderator Tooling, AI and Wikimedia Design)
