CAPTCHA exemption for 기나ᅡᄂ
- Global user: 기나ᅡᄂ (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
Hello! I am requesting captcha exemption for my account. Whenever I reverted vandalism globally, it was always a pain in the ass to get caught in CAPCHA. This was especially difficult to revert to when using TwinkleGlobal. I've made over 43000 edits globally. I've been doing a lot of global vandalism reversals lately, including using SWViewer. With this permission, I would be able to reverse the vandalism more easily. Thank you. --ginaan (T/C) 14:59, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

I asked for permission because I was inconvenient to edit Captcha since I edit a lot on mobile, but I didn't know that this permission also required quite a lot of global experience. I will ask again next time. thank you. --ginaan (T/C) 09:20, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
CAPTCHA Exemption for Deauthorized
- Global user: Deauthorized (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I am requesting a captcha exemption to aid in my (admittingly pretty recent) use of TwinkleGlobal, as I tend to get stopped by captchas on most wikis. I did try using global SUL to mitigate this, but some wikis do require some edits alongside being registered before being autoconfirmed, which tends to be the ones that I encounter most of the time. I'm not a spam-bot either, if that needs to be said. Thanks. --Deauthorized (talk) 04:18, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- While issues with CAPATCHA are recent and there is low xwiki activity, this user is clearly trusted and not a spambot. Support Support. Illusion Flame (talk) 13:44, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support Support Per above, I don't see any reason not to grant the exception as the reasoning sounds clear to me. --V0lkanic (talk) 21:31, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support Support Clearly acceptable per CAPTCHA exemptions "accepted rationales." --Ferien (talk) 21:36, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Deauthorized: I've added this with a 1 year expiration, by then you should have become autoconfirmed provided your use case is being used. — xaosflux Talk 11:46, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

- Not ending before 20 October 2023, 19:09 (UTC)
I'm an admin and abuse filter editor on plwiki. My main activity on wiki is the maintenance of technical pages, incl. abuse filters. Since the global filters are now applied to large wikis, it would be helpful for me to see what kinds of vandalisms are already covered by them and to suggest improvements (and/or flag potential false positives). I've read Abuse filter helpers. Thanks in advance, Msz2001 (talk) 19:09, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for Mike Peel

I am now using a VPN on my devices while traveling for security, and I frequently run into blocks for open proxies as a result. I think that being IP block exempt globally would avoid this issue across all the wikis I regularly edit. Thanks, --Mike Peel (talk) 19:38, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for SSYoung

I live in Mainland China, which means I cannot edit Wikipedia without a VPN due to the internet censorship here. I have been granted a Global IPBE in 2018, which was suspended due to inactivity. I would like to apply for the exempt again and return to Wikipedia. Thanks. --SSYoung (talk) 05:24, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- @SSYoung: Hello, you still have Global IPBE. If you want to edit on English Wikipedia or other wikis, you have to follow the local instruction (e.g. en:WP:IPECPROXY} to request local IPBE. Thanks. SCP -20 00 07:36, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! SSYoung (talk) 09:37, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- @SSYoung per above, (you already hold GIPBE) can you withdraw this request? For that, add {{Withdrawn}} please. TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 11:34, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! SSYoung (talk) 09:37, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- Already done, GIPBE only helps against global IP blocks - and you are already exempt from those. It does nothing for project local blocks, if you are hitting any of those you will need to contact the project that placed the block. — xaosflux Talk 13:06, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for TenWhile6
- Global user: TenWhile6 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
[Per UTRS #79681] Hello dear stewards, I am affected by a global block (see UTRS for details). User:DerHexer temporarily gave me GIPBE for the duration of this request, but directed me here to receive the flag permanently, since I am often affected by such blocks and they prevent me from doing my crosswiki work. --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 11:04, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- @TenWhile6: Do you think the issue will be solved, for example, in 1-2 years or will be permanent? Thanks! --Superpes15 (talk) 00:50, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Superpes15 I think this issue will be permanent, I am often running in different global blocks (also 2021, but that time local dewiki IPBE solved the Problem - I was only active in this Wiki) in the context of what I explained in the UTRS Ticket. In dewiki they tried to give it temporary (for the same reason), but after the flag was automatically removed, the problems began again, so I received it permanently. I will stay globally active in the next years and GIPBE would really help me in fighting Vandalism and other not-dewiki tasks. TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 06:22, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
- Done @TenWhile6: You likely need also local IPBE! Please let me know if this is the case! I will keep on hold the request a little bit waiting for the reply :) --Superpes15 (talk) 21:33, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Superpes15 You don’t need to wait, I am online :)
- I think local IPBE (on meta; I think that was what you meant?) would be helpful, because many of the global blocked IPs are also blocked here locally, so if it’s possible, I wouldn’t say no to less problems with editing (or reporting the vandals) on meta. - Done Thanks for the confirmation --Superpes15 (talk) 21:42, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

- @Sudo Work quick question on this workflow for you. As a brand new global user, what led you to this rather obscure page to request to be a tester? — xaosflux Talk 11:42, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'd rather like to use 2FA, wherever possible, since I'm well aware of the security benefits it provides. I followed the instructions on enabling 2FA on Wikipedia/Wikimedia. (Honestly, I don't understand why this feature is still considered testing after five years, with 2FA becoming globally more and more common. No offense intended.) Sudo Work (talk) 12:03, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Sudo Work it's in testing because we have significant issues with our internal support model that have to be solved still. What I meant was how did you end up on this page, did you just search for how to enable it and got a search result? — xaosflux Talk 12:28, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

- @Sudo Work it's in testing because we have significant issues with our internal support model that have to be solved still. What I meant was how did you end up on this page, did you just search for how to enable it and got a search result? — xaosflux Talk 12:28, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
No offense intended.) I would like to have 2FA on Wikipedia. I am very familiar with the workings of 2FA (both as a user and also having myself implemented it as a developer). I try to use 2FA on as many services as I can, and AFAIC, and I'm sure my security friends will agree with me, this should be enabled for all Wikipedia users by default. I agree to secure my backup codes, yada yada yada.
As requested, I have read both the WP 2FA help page and the meta 2FA help page (which are different for some reason).

Global rollback for Tanbiruzzaman

- Not ending before 8 October 2023 19:42 UTC
Hi everyone. I'm requesting for the GR permission, so that I can easily rollback spam & vandalism on SW. Now I use SWviewer to patrol on SW, and Twinkle Global. But you'll know that the feature of Rollback rights are much easier then other tools. This permission will also allow me to revert vandalism freely without being caught by the abuse filter, which I encounter most of the time, so this will be an advantage for me. Thanks in advance for any kind of comments you have.–TANBIRUZZAMAN (💬) 19:42, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support Support I think anti-vandalism work is enough. When I see your work at SWViewer, however, I sometimes discover too many reverts against ongoing vandalism. (e.g. pa:ਖ਼ਾਸ:ਯੋਗਦਾਨ/Tanbiruzzaman) I also used to do like this several months ago, but I realized that it's usually not so useful at active vandalism. Despite this, I want to support this request, considering experience and active works. --LR0725 [ Talk Contribs ] 00:59, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi everyone. I'm requesting for the GR permission, so that I can easily rollback vandalism and harassment. I am mainly active on Chinese Wikipedia, and I often pay attention to the global contributions of non-Chinese users. I've been noticing more cross-wiki vandalism lately so I need this permission to be more effective. ——Rinna (Talk) 12:22, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose Thank you for volunteering, but its not enove xwiki experience for me: crossactivity of the last 30 days is ok, but if you Look at CentralAuth it shows only a few Wikis with 0-10 Edits, thats because you started fighting crosswiki vandalism in September, normally GRs are appointed with at least three months crosswiki experience. --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 13:12, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

- @Hi, thanks for the question. I will try to answer, at least from my perspective - it was a silly mistake that resulted from a lack of thought. I wanted to add a photo that received a commendation grade on a local community contest (And was taken by a fairly well-known Hebrew Wikipedian, along with many other pictures that were not related to the same subject), and I didn't think it might have the dimension of a slight apprehension for commercial advertising. To be clear - I have no interest in the subject of the photo and I don't even know what event is documented in it (only where). This photo seemed to me a nice and very high quality one, enough to put it into many article & langs. As soon as I saw that those edits were restored, I stopped, and when I realized the reason, I thanked one of the restorers (I myself hold fairly strict positions regarding publishing as well as conflict of interest/paid editing.). Hello everyone, I am here to request global rename permission to assist with rename requests. I would like to help in English and Indic wikis. I am a member of the Volunteer Response Team and locally, I am a New Page Reviewer, Rollbacker, and Pending Changes Reviewer on the English Wikipedia. I'm well-informed about the global and local username rename policies, and I assure I'll use this tool responsibly. Thank you! - DreamRimmer discuss 02:06, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

- @MdsShakil, I served as an admin on Avadhi Wikipedia but later resigned from the adminship due to time constraints. Personally, I don't believe that being an admin is a prerequisite for having rename rights; having experience in rename policy should be the key factor. Nonetheless, your comments are welcome. Global renaming is one of the most sensitive accesses; we need to make sure it is used properly and carefully. In response to others' comments, rename related task involves not only clerking but also reporting inappropriate usernames to administrators. —MdsShakil (talk) 16:22, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

In response to others' comments, rename related task involves not only clerking but also reporting inappropriate usernames to administrators. —MdsShakil (talk) 16:22, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
DreamRimmer discuss 14:14, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support Support. There is no requirement to get any sort of advanced rights on these projects, although experience is required (which that person appears to have). There isn't much point of "clerking" either. This is not a role that explicitly requires crosswiki experience either (i.e, this is not an application for global rollbacker for instance). I don't see anything wrong with the OP's request, and this one gets a support. Leaderboard (talk) 12:57, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

I do my work carefully to ensure no mistakes are made, and all of this takes a significant amount of time, resulting in less visible progress on the ground. However, I've thought it over and decided to withdraw my request at this time. I believe it's important to learn from the feedback provided by those who opposed or remained neutral, and I plan to reapply in a few months with these lessons in mind. I want to be clear that I can't promise obtaining administrator or any advanced permissions on any wiki, especially since I am primarily active on the English Wikipedia, where RfAs can be quite challenging. Nonetheless, I hope to have your support in my next request. Thanks! DreamRimmer discuss 14:32, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

- Hi @Krd, many thanks for the questions.
- 1) since last month I am watching the dewiki rename page and also looked at the archives to get Experience on how to deal with those Requests. The Question under the request was not made by a renamer, it is „only" a dewiki sysop. The Problem is, That the Account is Not responding, so yesterday I Made a Suggestion on how to Deal With this specific Request. No user including our GRNs objected so I Said That it would be Good to Wait a week and then renaming the user. That shouldnt Look like a decision, I just took the initiative. And, if I will be elected, I will maybe make a no/yes decision on That, but without GRN i am only acting there As a normal, dewiki contributor. For an example, I also helped another User this Week [2]
- 2) Per Intro of WP:BÄ, no, because the homewiki is enwiki and he isnt contributing on dewiki... but if the contributor is speaking German and having More edits in dewp than on enwiki, it was like a greyzone and was Done by one of our GRNs this month. example From september I hold contact to all three GRNs and will ask them for help if I am unsure / in such unclear / greyzone Requests. TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 10:27, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- to 1) But I unterstand that it was not well worded and could be misunterstood as a decision, so I clarified that its not a decision. [3] A GRN already answered and decided to skip the week waiting time I suggested (not needed). Thanks for the Feedback, feel free to ask of you still have questions or concerns. Hi folks, I'd like to nominate myself as a global renamer. I made my first request in 2017 and served as a member of the global renamer until 2022 and helped 38 users change their names. My right was revoked as I was unexpectedly busy with personal and mental reasons during the pandemic. There is regular traffic on our local request page, and I would like to help aswiki, bpywiki and satwiki as well. I'm aware of all relevant GRP policies as well as their scope. Since 2010, I have been an active Wikimedian on several projects (sometimes as SWMT member), and currently have sysop rights on Bengali Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons; additionally serving as a VRT agent. Thanks. ~Moheen (keep talking) 21:22, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

(削除) {{s}} LGTM, welcome back --DannyS712 (talk) 00:45, 21 October 2023 (UTC) (削除ここまで)- In light of the user's new indef block on enwiki, I have been forced to reconsider. On the one hand, global renaming is entirely separate from copyright rules and there is no indication that I have seen that the renaming rights were misused previously. But, it does speak to the user's ability to follow policies. Unlike most cases where someone is requesting advanced rights, here the user has a clear track record with those exact rights that can be used to evaluate the request. The closest parallel that comes to mind is w:Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Floquenbeam 2/Bureaucrat chat - given a history of using the rights properly, if that can be used to outweigh objections over recent actions. To me, I believe that despite the indef block (which the requesting user here has not yet responded to on enwiki) it should not prevent Moheen from carrying out global renames, but I'm reducing my support to a Weak support in light of the block. --DannyS712 (talk) 19:17, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

A user, who got blocked on enwiki three times in the last ten years should get enough time and chance to rethink of their approach (Though how a user who got blocked indef for violating a basic rule of wp like CV on enwiki is still the sysop on another language wp and even on commons where CV can be fatal, can be of another discussion in the relevant wikis or even on meta if needed). Aside from the enwiki indefinite block, their abuse of advanced rights in several wikis, nitpicking, newcomer biting (which may be harmful if this user is granted global rename rights), abusive offwiki behavior left me only one option and that is a strong oppose. I hope that they take a few more years to regain the broken trust and keep satisfactory track record of good editing and then they can apply for advanced rights later. -- BIDROHI Hello.. 13:51, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
