La Peace, sometimes misspelled La Piece, refers to a series of memes based on a viral video of Twitch streamer Kai Cenat pronouncing the rock and in-game material lapis lazuli in a way that sounds like "la peace" during a Minecraft Hardcore livestream with fellow streamer and YouTuber IShowSpeed.

The clip was first used in a meme edit in mid-August 2026. As a meme, the clip is often edited to represent Kai Cenat as a peaceful old monk or philosopher.

Origin

On August 16th, 2026, TikToker^[1] @boughta posted an edit of a clip from Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed's multi-day Minecraft Hardcore stream that gained over 4.2 million views in five days.

In the clip, Speed believes to have found diamonds and excitedly digs them up. However, the resource is actually lapis lazuli. Cenat says, "That's lapis," pronouncing the word like "la peace." Speed says, "Is that like some Greek shit?" The edit adds an image of a peaceful old man with a red arrow pointing to Cenat.

The La Peace clip from the Minecraft livestream inspired further edits on TikTok and Instagram Reels in mid-August 2026.

On August 19th, 2026, TikToker^[2] @venqus._ posted a meme that attaches the audio and the image of the old man to a crossword puzzle featuring the word "lapiz," garnering over 1.9 million views in two days.

Later that day, TikToker^[3] @hirfyy posted an edit based on the clip that gained over 3.8 million views in two days.

On August 20th, 2026, Instagram^[4] user chillpostt_ posted an edit that gained over 100,000 likes in a day.
