About

Gigafly or Gigaflies is an absurd derivative of the GigaChad meme in which GigaChad is shown riding on a giant fly. The meme first appeared online as early as October 2024. Many versions of the meme are generated using artificial intelligence tools, including AI video.

Gigafly memes became increasingly popularized in the first half of 2026 on sites like X / Twitter and TikTok, most of which show GigaChad riding on the housefly in different contexts. The memes are often posted as a form of absurd trolling, alongside claims that people believe they are used as dog whistles by child predators and Nazis, with some of the memes including Nazi imagery. The meme's ironic use makes it intentionally difficult to determine the intentions of the poster.

Origin

The origins of Gigafly are unclear. According to the SoyjakWiki[1] page for "Gigafly," the meme started spreading in 2024 on soyjak.party, however, a link to an originating post is not given, and the page uses ironic language throughout, suggesting it is an unreliable source and an extension of the trollish aspects of the meme.

The earliest fly-related Gigachad post linked on the wiki is a May 25th, 2020, post on the /int/ (international) 4chan [2] board of a photoshop combining GigaChad with a fly.

The earliest known user to post a meme of GigaChad riding on a fly is Redditor KaiserKota on October 8th, 2024, to the /r/FundamentalPaperEdu[3] subreddit, writing alongside the post, "Xister will NOT survive 😭," gaining no interactions in two years. The comment was made in response to a post related to Fundamental Paper Education reading, "You would prefer to fight Miller or Xister?"

Spread

Starting on May 2nd, 2025, many variants of the Gigafly meme began getting uploaded to the Soybooru[4] archival website. Over 240 examples of the meme were archived on the site by May 2026. The earliest known AI-generated GIF of the original meme was posted to Soybooru that day.[5]

The meme started to become increasingly popularized on sites including X / Twitter and TikTok between March and May 2026.

On April 10th, 2026, X[6] user @Soyjakpilled posted a compilation video of Gigafly memes in mocking response to a Soyjak-related post reading, "Kris PFP but pinned post is anti-trans minecraft mod," which is judging another poster for being purportedly anti-trans while having a profile picture of Kris from Deltarune, garnering over 3,800 likes in a month.

On April 28th, X[7] user @YngviCom posted, "why on earth do all the gigachad gifs have insects in them now," garnering over 24,000 likes in two weeks. The post resulted in a flood of Gigafly memes in the comment section.

On May 10th, 2026, X[8] user @skibidibanban posted a GigaChad compilation that includes a Gigafly meme, writing, "Communists will just repeat what you said with a video of gigachad riding a child mosquito. I wonder how Marx would feel about that," gaining over 1,600 likes in two days.
