Gucci Morty is an edited image of the character Morty Smith from the cartoon series Rick and Morty with short dark hair, skinny jeans and a Gucci T-shirt. Gucci Morty was popularized as the subject of memes, including video edits that set images of the character to music, in late August 2026 on sites including Instagram, X / Twitter and TikTok.
The memes ironically hype Gucci Morty up for having immense aura. Other memes include fan art, AI edits and memes that imagine Gucci variants of other Rick and Morty characters.
Origin
On August 16th, 2026, Instagram[1] user blephin_ posted an edit of Morty Smith from Rick and Morty wearing a Gucci shirt, skinny jeans and a short, dark haircut, garnering over 100,000 likes in eight days. This is the earliest known user to post the Gucci Morty meme.
Spread
Memes using and inspired by the image of Gucci Morty became increasingly popularized online throughout mid-to-late August 2026 on sites like X / Twitter, TikTok and Reddit.
On August 17th, 2026, X[2] user @OnGodNews_ posted a parody RapTV-style post, sharing an image of Morty Smith in a Gucci shirt, skinny jeans and a short, dark haircut, captioned, "Morty is trying something new," garnering over 15,000 likes and 2,300 reposts in a week.
On August 19th, 2026, TikToker[3] @keepitmovingbro_ posted a video that sets Gucci Morty over a backdrop of fish swimming in a tank lined with colored pebbles, garnering over 506,000 views in five days.

On August 20th, TikToker[4] @coolohiogaming posted an edit where Gucci Morty is gradually revealed through swipes of a mouse, garnering over 630,000 views in four days.
On August 23rd, 2026, X[5] user @FriskWolfie_ made a post falsely claiming that Gucci Morty is coming to Fortnite, garnering over 23,000 likes in a day.
That day, Instagram[6] user jack_sonsm48 posted a meme where a man dressed like Gucci Morty is shown standing next to Gucci Morty, garnering over 64,400 likes in a day.
