acquia slate

I have just "successfully" installed Acquia Slate, 3.x (3.0 Beta 1). I am trying to get the background image to show on the front page (like on http://acquiaslate.fusiondrupalthemes.com/), but the instructions/documentation seem to have been written for a different version of the theme.

Specifically: there is no "Frontpage preface sidebar" or "Front preface sidebar" region in my blocks, to add something to (I only want this on my frontpage). Also, the "Show Mission Statement" under global theme settings does not seem to do the trick.

I updated to acquia_slate-6.x-3.0-beta1.tar.gz so I could get integrated drop down menu support which by the way is excellent.

I do not want the default display behavior for taxonomy terms, I liked the way it was done in slate 2.x and the options available, so I started making the changes myself. Specifically I liked no vocab terms on the frontpage and I want the terms listed by vocab with the vocab name on each node instead of all the terms clumped together below the node content.

Hello i would like to change the Color / background on the Theme...

I found out that i can use the local.css for all my wishes.... but how can i change colors and how can i use an background image instead of only one color background???
Can someone show me some examples???

We recently migrated our World of Warcraft guild website from GuildPortal to our own host. As the designated webdeveloper, I took a well-researched plunge into the world of Drupal. Our site went live about a month ago, and we've continuously been modifying and updating the site since then. You can take a look at the site at TWC Gaming. I'm new to Drupal and Acquia slate. I am creating multiple sites for a client. I've elected to copy and move the site from domain to domain using "Back Up and Migrate". It seems to work beautifully, except the home page for the new site reflects the banner info of the old site (yet new image shows) and if I change the title and text on the new site, well it changes the title and text on the old site. I think there is probably a quick fix to this. I appreciate any assistance.

I am trying to customize acquia slate. What is the best way to achieve a desired design? I really know nothing about designing (except for few fundamental concepts).

Can this be done with Panel & Mini Panels alone? If not how difficult it is to customize the template? Do I really need to go down the base code of the template and do the dirty stuff?

I have a problem with the layout of the front page and certain of the system pages. A big unwelcome white square appears in the middle of the page, just after the header and before the rest of the content. This big unwelcome white square appears on most but not all pages, and it seems inexplicable. Attached are some screen shots -- two of them display the problem, and the third shows the page as it should appear with no big unwelcome white square. I have spent many hours looking for the cause of this problem, and I am now at the end of my rope. Any help would be appreciated!
