She also worked as the Community Development Officer for local rugby team Wakefield Trinity where she campaigned on to improve local children's health and wellbeing.[4]

[edit ]Botterill worked as parliamentary assistant and head of office to Yvette Cooper, MP now Home Secretary, from 2013 to 2019 who she met whilst campaigning to save a Sure Start centre in Cooper's constituency.[7] She also worked as a Corporate Affairs Advisor for Yorkshire Water, and later Public Affairs Manager for 38 Degrees.[8] Prior to her election, she worked for Portland Communications.[9]
Parliamentary career

Shortly after her election, she was appointed as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Home Office.[3] In her maiden speech, she said one of her focuses as a Member of Parliament would be campaigning for opportunities for young people in her constituency.[11]
In November 2024, Botterill voted in favour of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legalise assisted suicide.[12] Botterill has campaigned and voted for more regulation of the water industry.[13]
