David Edmund Burton-Sampson[1] is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Southend West and Leigh since 2024.[2]
Political career
[edit ]Burton-Sampson was deputy leader of the Labour Group on Basildon council.[3]
He unseated the Conservative MP Anna Firth, who had won the seat in an uncontested by-election after the murder of longtime MP Sir David Amess in October 2021.
In November 2024, Burton-Sampson voted in favour of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which proposes to legalise assisted suicide.[4]
Personal life
