Can I depend on trusted-forwarder.org to be around long term?
No.
The T-FWL is designed for early SPF adopters. It is not in the SPF specification for many good reasons. There should never be a single entity that can decide if email should get through or not.
The Trusted-Fowarder.org Global Whitelist WILL go away some day!
