D'après les forums concernant Compiz, il te faudrait : You'll need a card with hardware T&L in the GPU at minimum, with shader support for anything more than the basic effects. A GeForce 256 or Radeon 7000 would be the absolute minimum.
Donc une Radeon 7000 si tu souhaites rester sur des drivers libres supportant la 3D (radeon-hd).
Ca ne devrait pas aller chercher bien loin en termes de prix et un bon plan reste les newsgroups "locaux" de vente entre particuliers.
