The question asked in the Microsoft piece is whether the OSP can be trusted. As I have pointed out, that is simply a silly and irrelevant question. The question not asked is whether Microsoft can be trusted to implement OpenXML strictly according to the standard and without proprietary extensions that will render the standard ineffective when used by other parties. Based on past history, the answer to that question is simple: no.
