Persons in employment, June 2026
More persons in employment in June, the number of foreign citizens among them continues to rise
In June, the number of persons in employment increased by 0.1% to 941,800. Their number grew in more than half of the sections of activities, most notably in accommodation and food service activities. The share of foreign citizens in employment (excluding farmers) rose to 16.5%.

More persons in paid employment as well as self-employed persons
Compared to May, the number of persons in employment went up by slightly more than 500 or by 0.1%, to around 941,800. The number of persons in paid employment grew by almost 500 (0.1%), and the number of self-employed persons by around 50 (also 0.1%).
The number of men in employment increased by almost 500 (0.1%), while the number of women slightly decreased.
On the other hand, the number of persons in employment decreased by 0.1% year-on-year. A decline was recorded among persons in paid employment, by 0.2%, while the number of self-employed persons went up by 0.8%. The number of both men and women in employment decreased by 0.1%.
Monthly growth in over half of the sections of activities
At the monthly level, the number of persons in employment increased in 12 and decreased in the remaining 9 sections of activities. The largest growth was recorded in accommodation and food service activities (by almost 400 or 0.9%). The largest drop was observed in education (by around 200 or 0.3%).
Compared to last June, the largest increase was recorded in human health and social work activities (3.5%), and the largest decrease in manufacturing (1.3%).
Highest number of foreign citizens in employment to date
Considering citizenship groups (excluding farmers), the number of foreign citizens in employment again increased at the monthly level, this time by almost 900, i.e. by 0.6%, to around 152,900. This is the highest number since we started monitoring register-based data on persons in employment. Among them, the largest group were citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, numbering approximately 70,500 or 46.1% of all foreign citizens in employment. On the other hand, the number of Slovenian citizens in employment fell by almost 400.
Year-on-year, the number of foreign citizens in employment grew by 2.7%, while the number of Slovenian citizens decreased by 0.6%. The share of foreign citizens in employment (excluding farmers) increased from 16.1% a year ago to 16.5%. The number of Indian citizens increased the most, by almost 1,000 or 52.5%, to approximately 2,800.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
Data in the release are published according to the new Standard Classification of Activities (SKD 2025). On 1 January 2025, EU Member States started to use NACE Rev. 2.1. In Slovenia, a new national version SKD 2025 started to be used. The main differences between the previous and the current version are described in the document Differences between the SKD 2008 and SKD 2025 (in Slovenian language only).
