Economic Consequences of the ASEAN-China Air Transport Agreement (AC-ATA)(2018_2_40_019)

Outline

As a result of the ongoing globalization of economic activities and the emergence of Low Cost Carriers (LCCs), air transportation has become more and more important. Against this backdrop, ASEAN has been liberalizing its internal aviation market. Although ASEAN has been trying to sign air transport agreements (ATA) with neighboring countries, the ASEAN-China ATA signed in 2010 is the only agreement which has entered into force as of today.

This research project aims to provide useful and objective information on the potential impacts of ATAs based on a numerical investigation into the impacts of the ASEAN-China ATA using institutional information, flight and airport information, and trade and passenger statistics.

Period
