Female Empowerment and Social Institutions

Outline

The aim of this research is to improve our understanding of the roles played by social institutions in the violation of women’s human rights in the developing world from the perspective of female empowerment. More precisely, the following two questions will be addressed through an empirical approach.
(1) Welfare impacts of levirate marriage in Tanzania
(2) Determinants of Purdar in Pakistan
