Brian Riley is a Public Health Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), bringing over 25 years of experience in national and international public health. In his current role, he provides strategic advice and technical support to advance ADB's health sector objectives, focusing on strengthening health systems, integrating climate change into health planning, and achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) across Asia and the Pacific. Before joining ADB, Brian held key positions at the World Health Organization (WHO), including Technical Advisor for Risk Communication within the WHO Emergencies Programme and Executive Officer for COVAX. He also worked with WHO's Western Pacific Regional Office on health systems and UHC initiatives. Brian has extensive experience in delivering Australian Government aid programs across Asia and the Pacific, particularly with small island states, and has held leadership roles in various Australian Federal Government agencies. His work has spanned sectors such as health, education, law & justice, and social services. Additionally, Brian was seconded to United Nations agencies for critical missions, including Typhoon Yolanda recovery in the Philippines and the Sudanese Census of Population and Housing. He holds a PhD in Public Health and Development, Masters of Law, Masters in Development Management, and undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Music.
