CSI Cross site includes

By Steven Heynderickx Steven Heynderickx

Description

This description is not a description of a specific problem solver. It is a promotion of a new technique. As more advanced wikidot users that search here for code snippets, you will be well aware of the include function.

Up till recent you could only include pages of your own site. This has changed! It is now possible to include pages of other sites as well. In this way you can design cool snippets and use them in all your sites without much programming.

The wikidot-guru's made a site csi.wikidot.com that collects these CSI's. Have a look there to see if there is anything you can use. For example if you wanted to publish a Progress Indicator to illustrate the status of your page you could use :
style=rog

A cool progress indicator linked to a tagshine.pnghead.pngwhite.gif

Here is another example of an indicator made by rhombus p

This is a test project - 45% complete

leiger also managed to squeeze a nice clock in a CSI that you can use. more...

Since this project is still young there are not many includes yet… Maybe you can help. Add suggestions, solutions or for blocks of code you regularly use. Then we can turn them into CSI's

Thanks to tsangk for this great snippet: conditional-blocks

text above inserted with:

unique=1|type=equal|var1=%%name%%|var2=conditional-blocks
**##red|Thanks to tsangk for this great snippet:##** [code:conditional-blocks]
include :snippets:if END

Some other examples

I posted my promotional sticker on several pages, Pieter was not to happy with it… With reason. Admin's like me may not abuse their rights to promote their CSI's… It should be neutral… Wich I understand. So maybe on this page there can be a CSI of the month… But only here…

I saw, I think it was Leiger who had made a "thank you" CSI … more for fun but hey,… maybe people like it and want to use it.

I made a by default folded Table of contents… but since it is not possible to put the CSS also inside the CSI, it is for users who know how to change their custom themes. It can also change the title of the TOC but that has already been fixed (read more...)

I misposted this post. It should have been here.
