The IAEA’s Integrated Nuclear Education Advisory Services (INEAS) are designed to support the establishment and appraisal of university nuclear education programmes. Two levels of INEAS have been established, reflecting the different phases of nuclear education programmes:
National INEAS
A service that supports the establishment of nuclear education programmes in countries where the number of such programmes is relatively low or evolving and an introduction to their implementation is required to help establish a strategy and policy to meet future requirements. The national INEAS will be beneficial to universities that provide, or wish to provide, education programmes that support the nuclear industry and its stakeholders.
University INEAS
A programme appraisal to include specific high-level assistance to optimise and enhance existing nuclear education programmes to ensure their sustainability. A university INEAS is also used to identify good practices at universities. This service is a two-way knowledge sharing process that captures and shares good practices and lessons learned from which other universities can benefit and provides an opportunity for suggestions for enhancing the host university’s education programmes. Some universities with well-established programmes may be visited to capture and disseminate their successful and innovative programme approaches.
Requesting INEAS
Interested Member States may request an INEAS through official channels, addressing their request to the IAEA Deputy Director General, Head of the Department of Nuclear Energy. Alternatively, a request may be submitted through the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme. Following the request, Member States (host organizations) will be invited to complete a national preliminary survey ahead of any INEAS mission. Please note, that the planning and preparation for an INEAS mission normally starts at least six months in advance of the mission.
