Lucky Start is a badge in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door . It is found in Creepy Steeple, though only after Mario defeats the Atomic Boo, who is formed after Mario is swarmed by Boos and knocks them away with the Super Hammer. If the badge falls into the hole in the floor after the Atomic Boo is defeated, it cannot be retrieved. However, it will become available for purchase from Lovely Howz of Badges for 70 coins so it can be obtained.

When equipped, Mario will enter every battle with a randomly-selected, positive status condition that will last for 3 turns:

All of these effects are shared with another badge or item in the game, namely Happy Heart and Slow Mushroom, Happy Flower and Gradual Syrup, Repel Cape, and Zap Tap and Volt Mushroom respectively.

If both the Lucky Start and Zap Tap badges are equipped, the Electrified condition can still be selected to occur, but nothing happens as Mario will already have this condition from the Zap Tap badge.
