Star Fox True Ending

Star Fox -- both the 2026 and the original Nintendo 64 version it's based on -- has two different endings. True to the multi-branch campaign setup, some players may complete Star Fox and think they've seen the last of Andross, but the final screen of the "easy route" playthrough hints that there's more hidden in the game.

How to Get the True Ending

Which ending you get depends entirely on the path you take to the final battle on the planet Venom. The standard easy path via Bolse, which is the result of a "Mission Complete" on the easy route via either Sector Z or through the middle via Macbeth, as well as the "Mission Accomplished" path from Titania, all land you on Venom.

But this entry point to the planet locks you into a path that leads over Venom's surface to a version of Andross that's not actually the real deal. Beating this easy version of Andross results in a brief battle with a robotic skull, revealing you've battled a decoy all along. We also call this version of the Venom battle "Venom 1".

The real path to victory -- and the true ending -- requires you to take another route and land on Venom 2. This path can only be achieved if you flip all switches on Macbeth or protect the Great Fox from damage on Sector Z, which results in a "Mission Accomplished" scenario. Your next destination then will be Area 6 -- the only location that will directly lead to Venom 2.

The battle on Venom 2 bypasses the flight over the planet and instead faces you off with Star Wolf. After defeating them, you will face off with the real Andross -- the literal brain between the war in the Lylat System. Defeat Andross and you'll get the true ending.
