South Sea Bog Merlin Trials
The South Sea Bog region is home to 2 Merlin Trials that can be cleared to make progress toward unlocking additional Gear Inventory Slots. Merlin Trials come in a variety of puzzles, each of which typically requires the use of at least one spell to complete.
In this Hogwarts Legacy guide, you'll learn the location of both of the Merlin Trials in the South Sea Bog Region and you'll receive detailed instructions to help you solve each one.
South Sea Bog Merlin Trials
South Sea Bog Merlin Trial 1
- Spells Required: Lumos
Located toward the northern area of the South Sea Bog, this Merlin Trial will task you with gathering butterflies and guiding them to a stone enclosure with the spell Lumos. Though butterflies cannot be pinged by Revelio, all of the butterflies in this trial can be seen from one of the three stone enclosures.
Once you've found a kaleidoscope of butterflies, approach them and activate Lumos to lure them to an enclosure. Deactivating Lumos or casting another spell will make the butterflies flee.
- Butterflies 1 - Found north of the Merlin Trial altar, to the right of a tree.
- Butterflies 2 - Found southwest of the Merlin Trial altar at the base of another tree.
- Butterflies 3 - Found southeast of the Merlin Trial altar but they can be tricky to see behind all of the branches in your way.
South Sea Bog Merlin Trial 2
- Spells Required: Basic Cast
To get to the final Merlin Trial in South Sea Bog, head to the southern reaches of the region just past the Medium Bandit Camp. Though you may elect to clear the camp before taking on the Merlin Trial, this is not required as the Trial start point is on a cliffside devoid of enemies.
Spread your Mallowsweet Leaves to begin the Merlin Trial, then turn to the southeast where you'll spot three of the nine orbs you'll need to destroy. The second trio of orbs is found under the cliff to the north and the third trio is set northwest near the small body of water.
