With its impacts on the natural environment and human society, climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing the world. IGES is committed to the formulation and implementation of policies that help mitigate the effects of climate change in order to facilitate the adaptation and transition toward a decarbonised and resilient society. Our work is framed within international processes related to climate change, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). IGES activities include: capacity-building support to countries and local governments across the wider Asian region; promoting the implementation of market mechanisms under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement; enhancing the effective implementation and mainstreaming of adaptation measures; and conducting research on climate security.
