Does it also apply to steam games? I mean, when graphics is set to auto, will CrossOver auto change from DXVK, D3DMetal and all other setting depending on the steam game that is lauched?
"The most frequently used aspect of this system will be the graphics settings. If the Graphics setting under "Advanced Settings" in the right sidebar is left set to "Auto", it will use wined3d, DXVK or D3DMetal depending on the setting we have in our database. We have only started populating values for this, so we really appreciate any reports that let us know if the "Auto" setting is not correct and needs changing."
Hi Rafael,
Yes, it applies to games installed through any platform. But please note that we still need input on what the best setting is for many, many games, so please enter a beta report if you find that the Auto setting is not optimized for the games you play :)
Best,
Meredith
To expand this topic a little: Will the auto setting take effect if you don't use the application shortcut within the bottle? Put another way, if I have steam and several steam games within a bottle, and I launch steam, then launch the game from steam (rather than the bottle shortcut in crossover) will the auto setting still take effect?
Also: It would be nice if there was a UI distinction of some sort that told the user if a given game was recognized by the auto settings database (and which auto settings were applied), otherwise new users may assume it's working when it really isn't.
It will also be difficult to give feedback on whether the wrong settings are being used if we don't know which settings are being applied.
Hi Alex,
Yes, it will work when you launch games through Steam. In fact, that's how we recommend launching games :)
Best,
Meredith
Hello everyone,
I noticed that on hybrid graphics setups crossover doesn't switch between integrated and dedicated gpus automatically, it keeps selecting the default one (the integrated). An environment variable must be applied in cxbottle conf to set the nvidia dedicated gpu as default. These commands must be submitted to switch between gpus.
[EnvironmentVariables]
"__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD"="1"
"__GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME"="nvidia"
"WINEDXVK" = "1"
"CX_GRAPHICS_BACKEND" = "dxvk"
;;"PROMPT" = "$p$g"
Heoric games launcher and Steam proton do it by default. Could it be possible to create a menu inside the bottle configuration panel to toggle on or off such feature?
Thanks in advance for your courtesy
Best Regards
