Notice regarding the Issuance Schedule for the New 500 Yen Coin

On January 22, 2021, the Ministry of Finance announced that it was considering postponing the issuance of the new 500 yen coin, originally scheduled for the first half of fiscal 2021 (April-September 2021),¹ in view of the impact of the novel coronavirus on the modification of cash handling equipment. The Ministry will announce the revised schedule after assessing the situation.
