About me
I began working for the Wikimedia Foundation in April 2014. I have a BA in Organizational Communication. I also have an MFA in Creative Writing with a dual focus on Poetry and Nonfiction.
I approach technical documentation with empathy for my audiences and a desire to mentor and learn from developing technical documentarians and communicators.
My work
I currently work as a Technical Writer with the Developer Advocacy Team.
Technical documentation is an important (and often overlooked) element of the software development process. The best technical writers act as conduits for communication in their organizations. They facilitate communication between individuals and departments. They make complex technical information easier to understand. They seek to elevate and facilitate civil communication.
Technical documentation is an excellent entry point for individuals who want to learn more about technology and how to contribute to FLOSS movements. Whether you are a writer, software developer, or just curious about the kind of technologies used to undergird, create, and drive software development, you can benefit (while contributing to a powerful movement) from documenting Open Source projects.
If you are ever curious about learning how to contribute to Wikimedia's technical spaces or about technical writing, please feel free to contact me.
