Global rollback for Максим Підліснюк
- Global user: Максим Підліснюк (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
This is my second attempt. Since the first nomination I became more experienced as in the fight against cross-wiki vandalism and global work in general. --Максим Підліснюк (talk) 21:05, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose Sorry, but per policy, "users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki countervandalism or anti-spam activities", I don't see that here, with less than 35 reverts. Please use Twinkle for now. Matiia (talk) 21:52, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Global rollback for Tropicalkitty
- Global user: Tropicalkitty (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I've decided to go ahead and submit this early... I think I am ready for global rollback. I understand what is obviously unconstructive edits. Although, I have been under fire when first using this username back close to the end of May (sockpuppet abuse of a user I never was related to at all on a major wiki, which I shouldn't have been there in the first place... I know [and some or most stewards know who I was prior [revealed on IRC]) and a block made on me in error at ru.wiktionary.
I'm not interested in the hat collecting at all. I never requested any local rights, but am satisfied with whatever happens and make sure I use it properly. Thank you in advance. Tropicalkitty (talk) 10:10, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Global rollback for Grind24
- Global user: Grind24 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Not ending before 18 August 2015 16:47 UTC
I have remained active crosswiki since my last request, doing some reverts and taggings, and I think that rollback globally would help me do the job faster.I've done so little before filing this request. Anyways, regardless of that, I'd like to request global rollback so that I can be more effective in reverting cross-wiki vandalism, and more importantly than that, be able to revert large removals on wikis.I realize that I do not have the amount of reverts that most people requesting this right do, however, it is only rollback, and I'd really like to be able to revert a large removal in under 3 minutes, as well as being able to more efficient at revert vandalism in general. Thanks for your consideration.--Grind24 (talk) 16:47, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

- Changing my vote to Neutral Neutral. While, I am not super impressed with Grind24's cross-wiki activity, I am going to forgive him for his mistakes in the past. After reading Aldnonymous and Tropicalkitty's comments, I'm happy to give him a chance. eurodyne (talk) 18:09, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support Support Active enough. While a tu quoue is a sign of weakness this is not very relevant for the GR tool in my opinion. The user does a lot of good work. Is active enough and I am sure that he will use the tool properly. I agree with Grind24 that it is only rollback and Twinkle can be a pain from time to time because of the slow loading time. Let's give this a try. Natuur12 (talk) 17:20, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- Even without the reason I opposed, Grind's main edits are userpage creations, welcoming new users, etc. I've seen few reverts, mainly taggings (which GR is not needed). While this may be irrelevant, I also have never seen this user on IRC. eurodyne (talk) 17:35, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose per Eurodyne, and also because I have not received a reason to think he is not continuing hat collection. Additionally, candidate misunderstands the right because it also contains other permissions such as moving without leaving a redirect.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:29, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Jasper Deng: I am someone who only seeks rights when I feel I am in a position to use them (& I drop them when I am not!). The past few weeks have brought a big increase in cross wiki spam junk and I find myself increasingly dropping speedy tags on stuff on (to me) obscure) wikis. I'll understand if folk feel that I am only more recently active (again) in cross wiki issues but it seemed sensible to see if folk feel it might benefit smaller projects if I could deal with junk more easily. I am sure there are a stack of links I could put here but if you don't know where to look for my contribs why are you here ;). I've had various rights in various places and so in the past I committed some mistakes, I recognize it and I apologize for all. Happy to answer questions - thanks.--Grind24 (talk) 12:24, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Global rollback for Unapersona
- Global user: Unapersona (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Not ending before 19 August 2015 21:58 UTC
The reason that I'm requesting GR rights is that I'm a member of the SMWT. I know that I'm not an old member of the SMWT, but I have a problem: My Twinkle doesn't work always. These days, for example, I can see the rollback buttons, but when I press them it doesn't happen anything. I have 7181 global contributions, and you can find me in IRC as NeoMahler (mainly in #wikipedia-ca or #cvn-sw). About my cross-wiki anti-vandalism activities, as said I'm a new (but I think active) member of SMWT, but I have experience reverting and detecting vandalism (I'm rollbacker in cawiki). --Unapersona (talk) 21:58, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

- @Eurodyne: I understand your reasons. The problem is that every time I have to rollback I have to use the undo button, because the twinkle doesn't work. Anyway, thanks for your comments! --Unapersona (talk) 07:15, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

(See en:Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive851#Deception_by_Akifumii.2FXermano. (Xermano/Akifumii changed their username to Eurodyne, which I also feel was a move to avoid scrutiny.) There are also lingering issues with hat collection for this user. In addition, global rollback does confer some higher-level permissions as well, such as noratelimit and suppressredirect. I do not feel comfortable supporting an application for GR at this time. --L235 (talk) enwiki 22:00, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

- @Ajraddatz: Unfortunately Krassotkin forgot to mention that in ru.wiki (his home wiki) ip-block-exemption flag was removed at 27.08.2015. He tries to appeal against this decision to other administrators (see discussion). Even if the discussion is not finished now, there is a strong consensus against the return of a flag. Since there is no other project where he currently needs this flag, it looks like he successfully tried to evade this decision by requesting ip-block-exemption flag on meta. In ru.wiki he brags with it and encourage other users to come with "any plausible-looking reason" ("с любой выглядящей правдоподобно причиной") to receive this flag. --DR (talk) 10:06, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this up. The global IPBE flag does not grant any exemption from local blocks, so this will not allow Krassotkin to bypass any local actions designed to prevent disruptive behaviour. Furthermore, IPBE flags simply allow a user to continue to edit - is there any indication why this should not be allowed to happen in this case? Does this user display a pattern of disruptive behaviour for which they should be blocked (and if that is the case, why aren't they)? It is true that some people probably collect this right as a fancy hat to wear, but ultimately that has no impact on anyone but themselves. Ajraddatz (talk) 11:08, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- As per IP block exemption policy in ru.wiki the user can receive this exemption only if he can show good cause. Throughout the discussion in ru.wiki Krassotkin has refused to name (privately or public) a reason why he need the flag - neither good nor bad. I don't see any difficulties in granting global IPBE flag to Krassotkin (we even encourage users in simular situations to request a global flag instead of local), but I want stewards (now and in 6 month) to know the whole background of this request. --DR (talk) 12:55, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the clarification and information. I'll discuss it with some others and see what an appropriate path forward on this case is. Ajraddatz (talk) 16:29, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

- Oppose Oppose Global editinterface is about editing MediaWiki (i.e. project settings) namespace of all WMF projects. The policy says that "Interface editors are trusted users"... and ..."must not make any controversial edits"... Two examples, why he is not trusted even might be a threat for Wikimedia communities:
- Unauthorized sitenotice release. In 2011 Czech Wikipedia community protested against sitenotice banner invitation for a competition. So we executives of Wikimedia Czech Republic have decided to withdraw it. In a very short time "someone" restored it, without writing that into the log. From information and his behavior that time, we believe it was his action. If so he did not respect Czech Wikipedia community will, did not respect the decision of WMCZ - who was responsible for that campaign and did not respect sitenotice/centralnotice practices.
- Ignoring policies and community, forcing his POV by admin rights. Month ago he lost his administrator and bureaucrat rights on Czech Wikiversity (similar situation on Wikidata (in English)). Most reasons against him where luck of communication and "wikiengineering", which could be characterized by not respecting community and its decisions, not respecting local policies and complete superior behavior.--Juandev (talk) 08:02, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Strong oppose (As per Juandev). --Kusurija (talk) 10:01, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Strong oppose
- He may be technically skilled but he's absolutely desperate with people skills. Lots of people had lots of problems with him over the years, but he almost always ignored them. You can find RfCs intended to deal with his behaviour where he didn't care to respond to users' complaints at all. You can see tons of messages on his talk pages on many projects where people tried talking to him but he ignored them. There were even several arbcom cases with him where he didn't care to respond at all. And recently he was supposed to have his admin and bureacrat rights confirmed on cs.wikiversity where he didn't care to provide a reasonable nomination and ignored users questions. So the first thing that can be sure: if there were some user complaints with the way Danny B. uses these global editinterface rights, you can be sure he would ignore them and not respond properly.
- The second thing is, he's active on so many projects now and doesn't really do what would be needed there - so why does he want yet another function? Some examples: while yet a cs.wikiversity bureaucrat he didn't care to evaluate admin votes for more than 10 days. On cs.wiktionary we had a vote on changing category collation in June, bureacurats were asked to evaluate the vote but didn't do it for more than 45 days despite several users notified them several times. And there are more examples where Danny B. promised to do something "within couple of days" but never (yet) did it. Why does he want to be admin and bureacrat everywhere if he's unwilling to contribute with content? (He nearly doesn't contribute with content anywhere). Why does he want yet another function? He's just a function collector. I don't have a better explanation.
- There are lots of examples where Danny B. totally ignored community opinion and acted on his own regardless of protests. That must not be that dangerous on a big wiki but it's very dangerous on a small wiki with not enough admins to revert those edits. It can definitely be a case with global editinterface. In February he changed site CSS on cs.wiktionary in a way that it showed a nasty error message on several hundred (or thousands?) pages. There was no consensus on the subject prior this change (it was Danny B.'s own decision), and as is his custom, he ignored all protests and didn't cope with arguments against it. It stayed there for many weeks. So if you want a global editinterface editor who ignores community opinion, go for Danny B.
- One last thing (there would be many many many things against him), he uses admin tools as weapons. There are many examples where he banned a user who he was in a dispute with or who just had different opinions than him or where he banned users for a ridiculous amount of time. There are examples of controversial page deletions on several projects. There is a case where another site admin banned indef a user for posing a question on site rules and he didn't intervene because he didn't like the user too and was happy to have him banned. To sum it up, I'm definitely sure Danny B. can use this function as a weapon too. He recently lost him admin and bureacrat rights on cs.wikiversity so I can imagine he can get back and revenge himself by changing some of the site functionality.
- And as it is again his custom, you can imagine he or his friends will soon show up, comment on every vote and offend users who oppose. So for him I'll probably be a cross-wiki troll and cross-wiki sockpuppeter (because in 2006 I used sockpuppets on Czech Wikipedia). So get ready for a funny vote :-) --Auvajs (talk) 10:09, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Strong oppose I support the above demurs. --Kychot (talk) 13:25, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose Uncommunicative admin. --Martin Kotačka (talk) 14:48, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Plesae see, all who are opposing Danny B. are the same people which are stalking him around all projects and their big wictory would be, when Danny B. lost all rights on all project regardless which rights, which project and which language, only because it is Danny B. Jednorázový neprovokační účet (talk) 16:54, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Support Support Danny B has been hugely helpful for maintaining gadgets and site JS in the past. I see no reason why he wouldn't be helpful now as well. The right expires after a year, so I don't think it's a huge risk to grant this. He's had some issues in the past, but overall I think he is still a trusted member of the community. Kaldari (talk) 20:56, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Well, not trusted by me and not trusted by 7 Wikiversity users, not trusted by 80% active core community. Not trusted on Wikipedia, not trusted on Wikidata. I realy dont understand, why people, who are not trusted by local communites, should have the global rights?!--Juandev (talk) 22:56, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Strong oppose His technical skills do not matter if he is still communicating very poorly, as suggested by other opposes above. His previous editinterface rights were not renewed for these reasons and I see no reason that that issue has been addressed.--Jasper Deng (talk) 20:58, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

- Comment Comment This seems like a very dangerous method of granting power to individuals. People on Meta will often vote without any knowledge of the person's history on individual Wikis where he or she has been active. Because someone else nominated him in this case, we would not even be able to see it in Danny B.'s contributions. If this right affects local communities so much (actually it gives people a portion of admin rights), shouldn't they be informed? --Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 06:52, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose Just no. Global editinterface for Jack Phoenix
- Global user: Jack Phoenix (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
I'm a MediaWiki developer who's had global editinterface rights since 2012. I've cleaned up various .css and .js pages to match our coding style and fixed obviously broken code while at it. With major back-end changes, such as requiring gadgets to use ResourceLoader or entirely deprecating document.write()
— some more recent, some older — it becomes even more important to have capable interface editors to help out local communities. I just today remembered that my current rights expire in a few days (whoops!), but I wasn't intending on giving up gadget migration or general maintenance work just yet. :-) Thanks in advance. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 02:15, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
