Global rollback for Iste Praetor
- Global user: Iste_Praetor (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
Hello! After my first request last month, which was not successful, I now decided to reapply for the global rollback permission. Meanwhile I gained some more experience in fighting cross-wiki vandalism and spam using the IRC channel, where GR would be very helpful for me to revert disruptive edits like these. On German and English Wikipedia I already have the rollback right. Regards --Ist e (☎) 15:18, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

- Support. I was going to oppose because the last request was so near to this one, but checking through their global contribs it seems that they have got enough experience for me. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:58, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Neutral Neutral Your last request was on 31 October, not even two weeks ago... But you do good work, therefore a neutral vote. Trijnstel 23:15, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

- Comment Comment Apart from reverting a crosswiki spam yesterday, I don't really see a lot of x-wiki stuff. I don't see enough cross-wiki experience, and I saw some things that deceived me. For example, you have reverted this diff. I don't read on your user page that you have special language skills on (az) language, and I personally don't feel to have enough language skills to say that this should have been reverted, even with an automatic translation or with a dictionary. You should remember that x-wiki patrollers (global rollback or not) should revert only things that are clearly vandalism or spam, i.e. things that you are 100% sure they should be reverted. Then, I saw you have left this message on sqwiki. I usually don't left messages in English on non-english projects to new editors (exceptions for a last waning before blocking) because they may not speak english or feel that this wiki has no community speaking their main language. So I don't think that's a really good idea to write it in German. This kind of messages are not really welcoming too... you should better have warned a GS or a steward about it to solve the situation (as you can see here he continued to vandalize the page after you left).
Even if I agree that global rollback is no big deal, I'm not comfortable with giving you these rights at this stage. I hope you won't be offended by this comment, which just aims at giving you feedback to improve which should to my mind be better. Best regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 12:41, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- @Quentinv57: Actually I don't see where the problem is if Iste Praetor apprises IPs. If someone persists in doing vandalism, and you don't know the "local" language, I believe that a warning in English (and not in German) it's a good idea. On the other hand, I've seen some time a user with global rights gives a notice (e.g. 1, 2).--Frigotoni ...i'm here; 16:01, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- I left the message on sqwiki in German because it was obviously a German vandal as you see from the contributions. On azwiki, I reverted the edit because "beli beli." is definitely not a complete sentence, even if it doesn't mean "waist waist" like Google translator says. Thank you very much for your feedback about English messages, I'll keep that in mind, but I don't think that vandalism messages can reveal the ability or inability to use rollback correctly. - Not done. edits look good in general, but some questions raised in this discussion, leads me to request you to come back in a month or so, when you gain more experience. One more point, please add your name in SWMT, so we will know you are a member of the team. best Matanya 09:37, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Global editinterface for Candalua
- Global user: Candalua (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Discussion: oldwikisource:Wikisource:Scriptorium#Subdomain_coordination:_some_tasks_for_a_global_sysop
Hi, I would like to have this permission for doing some maintenance tasks on all Wikisource subdomains, details here. Thanks in advance Candalua 20:29, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Candalua is a very experienced Wikisource sysop and Wikisource magic is very hard to fix and maintain even for Wikisourcerers, it's very nice that he's willing to help with it. I guess a few weeks should be enough for these first tasks. Nemo 20:42, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, sorry, I didn't specify a duration: 2 weeks would be okay. Candalua 21:17, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Global editinterface for Merlissimo
- Global user: Merlissimo (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA )
- Discussion: Talk:Interwiki sorting order
- I have made an proposal for a new interwiki sorting order which has no oppose by any framework developer and would like to implement this now. Read more on Talk:Interwiki_sorting_order.
- The same problem exist with not updated local MediaWiki:Disambiguationspage. I tried to solve this problem some years ago (read my old notices) but many admins were not responding. This change must be done with care (and involve local admins if possible), so the 2nd Job will take many months. Also some pages must be deleted, but i can collected them and ask a global sysop for help. After this is done the manual configured disambig config can be removed from all bot frameworks.
--Merlissimo 11:57, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- Support Support but how long to you think you need it? There aren't any policies for this right, so it can't be permanent, but a date for removal is nice to have when this request is closed... Laaknor 12:21, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- The first task will be completed after max two weeks.
- The second task mainly depends on the response from local community and i calculate about one hours work per wiki for myself. My first try showed thats this can take some month on very small wikis. So i would estimate 3-6 month. I would suggest 3 month with an option of an easy extension per request for additional 3 month once if i am not finished. Merlissimo 13:11, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- Support, more help! Ajraddatz (Talk) 13:22, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, esp. concerning point 1. I had lost hope that anyone would ever go ahead and take care of this. Once you're done, please make sure you get out some sort of notification. Seb az86556 13:42, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

- Nice. Be sure to document (1) somewhere in main namespace here and to link it from your edit summary so that present and future admins everywhere will understand what it is (at least if they know English). Disambiguationspage is supposed to be known to all admins who do their homework... Nemo 16:13, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
