Global unblock for ?

Status:  nothing to do

Why am I blocked? I am new to this website and I edited (en:Eric Campbell) and (fr:Jurickson Profar). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Josephlinden (talk) 18:10, 11 June 2014

I have closed this, there is information to indicate which IP was blocked, and checks do not show that the using address is blocked. If there is further information that can be provided, please do so.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:24, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 62.210.142.218

Status:  converted to soft block

This global block ( on 62.210.128.0/17 ) affects a legitimate user on fr.wp. The block reason indicates "open proxy" but this is currently not the case. --Linedwell @frwiki 13:20, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

@Linedwell: I have converted this to a soft block, so those who are logged into their WMF user account can edit  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:19, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 66.175.215.229 (and IPv6)

Status:  soft blocks

These addresses and /64 range are under my control. I am the only one with access. --Peasantoid (talk) 00:10, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

{{unblock}} -- Subnet is owned by quickweb.co.nz and services legitimate closed proxies and VPNs (like the one I am using) in addition to the alleged open proxy the range was blocked for.

Done in a fashion. The ipv4 address is not globally blocked, so nothing to. The ipv6 range has been removed though it now falls under a larger IPv6 /30 soft range block. This requires users to be logged in to their WMF accounts to edit.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:33, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Why have closed my IP?

Status:  IP range is problematic

I dont know why User:ارژنگ has closed my IP? but Written There : (because attacked and indecency) . But I have never attacked and indecency . Please open my IP . You can see [1] .ناطق (talk)

Note: I've moved this request from the talk page. Trijnstel talk 11:22, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
@ناطق: the IP range has been blocked due to it being abused, in fact the /24 is blocked as problematic. I can see spambots within the range looking at tools like http://www.stopforumspam.com/ so it is unlikely to be unblocked while they are active. Please talk to your internet service provider about managing abuse that is happening within their network. If this is a continuing issue and you are looking to edit xwiki, you can apply for an IP block exemption at SRGP; noting that as you are an admin at faWP, that right means excludes from that requirement for that wiki.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:43, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 2604:180:1::c7b3:9b3f

Status:  soft block only

As is well known for GFW, without proxy and VPN people in mainland China can not even view Wikipedia, Wikimedia and Other things, not to mention editing. --2604:180:1:0:0:0:C7B3:9B3F 14:44, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

This is a soft block that requires users to be logged into an WMF account, please do so to edit.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:26, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 96.241.218.72

Status:  Done

I had one edit of the Stevan Hristic article in April this year (English language Wikipedia article). I tried to edit an article on Simple Wikipedia in order to find that this IP address is blocked. The explanation is 'The reason given is Cross-wiki abuse' What kind of abuse it was if I just had one edit not questioned by any ever? Thank you.--96.241.218.72 10:24, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

@Vituzzu: one of yours.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:47, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
No response about why blocked, and review of edits isn't showing mass reversion. AGF.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:58, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 108.59.8.218

Status:  Done

Block log entry states: + 108.59.13.41; real users, converting to soft block., blocking user was User:Billinghurst. If soft block means that users logged in with their global accounts can edit, then it doesn't seem to work. I tried to edit articles in de:wp.

Thanks. --Viciarg 19:24, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

That is indeed what soft block means. However, it seems like the block accidentally was not a soft block, contrary to the description. I fixed that now. --MF-W 22:03, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 79.106.109.243

Status:  changes to soft-block

Hello I come from sq.wiki and i wanted to edit a page in sq.wiki as always but I get this message -

"Your IP address has been blocked on all wikis. The block was made by Tegel (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given is Cross-wiki spam. Start of block: 12 Korrik 2014 22:13 Expiry of block: 12 Tetor 2014 22:13 Your current IP address is 79.106.109.243. Please include all above details in any queries you make. "

My last edit was yesterday but I am blocked from July 12, there must be some mistake, please help me. Visi90 (talk) 21:19, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

The block is because someone else has used that IP-address to add spam to different Wikipedia projects. You can get different IP-addresses every time you log onto internet, depending on what type of service your using, so there is no one saying that you have done anything wrong. I have change the block so you can login to your account and edit pages. -- Tegel (Talk) 22:05, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Visi90 (talk) 22:30, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm SergiSmiler and request this be unlocked because the IP address has been a misunderstanding

Status:  Not done

Hi, I'm SergiSmiler and request this be unlocked because the IP address has been a misunderstanding, then explain that happens, I hope they reconsider ...

You see, I have my IP address from Barcelona, Spain, and so far had no problem, but really, you might seem ridiculous, but it's true ... You know I'm no fan of Miley Cyrus? Well, because it has been nominated for the MTV Video Music Awards this year, I started to vote for it, but later I found out that only the votes of USA are recorded, so install on my Google Chrome an application I would change my background to NYC, so my votes are counted and if Miley has more chances of winning. I'm not the only one who makes this change, millions of fans around the world have changed their addresses so that their votes are counted, in Brazil, Spain, Australia, UK ... many are Smilers we have done. Well, I understand that I found locked, but as you can see, it is an exceptional case, I intend to have my original address after the voting period in August to close, so I ask that you please remove the lock I offer two solutions: the first is to remove the application and re-edited from BCN, or allow me and continue until the conclusion of such prize.

Please let me continue contributing Wikipeida. It's all a misunderstanding, thanks.--SergiSmiler (talk) 14:20, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Not done I have checked from where you are editing, and the IP is showing up as being an open proxy and that is being used for spam, and the hosting of two websites. It is not a Spain-based IP address, but a US webhost. So at this point, the request to unblock the IP request is denied. I would suggest that you stop utilising that US-based IP address as it is being abused. (To note that the account is not locked, it is presumably due to the IP block)  — billinghurst sDrewth 16:37, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Global block/unblock for T-Mobile network

Status:  Done

I don't care that much about being unblocked. I can wait until I'm at my home computer. Just wanted to point out that my IP address on T-Mobile was blocked (presumably someone did something dumb from their phone). I know this wasn't me, because this is the first time I've tried to edit anything since I got T-Mobile service. So I assume T-Mobile recycles IP addresses, and for an IP based block system, this can be problematic for some.

Here's the message: Your IP address has been blocked on all wikis.

The block was made by Tegel (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given is Cross-wiki abuse.

Start of block: 17:02, 25 July 2014Expiry of block: 17:02, 25 August 2014

Your current IP address is 172.56.30.53. Please include all above details in any queries you make.

--172.56.30.53 06:47, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

This is a soft block, and if you are logged into your wikimedia account, then you should be able to edit. If you don't have an account, then you can get one at Special:CreateAccount  — billinghurst sDrewth 07:35, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
@Tegel: did you manage to get any further on your investigation of the range?  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:07, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Oh, see that this has been Done.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:10, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Global block for 193.235.73.194

Status:  Done

For some days now, this IP does only vandalism and link-spamming, both cross-wiki. Perhaps an open proxy? --Schniggendiller (talk) 01:00, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

The abuse looks like it is broad through the internet http://www.stopforumspam.com/ipcheck/193.235.73.194, so block it for a little while.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:44, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Blocking of Major Cell Carriers IP's

Status:  Done

I have no clue how to use this thing and do not care to take the time to learn how to so I can dedicate more time to offering free expertise in editing. Thousands if not millions of smart phone users are unable to edit right now because of a block. As someone has made it difficult I will not edit here. It is likely the the one who blocked all the IPs of a major cell carrier (T Mobile) did not do any real research and failed to explore other solutions. It may also be done intentionally as a form of corporate sabotage from another carrier. T mobile would have a strong legal case against wiki if some wiki admin was involved in a sabotage scheme. I am not sure that is happening but this is the second time in months all T-mobile IP's have been blocked and it is becoming suspicious and tiring. I will not be back here as my time is far to valuable (I have a real life-Not an imaginary cyber one). So do what you believe needs to be done which is likely nothing. Sarcastic, Yes but absolutely brutally honest. The buck stops with wikipedia and no one else, period. 172.56.11.156 23:25, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback, I am seeking further information about the reason for the block from my fellow steward. To note that the block is a soft block, and people who are logged into their wikimedia accounts are unimpeded by the block. Re your conspiracy theory, no.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:51, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
This has been removed and being reviewed.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:09, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Global unblock for 92.229.80.44

Status:  Done

Hello, I would ask you to check if my IP being globally blocked was according to the guidelines?

  1. I did not vandalize at all.(1, 2)
  2. I do not think my IP is an open proxy.
  3. IPs are humans, too.

Thank you. --92.229.80.44 20:20, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@TBloemink: one of yours, not sure of the source data that you had, so best refer onwards.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:06, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Done. — TBloemink talk 10:27, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
So you abused your stewardship with the sole intention to suppress a discussion on commons. --92.226.43.108 12:56, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

It could be that my colleagues thought that I vandalize the Wikipedia pages. But I don't vandalized the Wikipedia/Wiktionary pages. In the future I will be more careful that such a misunderstanding don't happen next time. Please unlock my account.EmrahÖ (talk) 18:56, 26 May 2014 (UTC+2)

on hold, awaiting review; @Bennylin: this is one of yours.  — billinghurst sDrewth 14:00, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi, @EmrahÖ:, are you sure this is not you? We could unblock you, but your username would be added to watchlist. If any vandalism done using that username in the future, the block would be permanent. Please confirm that you would take future responsibility with this username, including changing password routine, etc. Bennylin 16:10, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
Apparently this is a location in "Turkish Kurdistan" with also a traditionally high population of Armenians (see w:Muş). I do not see why adding the Kurdish translation was reverted. PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:16, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Bennylin, yes I was this, but I don't vandalized the page I only added the Kurdish names of the provinces in the Kurdish inhabited areas, Turkish Kurdistan. I don't vandalized the pages but some users have vandalized the pages by permanently reverting the Kurdish names of the Kurdish inhabited areas, I think because of their political ideology. If you look at the View histories of the said pages you will see whom I mean. So I don't vandalized the pages and therefore I think that I was treated unfairly, but nevertheless I will be more carefully in the future times. I hope that something like that will not happen in future. So please unlock my account. Greetings! EmrahÖ (talk) 15:56, 04 June 2014 (UTC+2) @Bennylin:
Hi and sorry for the late reply, @EmrahÖ: because I was out of town. I have contacted en:User:Kmoksy and ku:User:MikaelF first to get their view about this, and then I'll weigh the decision on that. If you're still following, could you please give your answer to en:User_talk:EmrahÖ#Adding_Kurdish_translations_of_the_names_of_regions_in_Turkey here? And FYI you should take time to create your profile page, because without a profile page, other people cannot know anything about you. Bennylin 08:12, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
I have given my answer to the given link (en:User_talk:EmrahÖ#Adding_Kurdish_translations_of_the_names_of_regions_in_Turkey). I hope that my account will unlocked as soon as possible. Greetings! EmrahÖ (talk) 14:08, 01 July 2014 (UTC+2)
